Absolutely stagering, being a 3d modeller myself I know the hard work it takes to design a car to this amount of detail, brilliant work. Modders like you should really get more credit you model from scratch and show proper dedication to the details of a car rather than converting it in a week or so.

Great work, also what program do you use? 3ds max?

Thanks everyone, I have no photo worth posting because my car looks the same, except my polycount reduction slides to 71,593 and LOD grew to 15352 after adding the interiors, I am still trying to reduce the tris wherever i can find an opportunity.
next screens hopefully in game and must be in game or I'll feed myself to the seagulls.

@Driver333 I am using Maya 2010, I took some courses a while ago and spent quite a bit of money, though i passed , but I realized its not for me so moved on. I spend a lot of time alone digging photos, car domain and google is so helpful. I love when I find restoration website where they stripped the cars.

@Intensified Thanks smile.gif

@universetwisters I still have few projects have to finished notable my GTA4 Caprice and SL500 hit the wall flat, realized I model a car for San andreas and its a real pain to convert it to gta4..

Very promising. Good you're lowering the poly count! The 1993 caprice of yours is very accurate, but pretty high poly!
Still don't care, it's too nice work to not use ingame.

My caprice is already in advance state (thanks to chasez) but I still a lot of to be done. My future mods, both 1989 caprice and sl500, l try to keep the polycount around 40-50k and fewer and simplier Modeled parts.

im still removing more uneccesary polygons, I spent a few hours optimizing the undercarriage and the interiors. The poly count is now 69956 whoohoo!

Chasez ??? Didn't he quit modding ? If he does work on this, hopefully he won't ditch this project like the Schaefft's CVPI one.

IMO Intensified did a great job converting you Caprice. There are a few issues with the current version, but there should be a release of a final version in the nearest future fixing all of the minors issues.

chasez never really continued on it, unfortunately. So I took the initiative and started myself.
You know, LilQ, most of these bugs have already been solved, as I'm reworking it! And the future versions, as civil, police and taxi will be way moe promising!

Thanks Intensified and LilQ for converting it for me, its not easy to start with San Andreas model. back in early 2011, I asked chasez to let me take over the project again and finished it up after completing my DTS, i notice he's got too much in his plate at the time. My experience with the DTS realize converting to GTA4 is hardest than ever before. I thought i can get it done myself, then got myself into some kind of car accident, then i lost my energy doing gta mods.

Edit: The car looks promising, I have the custom dirt map from lt. Caine if u need it. Just to let you know, the parts of dark coloured exterior trims abd chrome trim are not uv mapped so the damage and dirt may not display properly.

First of all I wanna say it's shocking to read you've been in a car collision. Yet relieving you've recovered. At least, I assume.

About the convert, I don't know if you have any software to get in touch? I use Skype, Windows Live Messenger and AIM. Feel free to get in touch so we can discuss this. There are some things I'd like to report plus I'd love to see your dirt.

No need to ... you're doing SA version, right? Not sure how much you're familiar with MVL, but it reads SA models. smile.gif

No screens since the next one should be in game.

Finally got it to ZMod after few attempts. As usual my detached meshes re attached again (my dash looks like it had a sore lips), so have to split them up again (really tedious job, I partly resolved it by adding gaps on UV maps, i got lazy so not all of meshes received the same treatment). The tire gives me this annoying sharp edges because the mesh split up, so i have to re import the tire w/o uv then re do it on zmod (not fun). I lost my materials so everything have a dandy default shader, it sucks, but fortunately my meshes are broken up by materials, so I can easily re-assign these materials then merged them accordingly.

@SomeGuy86 Getting to SA and vice probably a bit easier except I have to create damage models.
@ALMOST610 never used these fancy mod manager, im still using old school method.

Hey Bigfoot, any chance of a Wagon/ Country Squire version of the 1987 LTD in a future? (afaik the only differnence among these is that the CS has the sides wooden panel)

It is not actually a mod manager, it allows people to add an unlimited amount of new Vehicles (and also Weapons at the moment) to the game without replacing any existing ones, things like AI for Police, Taxi, etc can also be applied to your new vehicles and also special flags like the Hydraulics and other specials things that specific vehicles can do, you can also tell your new vehicle to act like a tow truck and be able to tow other vehicles around, Maxo developed a new system for the Extras which he has called Tuning Parts, so you can have multiple different Boot models, perhaps one with a spoiler, one without, and then like in IV it will place either one of those models, well there is a whole bunch of stuff.
Including Loading SA DFF's and TXD's into Vice City without having to convert them.

It more of an Expansion and update to Vice City's original programming than anything else, you should at the very least give it a test.

whoopydoo! In game shot is here, its preliminary but its kind of working. No texture (except whatever saved in wft file)

You noticed some Schafter parts sticking all over the car and no textures. materials and textures are not completed (notice lights dont shatter yet.

the car seems a little small, because Niko is sitting too high.
