all added vehicle didn't change color?

i remember that some vehicle is using a texture for base color. so you can't change it.

try add another vehicle, that you know, that the color can be changed.

interesting tutorial, but one question: how does it work with helis? what must i do to let helis appear in the game? i mean hijack in the air could become a little problem..^^

you need to spawn it using dotnetscripthook.

it can't be done without scripting i guess.
as it was a special vehicle.

Ok so finally I can get some additional cars ingame, thanks go out to someone else here who provided the files in a RAR for me to examine.

Problem I now have is groups file.

After much testing to understand exactly how things work I have discovered that the car groups file is only reading the last 3 entries in a group.

Is there any particular rules you must follow to ensure addon cars have an equal chance to appear ingame alongside "stock" cars ??

Here is an example of the code I have used.

audia8, audis5, audiq7, bmw760, bmwx5, bmwz4, cls65, escalade, f150van, test, supra # POPCYCLE_GROUP_HARLEM
audia8, audis5, audiq7, bmw760, bmwx5, bmwz4, cls65, escalade, f150van, test, supra # POPCYCLE_GROUP_BRONX
audia8, audis5, audiq7, bmw760, bmwx5, bmwz4, cls65, escalade, f150van, test, supra # POPCYCLE_GROUP_JERSEY

In each area only the last 3 appear, so Supra, Test and the F150Van......for the sake of testing I have disabled ALL of the normal cars so I can better understand the files properly, for the moment in any case, because I had a suspicion many of the addon cars were not spawning correctly with the peds, and because I have patch 5 I cannot spawn any of the addon cars manually at this time.........hence my long winded testing regime here !!!

I have tried the entried alphabetically, randomly, based on OEM entries with mine tacked on the end etc etc.......nothing seems to be failsafe in making sure all addon cars will spawn ingame properly with the peds.

Help much appreciated !!

what part that you didn't understand?
all file that being modded in inside GTAIVMAINFOLDER\common\data and GTAMAINFOLDER\pc\models\cdimages
where GTAMAINFOLDER is where you install GTA IV(for example: C:\Program Files\Rockstar\GTAIV)

is there a way around the 25 car limit yet? or would just refollowing the steps except creating newerveh.ide, newerhandling.dat etc work to add another 25?

I am starting to wonder if there is a heirachy in the file structure etc etc which means it reads the standard vehicles.img for its groups first, going to merge my additional cars into the main vehicles image and see if it pushes the addon cars into a position where they are added properly from the group file.

I have now spent 2 solid days working exclusively on trying to make the groups work properly - failed.

I have limited sucess but not total control, not having total control indicates to me at least there is a factor not being understood or fully taken into consideration thus far.

I have tried combining all the cars into the main vehicles image, no difference, I have tried numerous different ways of ordering the groups, alphabetically etc

I am going to have to call this one quits I think, done everything I possibly can with it.

confirmed, to dodge the limit, just repeat the steps in the first post except change it to newerveh.ide, newerhandling.dat, newerveh.img or whatever you want to call it, seems aslong as the information is there for GTA to read, it shall work, unfortunately simple native trainer only has 20 slots at the moment for addon cars, but it does indeed work if you follow the steps and just rename the new image and information files to something else

I have experimented in all sections, I have had some success getting a couple of cars to spawn in a "gang" slot as well, but it seems limited, you cannot have dozens of cars in a gang slot for some reason.

In what regard is Turismo relevant ?? is there a know bug / work around I need to be aware of with that car, looking at the groups it appears in quite a few ??

I am using the simple native trainer here, works fine etc, but struggling to understand the readme regarding allocation of those slots, any chance you could send me your INI or something so I can disect it to understand it better ?? or maybe some advice please ?

if you mean adding cars to spawn, essentially, its just this:
[AddedCars]
Enable1=1
ModelName1=gt500
DisplayName1=Shelby Mustang GT500

modelname = whatever.wtd (minus the .wtd)
displayname=what you want it to show when it spawns it, so "Shelby Mustang GT500 Spawned"

as it reads out of the files loaded in GTA, it reads out of the extra img files, so just throw whatever the .wtd model name is as model name and set enable to 1 and you're done, just go to the car spawning menu and the cars will show up as whatever you set the display name to, but if you want my ini i can upload it for you, no problems, just let me know

confirmed, to dodge the limit, just repeat the steps in the first post except change it to newerveh.ide, newerhandling.dat, newerveh.img or whatever you want to call it, seems aslong as the information is there for GTA to read, it shall work, unfortunately simple native trainer only has 20 slots at the moment for addon cars, but it does indeed work if you follow the steps and just rename the new image and information files to something else

so, it's the limits of the new ide i guess.

use all the steps, but only add a new ide file.

you can spwan vehicle using dotnetscripthook, but only if you use patch 1.0.4.0 or lower.

i don't know.
as far i remember, every car that added in one group with turismo, never appear in game execpt i sapwn it myself.
even when i drive the added car, no other added car shown up on the street.

it seems after 20-25 vehicles the game begins to go "er, no, i don't like this much" in my experience anyway, so thats why i wondered about recreating the same process with a different filename, and yeah, pretty much just follow all the same steps as before except adding in the new names to the files, so default.dat would have newerhandling.dat, gta.dat would have newerveh.ide, etc etc, basically recreate everything, the handling file, the ide file, the .img file, just with different filenames like newerveh and i found i can get around the game getting annoyed at me

how about if you only add newerveh.ide and let the other as in the tutorial. is it still crash the game?

Have you found a way to successfully make the peds drive all your addon cars out of interest ??? thats the biggest problem I have right now ??

add the cars to cargrp.dat, the model names. That should spawn them out on the street randomly, but as with addon cars for some reason GTA IV only wants to spawn about 550 taxis and a few of what you're driving or whatevers closer, its some weird dumbass bug in the game where the car variety goes out the window, but yeah, add them to cargrp.dat under the popcycles for poor, high, shopping, whenever, and they should theoretically, at some point, appear

yer been and tried that in many different ways.

Experimenting today with trying to get the game to read an additional cargrp file.........Otherwise I am about ready to give it up, like already said elsewhere, pointless having all these addon cars if you cant make the peds driven them and make them spawn naturally into the environment, hence why I have spent so much time on this single aspect.

if you hit any breakthroughs let me know, i'm sick of gta's inability to have diverse traffic once addon cars are in place, it annoys me to no end, apparently its a ram issue but i don't see that being a major problem unless you're running about 512mb

Well thats the kind of conclusions I am drawing so far, the texture memory or model memory size......

With this in mind I may well try unpacking some cars and reducing the texture memory sizes (reduce resolution etc) to a size which is more comparable with the Rockstar cars........

Thats to come in the future tho, just doing a clean install here, hoping I can find Patch 4 and stop it updating to Patch 5 to reduce some of these problems, no doubt will find the info on these forums for that smile.gif
