Just started this last night, spent about 4-6 hours on it so far? Has been going pretty smoothly so far, so hopefully it stays that way.

Right now it sits at a little over 4K polys.
I'm aiming for 10K or less for the high res mesh, then I will use another 10K or less for LODS and everything else.

This is my first car for GTA IV, so we will see how it goes. Any help would be good as far as setup goes.

Where does all these good modelers from old times come from? biggrin.gif Im sure Id remember you, the model looks great, the area around those headlights looks a bit bumpy tho, could you show us some wires?

Hey,

thanks alot for the comments biggrin.gif .

Got some work done on it today. Not as much as I was hoping. Some things caught me up on the model.... I'm still working on the front bumper.

I also need to play around with my wires yet, damn smoothing issues..... suicidal.gif I know tris and 5 sided + f*ck them up, but if you guys have any quick ideas, throw em out.

Hey, thanks smile.gif . Um, not sure yet. Will figure out some of that once I move onto the interior and whatnot.

I am going to be doing some highpoly tires though, and will do a normal map bake and replace ones in the game. I want to do some whitewall tires.

But yes, I am going to make my own tires/rims for sure. Not sure about speakers or whatever else like I said.

tris and such doesn't matter if you aren't gonna use meshsmooth.

For the smoothing errors, try adding another edge loop where you have problems. Here's how I've fixed my smoothing errors:

I saw you on the PC forums biggrin.gif Looking pretty nice. Look up the seam in the middle at the front bumper, looks a bit messy there smile.gif
looking forward for this! hopefully we have 3dmax script soon smile.gif

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, I'm going to take out that bumper seam, I was testing something and forgot to remove it.

I'll try adding some tris into spots to see what I can do about smoothing issues. I'll try and worry about some of those later once I get more of the internal stuff put in.

As far as a max script goes, idk if this is gonna work, but I'm going to try and use this DFF exporter by KM? and import into ZM and save as a .wft with the proper materials that GTA IV uses.

Very small update, but what the hell.....

Just tweaked some small things like the fenders a little, and mostly worked on the bumper.
I think I'm about done with it now (bumper), just need to cut/weld some stuff together.

Ha, thanks tounge.gif

Yes, I will be modeling the underbody, as close as I can I guess.. I'm going to limit myself on some of the geo, but will try to add the big components.

I also want to make the motor fairly believable without getting too crazy in the polys.

Great! I admire those who seek detail in their models.

A little update.

Most of it is small tweaks, and also I got the interior door trim done. I'm going to be moving onto finishing the door tomorrow, then starting on the interior.

Tires/Rims were done very fast, not sure what I wanna do with them yet. The tire is prob good, but idk about rim.

I want to do a highpoly yet for the tire and do a normal, but we will see if I can even replace the game one or not just for this car...

Just a suggestion but i think this car would look pretty awesome if you made a rusty version, one that looks like its been used hard with unmatching body panels and maybe some black exhaust smoke and engine missfires.

I was actually considering it... not sure if I will do it yet or not. Need to finish the model first, heh.

Got a good chunk of stuff done this weekend.

I still need to tweak some things, but most of the interior and whatnot is done.
I just started on the dash, so that will take a little bit.
