At first I was dismayed by the idea it's in 3D, but then I found out it's been filmed in native 5K 3D for IMAX, and Avatar worked seriously well in that format; rather than the tacky "popping out" nonsense of most 3D, it's all about the depth of field (so the screen looks like it's deeper, hard to explain). The only issue is the impoverished resolution caused by the glasses, but you only really notice that if you remove them halfway through. I'l look forward to seeing it at home in 2D 1080p, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in London even more...

Seen the new trailer 3 times already tounge.gif

Anyone seen this trailer? I think it's much better than the regular official trailer.

It's different, for sure. Less focus on tension & more on narrative.

Damn, it's so hard staying away from all this footage! I'l have seen the whole film by the time it drops!

I'm extremely interested in seeing David's role and perception of the events in the movie. I wonder how he will react to what they find.

Also;
Ash, Bishop, Call, David. Seems rather alphabetical don't ya think?

They pointed this out in Empire tounge.gif , which I don't often buy but did because the bitchin' cover and x-page spread on Prometheus caught my eye.

I am so unbelievably stoked for this. Especially so after finding out Ridley Scott came from my neck of the woods. (apparently the local chemical-industrial complexes inspired the setting of Blade Runner, a fact that I can't decide if it fills me with pride or makes me very depressed about my home)

Damn it, I knew someone saw it first.

I too am unbelievably hyped for this movie. Last Wednesday when my girlfriend 'dragged' me to see Titanic in 3D, the Prometheus International trailer was shown before it started. It was so f*cking glorious I actually shed a tear. Seeing it in 3D was sweet too.

Yes I'm double posting! Ban me all you want! It won't change the sheer mind-bending thrill of this trailer!

Don't worry. Double posts are okay, as long as you've waited at least a week, and your second post is productive to the discussion.

But, yeah, I can't f*cking wait for this. Almost as excited as I was for the Avengers. But like I said, in a year like this, the excitement is diminished. Still excited, just not overly excited.

What's even more amazing about this is, according to the YouTube posting, that it is FANMADE, not official. Can't tell the difference. Remarkable. Very good use of music too.

Saw that last week. Interesting to finally see something from Yutani, but even more interesting to see how dubious it is.

This film looks awesome. I watched the 1979 Aliens film not so long ago as well which was good although a bit predictable. the alien hiding on the ship while they're leaving I've seen the trailer a few times in the cinema, especially this one:

What's the song that starts at around 0:50?

And so it begins:

Reviews are flooding in, and many of them are lukewarm, with some outright hating it. The problem lies with Alien: way too many reviewers see
Prometheus as Alien 0, not as its own film, and are giving unfair judgments.

This is not a Horror, they are universal on that fact.

I'll be seeing it in BFI IMAX 3D in just over 22 hours. My expectations have dropped like a Stuka, but maybe that's not a bad thing. Hype is The Devil: Seductive and Hideous. *coughGTA4cough*

Just saw it at an early press release here in Vancouver. Absolutely loved it. Like many reviews said, it's not a horror movie. It answers many questions that Aliens left unanswered, as well as raising many questions of its own. The trailers did not spoil the movie on bit, as it is pretty damn different from what the trailers portray. Loved every minute of it.

Oh, and the 3D is not bad either, not too over the top and did not hurt my eyes after it was all over. Really smooth.

Caught it last night. It was the first time I'd been to see a film at the cinema in a while and it made it all the better. I loved every minute of it. I'd argue against those people saying it's not at all a horror film. Sure it's not the same style as Alien, and it straddles the line of action/horror pretty squarely, but there are a number of quite unnerving and tense scenes, plus a smattering of jump scares.

I really did love it though. Rapace, Theron and Fassbender are all fantastic and absolutely nail their characters. The supporting cast gives a nice backdrop too, with Idris Elba taking the lead on that side. Rapace in particular is great as Shaw though, I really hope we see her in big roles in more English pictures following this.

It just looks beautiful from start to finish too. From the very alien landscapes of Iceland to the somehow simultaneously soothing and disconcerting yellow glow of the lights of the ship and the exo-suits. Those suits are visually stunning too; the deep blues with neon orange highlights evoke a massive contrast between the aesthetics o the crew's world and that of the "engineers", making everything on the planet seem just that little bit more alien.

It's one of those films I instantly can't wait to get on DVD, just to watch the features and stuff. The production must have been amazing to work on

Saw Prometheus last night and it was f*cking brilliant in my opinion. Reviewers complained of the film not being directly/obviously linked to Alien and that the film didn't answer any questions, though for me it couldn't have been any more linked to Alien without actually putting the exact Alien creature in it and it answered some big questions that Alien raised (though created some of its own though it's good to have some mystery and the possibility of a sequel).

My only real quirk is the soundtrack. The music itself was pretty good I just thought some of it was misplaced, used in scenes where it was out of place and the like. Overall though I had a huge Alien-fangasm, and the film doesn't even feel like Alien. It's all about the greater mythology man wink.gif

Speaking of which, anyone know what the piece that played over the end credits is called?

Can't get it out of my head but can't find the name either.

Saw it today. Was alright yeah, made me tired in the end. Wouldn't want to watch it again.

Also, I haven't seen Alien in so many years that I cannot even think what it wraps up. confused.gif
