LA Noire is not using RAGE. Team Bondi develops their own engine. Here's what I got from the dev: "No, it's not Rage, it's our own engine. No official name for it unfortunately." But keep in mind that RAGE Technology Group from San Diego also helped them to create the engine.

LA Noire for PC...What now? For real? Sorry, I didn't read all the way back, but is this really true?

This is some good news.

Maybe there is some hope for a PC release of RDR.

And is it stated anywhere that LA Noire is not using RAGE? I thought it's like what R* use for all their latest games. smile.gif

Rockstar wasn't the sole developer responsible for this game, it was a collaboration between several Rockstar Games studios and Team Bondi, and the game was already partially finished when Rockstar got involved.

There may be crucial elements taken from RAGE in LA Noire's engine, but it is most certainly not RAGE.

This is using Havok engine as far as I know, and a separate engine for facial animations.

Havok is just a physics engine that almost every game uses.

So it's a RAGE-something hybrid. Rockstar Games owns the copyright for L.A. Noire so conceivably Team Bondi's contributions could be absorbed into RAGE in future Rockstar games.

You could say that, but remember that Bondi's engine is almost completely different from R*'s RAGE.

this engine is made with the help from R*.and it's not RAGE engine or "RAGE something",making an engine is not easy than you thought. bored.gif
if it was RAGE engine, they could use it and the game would release much earlier.

Havok is for enviroment in game, not facial.most of game had this engine.facial capture and animations in L.A noire are made by Bondi themselves as some of the first game using mo-cap.

Eventhough I'm still hoping for it, I highly doubt it now that the game has been out for a very long time (more than a year).

It would be damn nice though to have RDR on the PC. Just imagine the improvement in graphics and the (in my opinion) much smoother gameplay due to the freedom with keyboard and mouse.

R* know that the RDR engine is very similar to IV's, so naturally you'd very quickly see Niko riding around on a horse, and John Marston lost in LC, which IMO is the main reason they haven't released it on PC.

No. Why would you miss out on millions of potential profits because a few thousand will see some silly mods? They haven't released it because they've entered some kind of deal with Microsoft/Sony.

I'm still sure they will release it eventually, it is one of the best games of this generation and will sell very, very well. Rockstar have proven they're not being total cocks to the PC crowd with L.A. Noire, and I'm guessing they really do want more people to play it. Microsoft and Sony probably wanted RDR to be a pioneering console title to show their products as the superior gaming platforms, so they made it console-only and promoted the hell out of it.

No, they haven't released it simply because it was originally a R*SD game. No R*SD games come to PC since Midnight Club II did.

Just played through The Naked City case: a large chunk of that storyline was lifted from a movie. I never made the connection between the case name and the original movie name - I did see it a year or two ago but couldn't quite remember.
Anyway - it was okay. Going to have to go through it again - I was having a bad run at questioning - wrong choices everywhere.

Plus GTA physics are way ahead of LA Noire's anyway.

I think I know why Floyd Roses name was in Errol Shrodder little book and here's how to explain, see Floyd was currupt, Errol knew about him and was trying to get him arrested for it so Floyd steals his gun, gets Scooter Payton to meet him in the alleyway and shoots him, goes around back, up the pipe and places the gun perfectly so it in the reflection of the window and the rest works out for it self.

Finally got around to downloading Nicholson Electroplating this afternoon and have not long completed it. Again i found it to be a pretty decent length but there wasn't much of a plot.

I don't know if it was just me but the background noises seemed loads louder then the main game and the other DLC.

We already know since it's already been stated that L.A. Noire uses Havok instead of Euphoria for the physics.

7 years? Well that just proved my point. They went over budget so they're releasing the game on PC in hopes of earning more money. Like I said, they didn't earn enough, RDR did.

He's saying that because RDR profited more than LA Noire, they ain't gonna release a PC version like they are with LAN.

He really didn't say anything about which game is better.

Probably because a lot of people have been discussing the fact that LA Noire is getting a PC port while RDR isn't.

If any of the recent posts in this thread were pointless, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they were yours.
