*cough* dusty old topic biggrin.gif

You can use TimecycIV or EditIV, for modding timecyc.dat. These are great tools, but I can't say they are perfect so you're gonna have to try out everything yourself.

Anyway I might make a V2 of my mod. The release won't be soon, but I'm already working on it. Expect something like this:

Why do we need it to be so dark? Where are the street lights?
Ok make the enviroment darker, but a real city is never so dark, not even at night... Proper street lights is what we need.

The city is not dark, the shadows are dark.Maybe they should be a little bit brighter, but even now it is very realistic.

The awesome thing is that you can customize your shadows to your liking in game. You just have to set the contrast to a higher value, and the shadows won't be so dark. Anyway my settings are:
Brightness: 50%
Contrast 0%
Saturation 100%
With Brightness you can adjust the bloom level.
Sorry no new pics yet, but you can check out the screenshot thread. I pasted some more pics.

I have a gripe about all these so called "Realistic" timecyc mods. They look good but that is completely different from being realistic. Could you turn your mod around and actually make it realistic? It'll mean more downloads....

Ok I know v2 is coming along very slowly, but the mod is not dead. Thanks to kriller2 I managed to "get rid" of the clouds in extra sunny weather. So here are some new screenies:

(if you don't like very dark shadows, you can adjust it with contrast settings in game (right now I'm using the darkest settings for shadows).

Ahm what coronas lights? If you are looking for sprites, I'm using the vanilla ones.
Anyway good news, RTC v2 is soon ready. Expect release on weekend. Check the first post for pictures...

Hi Rob,
Nice work, I can see you got the no clouds for extra sunny working wink.gif

It looks very dark on my LCD monitor, where the brigtness is set quite high, are you sure it's not to dark?
Looking forward to try it out when you are satisified with it icon14.gif

Well yeah, it can be very dark at night, but these shots were taken at 0:00 when it's the darkest and my constrast is set to the lowest value (in game, so you can customize it). Anyway on the newest shots, I added the clouds back at extra sunny weather, cuz it looked very plain.
And as for the shadows, I heard some of you didn't like it so don't look at the pictures on this page, cuz they are kinda old biggrin.gif , but check out the pics in the first post. It has been made a bit lighter.
You might notice there's a bit too much bloom at sunsets and sunrises. I've tried to bring you the sun's blindening effect. (is this gramatically correct? wow.gif )
And last but not least, I'd like to say thank you for kriller in helping solving the "film grain" bug, and helping me out in the sky settings smile.gif

Hi Rob,
yes you are right that the shadows are very dark at night, but I was refering to your picture from the day: http://img25.imagesh...s/i/sunnyj.png/ where the shadows would be more light and the buildings in the background should receive more sunlight/ambient light.

Look at this picture: http://img687.images...i/newyorkf.jpg/

as you can see the shadows are not black but a more light grey besides the building. The only place the shadows is completely black is under the car, because of the object casting the shadow is to close to the ground and therefore the ambient light is zero.

You are welcome smile.gif the critic above is just me trying to improve on your work smile.gif

Yeah I was thinking about that too, I think I'm gonna release 2 versions, where you can choose from the dark shadows and the realistic ones, cuz some people said it looks nice smile.gif Oh and the buildings in the background, I really wanted to make them brighter, but unfortunately I have to set sky's top color to white to make them more brighter, which will enables the effin film grain. Do you have a solution for that? I'd really appreciate it smile.gif

Anyway sorry about the delay (damn valve time biggrin.gif ). I made the shadows more lighter. This is how they look now:

To tell you the truth I really don't have a clue which version it is, but you can only enable reflections on car. I think it's the first release or maybe second (if the first is anti aliasing). I recommend it because it'll give you high quality reflections and you don't even have to enable ENB for it, just install it smile.gif

BTW I tried uploading the mod on gtainside.com, but I'm not sure if it has been accepted

Yeah EditIV is the best tool for tweaking timecyc. Anyway I've played with the contrast settings in EditIV. I can't really tell what I did, because you have to experiment with the settings. After you set the contrast and brightness, you still have to tweak other parameters.

Well, I really don't want to mix my mod with others, cuz some idiots would say: "you stole xy mod", but you can modify your timecyc (for personal use ofcourse). So all you have to do is open timecyc.dat and copy my night (from 22:00 to 5:00) and paste it in env mod's timecyc.dat. It's really easy:

For example, this is extra sunny's weather. Just copy 10PM, Midnight and maybe 5AM and paste it in kriller's timecyc. I'm sure kriller would agree on modding timecyc for personal use smile.gif

Yeah EditIV is the best tool for tweaking timecyc. Anyway I've played with the contrast settings in EditIV. I can't really tell what I did, because you have to experiment with the settings. After you set the contrast and brightness, you still have to tweak other parameters.

thanks so I need to play with the contrast in the other parameters in editiv? and there's some another option do I need to play with?
and again nice job!! biggrin.gif

This mod is by far the most realistic one during night. I mean, nights are DARK. Pitch black if there are no lights around, this mod delivers smile.gif

Thanks, and KEEP UPDATING! smile.gif

Thanks man, I'm glad you like it. Anyway I might release a version 2.1, which includes much stronger reflections, new sky color, new clouds, no more reflection from water (this made the sky's bottom cian) and I'm gonna include a stipple.wtd, so your shadows will look better. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna include a much more darker water as well. Now here are some screens from the very beta. Any idea on what to change?
