Tips regarding the cover system:

- NEVER use the cover system (R1/R2) if you are near a corner. Veteran and auto-aim players can easily shoot and kill you if you are near a corner, because you will be exposing yourself. Sometimes R* poorly programmed a corner and bullets will come flying through the edge of the "wall" and hit you.
- Only use the cover system if you have reliable cover and run into it. Never stop short of a barrier and hit cover, because your character will delay in getting to the cover destination, however cool and stylish the animation looks.
- If you do use a reliable cover barrier, rarely ever should you use blind fire. It is slower than the formal aim and fire system, and veteran players are not afraid to run toward you during blind fire and use other intimidating and aggressive tactics in order to corner you.
- Your character moves slowly when he/she is in cover mode.
- Blind fire is more inaccurate than regular aiming-and-firing. Unlike in the offline game, expert players are far more excellent marksmen than computer-controlled enemies. The only time I can think of blind fire being prudent is when you are cornered and you are being ganged on by multiple enemies who are within a short distance from each other.

Boats:
When racing with boats theres a way to get an advantage.
( PS3 ) Just hold foward on the left analog stick. I'm holding foward almost the entire race.
It's Kinda funny sometimes. People see your boat going faster then theirs at the start and automatically assume that your cheating somehow. Just ignor it. LOL

Gotta love a thread that after a year of playing and almost a year here, I find things I didn't know about.

Might have to write up a "how to fly/crash the chopper in BDB" tutorial for those lucky enough to A) not get dropped and B) not have griefers blow up your chopper.

Awesome thread! I'm by no means an expert but here's a strategy I've been using, if it comes in handy for anyone great.

In situations where you're in a sniper duel, find your way to a low cover such as a freeway railing. Something just the right height that you can see and fire over when standing but are safe behind when crouching. You can go into target mode while still crouched, zoom in on the area where you adversary is, and lots of times his blip will show up in your scope even though you can't see him. You can do a very quick crouch-uncrouch, while staying in target mode, to get a visual on him without giving him time to fire on you. Do this a couple of times to dial in your aim so you're not standing there vulnerable while doing it. Then pop up and put a cap in his noodle.

Also, the combat sniper reloads much faster, but it seems like the hunting rifle is a bit more powerful per shot. Does anybody know if that's true? Perhaps when the guys are doing the weapons comparisons they can look into this.

If you are being attacked by a player in a car and you lack RPGs/grenades and you can't get a good shot at the driver (or if you are in a car),try shooting the back tires a bit and they will quickly catch on fire,dooming the vehicle.VERY effective in races.Usually,the driver (outside of races) will get out of the car,making them an easy target as they exit the vehicle or they ride around a bit more then get out.However,some players will attempt to kill you kamikazi/suicide bomber style,trying to take you down with them.(I personally aim for the back left tire,but I'm not sure if it works better or worse or the same for the back right tire)

Haha, that`s probably the best bit of advice you can have concerning cover. Even with AA on it`s better to `glitch`, tho I`ll add corner-glitching when someone comes up with a good explanation (I`ve tried, but I can`t make it concise)

I`ve also put the Coquette in place of the Banshee (Watch the vid - it`s the last race) it`s the only carin that class I`ve got victories in, as is the Infernus, it seems heavier and less apt to spin off.

Oh, and I`ve also put the credits in, sorry `bout that

sorry but I have to disagree with the inferfus thing. The comet is more powerful/quicker, top speed and acceleration. She takes a little getting use to, but once you tame the comet, it will be well worth it.
as for the banchee vs coquette. It's a close call, their both good cars, the banchee is a little quicker in acceleration, but the coquette has a bigger top speed.

the corner glitch happens whenever you fire from the edge of a corner on your left side.it has to be a wall or other object that is taller than you,and it only works from YOUR left b/c your character is a right-handed shooter. alien.gif

But seriously.

When your car catches on fire you have 30 secs, don't jump out immediately. I see people make them mistake a lot. The jump out the second they see flames only to be gunned down or run over.

not totally sure about this but, I think you also have to be zoomed in.

I don't think that's true. You have to make sure that your reticule is not on the corner itself but just beside it. When done right, you will still hit your target in spite of the corner being in the line of fire. There might be more to it though...

GTA Race (PSN)

This is something I figured out (by accident) just a cpl weeks ago:

While in GTA Race, if you exit your vehicle, you can pick up multiple weapons. That much, I am sure, everyone knows.

What I have never seen anyone post about before (and I, of course, don't read every post here) is that once you have multiple weapons, you can get back into a vehicle and can now switch between weapons while driving by pressing the square button!

This is extremely helpful when you have grenades AND a gun. Switch to grenades when leading and want that guy off your tail, then switch to guns when you miss and they pass you. icon14.gif

Also, here is a vid I made showing why its so important to tap out your gunfire instead of jsut holding down the trigger...

Weapon hoarding:
Hold square to drop weapons. making it possible to pick up another one.
if your in 1st place at the beginning of the race, and you pick up the 1st weapon available, you can just drop and pick up every weapon, making it so no one else gets a weapon (unless they wait for respawn)
Kinda cheap I know, but hey! it's a tough city. smile.gif

(GTA) Race:
If someone is coming towards you to hit you (griefers), just slow down (and try to avoid him/her. Make fake moves). Don't mind the others, if you are good overtaking them is not hard. If you have done it right, the griefer hits the one who overtook you and you can continue your way to the finish.

Don't know if this has been brought up. Its worth repeating, anyhow.

This goes for both sniper-rifles.
Crouch up and down FAST while pulling the trigger just as fast. This will enable you to empty a clip in maybe one second.
Great for bringing choppers down.

Im really surprised ive yet to see anyone else use this while in multiplayer...

Another thing is, when playing with FF Off in free mode, if you get caught in flames - just press START until the flames dissapear. You will not die this way.

Yeah I go with the banshee too... its a nicer handling car. The coquette has oversteer and the sultan has understeer which forces you to go round some bends sideways =/
