Np Guru. Glad you got it fugured out in the end. Happy 3d'ing. biggrin.gif
& @ Retro. When you add an alpha channel there should be the option to do so 'BY COLOUR'. Im not sure what the little button will look like, probably an eyedropper. Click it, and select the background colour (which should be gtaf blue for nice blending). If your still having problems link a screenshot and ill see what i can do

And again I have to ask something. I have imported the frames into PS and they are all layers. Now when I press CTRL+ SHIFT+X, I get an filter of some sort called Liquify. Then when I go to file, Export, there is no export wizard. Please help me.

Yeah, my tutorial covered the procedure for Fireworks.
In PS, i believe the command is, 'Save for web'. It should give you various optimisation options too (I think), such as the transparency eye dropper, as well as obviously, the option to save as an animated GIF. Although im not sure (im not too familiar with PS) smile.gif

The questions almost definately improve the tutorial (as in they search out all the flaws)
By all means, ask away! smile.gif
Id be intrigued to see how the graphic turned out for you, guru. Care to post? biggrin.gif

Narcis, It seems sometimes parts of your logos are too dark at times, (I know the dark and light contrast indicates its 3d to the viewer) but sometimes its best to keep things visible. Try playing with the positioning of the lights.

And I'm here again. Everything has gone well until I choose Save for web and devices. It brings up a window and I don't know what to do. Screenshots would help greatly. And in fireworks, when I do export wizard, it says error so I can't use fireworks.

@ Guru. Ive plucked this screenshot from the web, so I dont know if this information will be 100% accurate.
It looks (as I thought) almost identical to firework's export wizard.
Click this dropdown box and select 'Index Transparency'

user posted image
Then, using the eyedropper tool, select the background colour

user posted image

Proceed to then save your animated gif
Edit: Added this new information into the original tutorial (as an additional screenshot) smile.gif

M|chael: OKay thanks but again, I don't know how to make it transparent, do I choose transparent on the grid or choose the GTAF default from my image?

Narcis: I'm 13 so I may not have the brains like you older people and English happens to be my 3 language. I know you think I'm very bad at reading tutorials but please. Be patient, I'll get it today smile.gif

There should be a Transparency check box, make sure you've selected "GIF" from the dropdown menu to access the GIF settings. If you'd like someone with Photoshop to take some screens, I can help, I appreciate it's hard to follow a tutorial that's not written specifically for your preferred software, but it's quite easy to export a .gif in Photoshop.

Edit: Here's a screenshot for Photoshop CS3 and 4, in case you're still having trouble using Photoshop for exporting the animation.

user posted image

Not that the "Matte" colour is the same as the default forum background, this acts as pseudo anti aliasing when viewed on GTAF.

Ive added a third screenshot to the original tutorial showing you exactly what to do Guru smile.gif
You select the desired colour from the preview window.
You'll crack this sooner or later, and realise how stupidly easy it was in the end too ... biggrin.gif

Nice to see you helping people, Michael. That's pretty rare with some of the better GFX'ers around here. I might try this out sometime. I got Xara3d in the past, but I never taught myself to use it like I did with PS.

I'll have to test mah skillz yo.

Thankyou, Panz!
Its not that hard once you get a firm grip of it. Narcis is really the model student here, he grasped it on his first few attempts biggrin.gif
I wouldnt say that things from Xara3d look all that sharp in general, but its nice to know you have the ability to produce 3d under your belt. (even if its not true 3d)
& it certainly looks a lot more impressive and complicated than it really is, so its a nice little skill. I'd definately reccomend giving it a shot, since you already own Xara, and all.. if you follow my tutorial word for word you shouldn't get lost
Good luck! lol.gif

but i dont know how to make them move smoother (Look at wolf's), my work in Xara looks perfect (and they also move perfect), but when i upload them on imageshack or other image hosts they kinda slow up confused.gif

Narcis, Change the number of frames in each of the sections under the Animation window.

user posted image

Its always a compromise between the smoothness and the speed.
Generally, the more frames, the better it flows, but it will initially take a little longer to load due to the increased filesize caused by the extra 'weight'
Play around with the settings until you find a nice combination that your happy with. The screenshot shows the settings I always use, which are fine in my eyes anyway smile.gif

Wolf's Just runs a little faster. (Lower Frames per second, & a High Frames per cycle) so it looks silkier.
It has to be the frames, since there is no other option on Xara for playback. I'd PM him and ask what settings he uses if you'd like to know.

Sorry for the bump but I just figured out how to get this working properly

So I've made this: user posted image

Just want to ask is it good or is there any needs of improvement?

Yeah it looks nice, .. What was your problem in the end?
On the improvements side of things, I'd probably take off the gloss so its just a solid matt finish without any of that glisteny stuff.

Also, remember.., when exporting, Xara will leave 'blank space' around your graphic, So, for example, if you exported the graphic out of Xara with a canvas size of 64x64, it would leave some empty space around your logo, meaning it only took up about 40x40px. (Like your first try)
To get around this, change the canvas size (ive found the perfect size for something square) to be around 85x85px. This will mean the graphic has become enlarged into this bigger canvas, meaning it will take up around 64x64px (which is what we want? no?) When you import this graphic into PS/Fwks and crop the canvas down to 64x64px, there will be NO empty space around your graphic, as the remaining bit youve cut off will BE the empty space.

^^ If thats hard to understand just try it for youself. Export a graphic at size 64x64, then, export a graphic ay 85x85, and crop it down to 64x64 in PS/Fwks. You'll see .. smile.gif

Other than that, remember to play around with the lights. Sorting out some great angles helps achieve a really well lit graphic which is always better on the eye than a 'dark in places' 'extremely bright in others' logo. Remember, this is the button to enable you to see and edit the lights

Well, I didn't use any other program than Xara to get this. All I did for this was using a Dingbat circle and put the smiley face inside and change the background color into the default GTAF skin color and imported it as a animated Gif. Nothing more.

I was wondering why the size was small and I'll give a go for that procedure you gave. Thanks smile.gif

EDIT*

I did what you said and this is my result:

But there is still a little pixels around the edge.

It's with white edges.

How to remove the white edges? I used Photoshop CS4.

EDIT: I fixed the problem, I just messed out with the Matte in Save for Web & Devices.
