What sort of modes do people expect or want from TBOGT?

i reckon there'll be some form of races, something similar to club business from TLAD although im not sure what, and probably something to do with drug deals.

anyone elses thoughts?

Other than Free Mode which is basically a given, it is likely that there will a Fight Club mode if it is added to the singleplayer gameplay.

yeah i honestly cant see a fight club mode popping up, its just not gonna work with the game mechanics and the online lag when fist fighting

Lag is a prominent factor during any online game mode, it is just often more noticeable during certain game modes than others because in matches like Deathmatch because bullets not hitting their targets could just be put down to bad aim, but a close quarter combat game mode it is more noticeable. Plus lag is based off of connection quality, not necessarily how well the mode itself is built.

you should try and play xbox live on my connectioin here in australia. its horrible. and really noticable in games such as cod 4. were you get to see the other persons perspective when you die, and get to see how far outta sync you are.

For multiplayer im praying that Rockstar finds a middle ground between the regular GTA IV Annihilator and the TLAD Ridiculously strong Annihilator so we can use them again in free mode

The lag with melee combat can be seen as an outcome of the huge open map of GTA IV. A fight club preferably happens indoors (underground, garages) thereby preventing the lag. I think a fight club mini-game would be 1v1 like Chopper Vs Chopper, other wise it will turn too much into a wrestling simulator. To also accommodate for lag, I think the fighting will be more sluggish and skill based to make games even and more fairer.

I don't doubt there will be specific DLC modes like in TLAD either. Maybe more co-op missions akin to those seen in TLAD. I can imagine having to escort someone from a nightclub (or any other high profile area, and preferably in a Limo) with team-mates, whilst another group of players aim to stop your client reaching the desired destination.

Another thing I could imagine is a pink slip style of racing. Using online or single player currency and wagering it over races. Maybe even specific designed cars (tuned ones, of which many people will hope make it into the game) can be gambled over a race. I think it would fit in the style of the game nicely. And if not, maybe minor changes to race (the way they're presented, car selection, track types, etc).

And as for Free-mode, I won't expect many vehicles to be honest. Maybe a few of the new vehicles will make the cut, but other than that I wouldn't' expect much to change. Vanilla didn't have all the original vehicles itself, and TLAD only added the new bikes from the DLC (not including race etc).

I'd like to see a mode similar to "The Ship", where everyone has 1 randomly assigned target which they see on their minimap, and are the randomly assigned target of someone else in the city. You have to kill your target, and are then assigned a new one, while avoiding your hunter (whom you cannot see on the minimap). Last man standing wins.

It isn't coming out on PS3, it's the second of two episodic content packs exclusive to the Xbox 360.

im begining to thing therell be a 'witness protection' style game with one team escorting high profile people around instead of witnesses, and the others controlling random street thugs to chase down and kill the target. i think thewre may be a 'lone wolf biker' style game although how that would be themed i dont know.

I think they should be a little bit more creative with multiplayer this time round. Most the multiplayer modes in TLAD were just reskined versions of the previous multiplayer modes in the original GTA IV like Club Business and Mafia Work, Turf War and whatever TLAD Turf wars called, they could atleast put a new spin on the Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, like spawning you in little scenarios like in a contsruction site ducked behind cars all close so it starts suddenly, and you should start with a full set of weapons.

I think a cool new Multiplayer mode could be take over the tug where one team starts in the tug (and when one person drives the tug passengers are free to walk around and don't fall off like what happens now) and the other start with half their group in a helicopter and the other half in a boat, and the point of the game is to get the tug to your teams check point on the map by taking over the tug and driving it there. The tug can't be destroyed.

I like the tug idea. The screenshots of TLAD multiplayer showed something similar. I can see it now: people leaping out of helicopters and landing on the back of the tug with a thud and getting shot straight away tounge.gif

Some people think a fight club would be good though i think it would be very unbalanced.

Unless rockstar got some tricks up those dirty sleeves.

Personally i want more BTB and HMN modes.

Out of interest, what do you mean by 'unbalanced'?

What i mean by unbalanced is for example: When brawling in GTA it lags alot melee times are all wrong players would lag alot people would prob find a easy way to ruin the mode.

But perhaps i made have used the word wrong, If so my bad.

True, although lag is a problem in all game modes, it's a lot more noticeable when it comes to close quarters fighting, but there isn't much that R* can do about that because it's based on people's connections.

They should have it like so theres a suitcase full of drugs/ money whatever in an apartment block and one team has to defend whilst the others attack. And the attackers have to get the drugs/cash etc back to there base whilst a time limits going on. At the end of the time limit the attackers win if they have the drugs and the defenders win if they have the drugs etc.

Fight Club-
Deathmatch with only fists and melee weapons. Locations are small areas with boundaries such as interiors and fences in areas (basketball court where Roman is beaten up for example). You can't go beyond these boundaries or you will lose money and be reset back in the boundaries.

Standoff-
All players work together to survive 6 stars for as long as possible. Limited respawns.

Riot-
All pedestrians have weapons and will attack. Players earn money for killing peds. Players can kill each other, as there are no teams, but receive no reward beyond the money dropped by the killed player.

High Crimes on the High Seas-
Each team has it's own yacht (fingers crossed!) which is roughly the size of the tugboat but considerably faster. The goal is to destroy the other team's yacht. Half of each team will spawn on jet skies (fingers crossed!) while the other half will spawn on their team's yacht. 1 Rocket Launcher spawnpoint on each yacht which will respawn 2 minutes after being picked up. The yachts are very tough and will take at least 5 minutes to destroy. No player spawn limit.
