I recently started modeling a base Horse mesh.

My first 4 legged animal model. I found it quite complicated to get the holes for the legs right.

Are you applying turbosmooth, if so, why? Back part seems slim. When I did the horse, I usually started with legs, they seem more complex than shape overall.

Meshsmooth. Just to make the shape smoother. And back part is not even done, it's cut. smile.gif

It's cool, bro! Did you planning do full body ?

Reason : The model isn't good quality, but textures makes it realist. If I can give you a proposal, you should make more detailed nose, ear and new 3D eye. Trust me, it will be looks more realist or photo realist. wow.gif

@curtis: in the second attempt you made shapes too sharp.
The first belly is a bit smoother than the second. Try to work on that - I mean, I know nothing about the human anatomy, but it's looking weird. He's a six pack with some little fats on the side, got it? smile.gif

But it's looking very realistic. Did you already worked on the ears?

The head is going to be a nightmare.
I'm still asking myself if it was a good idea to lower the polycount from the back legs.

Curtis: I think a nice mix of what we see in the first and second would be the perfect one. There are some tiny details from the first one that look better on the second one, and vice versa.

That looks good. Maybe you should make both legs the same amount of polygons tho, just to keep things smooth.

Maybe look like a man for some of you, but already making it based on the references.
And tweak it by looking at other references like female face anatomy .

Thanks goin. Yeah, doesn't look girly enough, but i still think it will looks a lot better with the texture.

This will be my first post around these parts I believe. Nothing special, really. It's just nice to try something new.
So after 4-5 other characters made I felt I had enough practise to remake one of my oldest characters. Surprisingly it only took around 4 - 5 hours to get this far. I am pretty happy with the result.

Tbh i like the second picture better, it's more oldskool. like PS1-2 kind of age.

I think the view doesnt do the body justice properly. it is quite curved, to me atleast.

Oh, and great human you got there. But like most others have said there's just something about that face. maybe make it seem "larger" without increasing the head size?

Well, most unhuman character only have 3 fingers.
That's what i see on most videogame though.

Show us the reference. It does look more manly in that angle, but there are women with manly faces anyways.

On the matter of fingers, one shouldn't limit his creativity to what most people do.

Hah, we must come from very different places. All toons I have seen have had 4 fingers, instead of 5 like humans. Since this is based on a Raptor I want to keep that style with the claws, therefor leaving the feet with only 3 toes. But he should be able to do tasks a lot like our, so instead of going all reptile on him only having 3 fingers, I left it at 4.

Why the old model has 3 fingers is because I didnt quite know where to start when it came to making the thumbs.
So when I animated him I made his fingers really flexible so he could still grab small objects and keeping a solid grip.

But already tweak most of the the raw model from the references.
I didn't want to do like most of people did on their female model, like pointy chin, big googled eyes, and sexy lips. Because yup, there some women with manly faces in this world.
Just wanted to do what i want to do. But yeah, maybe if i already make her hair model and textured all of them, but it still looks too manly, i'll going to redone her head. icon14.gif

And not limiting his idea, just giving him another idea about the hand. tounge.gif
But yeah well, everybody have different styles.

Anyway, using my earlier texture and applied it in this model (UVW a bit messy, just to show you how it'll look anyway)

Not that manly, i think. With hair and eyelash, would look a lot more feminine.

That sculpt looks really kick ass. It looks very natural to me. Good work wink.gif
EDIT: Hm... both of those sculpts look nice. I like the aggressive look on Smith's face.

And the female head looks more female now. Getting more convincing that it's a woman and not a man. I would perhaps move the bottom of the cheeks in just a tad. Only sutble.
