I found these pictures while searching for "chinatown wars artwork" on Google Image Search. They are quite insightful and show us really how detailed the graphics in Chinatown Wars are:

There are lots more on IGN's website. I think it really is interesting as too how much detail Rockstar Leeds put into the map. Especially considering the fact that the majority of it isn't seen due to the camera angle.

That's dedication for you.

Wow. Rockstar really did a great job.

I like CTW's graphics more than IV's. Ofcourse IV's are more detailled and HD, but also more dull and serious.. kinda resembles Niko's story. CTW's graphics are colourful.

I also love the 'cinematic view' of CTW. I hope the next GTA gives you the ability to play the game that way.

The way they carefully transposed Liberty City from high detail to low detail is pretty neat. Almost makes me wonder what a San Andreas/Bully-generation version would look like.

Makes me think. I'm not experienced at all in coding or anything of the sort, but if a skilled individual were to take CTW on an emulator, and somehow modify it so that the camera angle is from that view and expand the draw distance so that you can see more in front of you. I assume this is either impossible or extremely difficult, but I think it would be pretty cool.

Nice...But not surprising. R* has always had underrated graphics. For each game they always make some type of "Jump", in either pure graphics, or graphical detail.

Kind of a shock, isn't it? I didn't think the Nintendo DS was that powerful either but I guess I was wrong!

Wouldn't it be cool if the game transformed into a GTA3 style camera game on the much more powerful DSi? biggrin.gif

Is it me or do the streets in-game kind of remind you of the GTA III version of Liberty City? Maybe it is just me.....

I was walking along a street on the game earlier and there was a part which really reminded me of walking down towards Joey Leone's garage as Claude in GTA III (aah, memories.....).

I think RockStar Leeds have done a great job in presenting Liberty on the DS. They have made it look really attractive and less gritty than the console versions like ScratchCard pointed out. It's an interesting camera angle too and walking past a place/building you recognize from GTA IV is always fun from this angle.

Those pics are a nice find, good job! Thanks.

As it will be a while yet before I get GTA IV, Chinatown Wars has already got me loving Liberty City.

Especially Algonquin.
