Michael Spoleto was born and raised in Liberty City. He had a troubled childhood that involved him working as a drug mule at the age of 8. This led him to a life of crime and drugs. In a downward spiral caused by a cocktail of alcohol and violence Michael found himself working for the Ancelotti Mafia. They saw his addiction and desperation as an open ticket to exploit him for their own selfish needs.
He eventually worked his way up the ranks, gaining the trust of several key Ancelotti members. Michael began selling the drugs rather than taking them. A situation which left him rather uneasy at first - but he excelled at it none the less. During a routine deal, Spoleto was cornered by the Police, and forced to free the scene; loosing both the drugs, money and his freedom.
The Don offered him a chance to escape Liberty City and work off his debts. They sent him to Vice City in order to earn money and pay them back for his mistake. Michael accepted, knowing the only other option was to stay in Liberty and face the combined wrath of the LAPD and The Ancelotti Family.
Michael met his first contacts in Vice City: Hector and Pablo Sanchez. A pair of Hispanic dealers who operate out of a derelict gas refninery in downtown Vice. They set him up with work and started him on his way to earning his lost funds. He does low level dealing for them and works his way up from there.
Michael and the Sanchez Cousins start selling drugs to and working for The Canuzzi Family, Vice City's most powerful mafia. They set up a deal with The Family which, if successful, would settle Spoleto's debts and allow him to return to Liberty City. However they soon find themselves at the receiving end of a barrage of bullets, as the Canuzzi open fire on them and steal their drugs. Setting Michael back another couple of grand.
They flee to the everglades were they start working for the Bayou Brothers, the only people in Vice City more inbred that The Sanchez Cousins. The Bayou Brothers introduce Michael to Mikhail Petrenko, head of the Petrenko Bratva. In exchange for much needed funds and weaponry, Michael helps Petrenko with his bitter fued with the Wu Lan Chai Triad.
He is soon contacted by Roberto Falcon, a FiB Agent who knows about Michael's sordid past in Liberty City. Falcon threatens to arrest Spoleto on the spot unless he helps bring Mikhail down from the inside. He intially refuses until Falcon puts him in handcuffs and offers to hand him over to The Canuzzi. Michael is forced to betray his friend in exchange for his continued freedom.
The Canuzzi soon put the pressure on Mike and The Sanchez Cousins, forcing them out of the Everglades and into Jem Islands, where they begin working for various low-level street gangs; selling drugs and evading the Canuzzi whenever possible. He meets Jack Kelly in the Everglades, who becomes a useful friend and ally later on.
Petrenko contacts Spoleto in prison and asks him to break him out. Mike and The Sanchez Cousins bust him out and make their way to Roberto Falcon's Mansion where a bitter gunfight ensues between the criminals and Roberto. Mike kills Falcon and lays claim to his mansion, using it as a base of operations for his conquest of Vice City and The Canuzzi.
The following missions revolve around dominating The Canuzzis, weakening them and discovering the location of Johnny Canuzzi.
In the finale Mike, Petrenko and The Sanchez Cousins discover Johnny's whereabouts and attack. They invade Johnny's home and manage to corner him. It is then that The Sanchez Cousins reveal their allegiance to The Canuzzi and kill Petrenko. Mike manages to escape with his life and chases The Sanchez Cousins through the Neverglades before cornering them and killing them both. He then turns his sights on Johnny. Hunting him down on his own he manages to kill him and retrieve his drugs.
In the closing Movie, Mike is greeted by The Ancelotti's, who ask him for their money. When he hands it over they offer to take him back to Liberty City. Mike looks over Vice City and decides to stay, keeping the majority of his exploits on the down low. He's got a future ahead of him, and the ageing Ancelotti's aren't going to get in his way.
Cue credits. Thanks to Jacky Fiend for the story

A rising star in the Vice City underworld, the Ortega Cartel have started stealing various drug shipments to kick start there aggressive take over. Despite there gung ho attitude, the are some of the only criminal parties to not back stab Mike, helping him to track the Snachex operations after he is sold out to Johnny by his former partners.
The Sanchez cousins run a huge drug smuggling operation and also have many dealers to sell them on the streets or to other dealers. They are big players and have connections in Peru, Columbia, Cuba, Jamaica, Brazil, and the biggest Heroin producing areas such as Afghanistan and South East Asia. They work largely with Hispanic and Black dealers, but do some work with the Mafia Families.
Canuzzi Crime Family
An Italian American crime family who split from the Pavano's in 1968. They deal primarily with drugs and gambling, and have had the drug trade at their heart when all the other families wouldn't touch it. They also have car staling ring set up. They aren't very honourable and are known to backstab deals with people they don't particularly like. There underhand back stabbings have given them a bad name, but their ruthlessness has threatened most possible witness away from testifying.
Run by ex-KGB agent Mikhail Petrenko, this bratva is extremely violent, and is involved in gun running, and distributing the weapons of the eastern bloc. Petrenko is ruthless but honours loyalty. He killed his way to the top and was heavily involved in contract killing too. In the 90s he traded guns for coke to South American rebels, and started the links that he would build on in the future, to make his drug empire.
Ancelotti Crime Family
Although they may be the weakest of the Five Families of Liberty City, they are on the up and still have huge power and respect in the underworld. Mike Spoleto was related to Anothony "Black" Spoleto, but arguements with his bosses caused him to leave and go to Vice City, where he is initially told to gain a foothold for the Ancelotti's, which is the exact opposite of what he does.
Wu Lan Chai Triad
The Wu Lan Chai Traid operate in Hong Kong and LC, and have just made a move to Vice City. They have huge interests in rackets but are held back by in fighting and bad blood. They had a disagreement with Petrenko and have since been keeping an increasingly uneasy peace, every day closer to full blown war. A decision is made by mike in a mission to help the Wu Lan clan secretly against one of Petrenko's underlings, in order to maintain relations with them.
Run by the Albanian Valdrin Rusgova, it works in a pseudo-miltary way, often doing work for Mikhail Petrenko when he needs it done under the radar. Although they are supposedly small time, they run a blackmailing ring and people trafficking that bring in large amounts of money. Valdrin himself built the empire from scratch in the 90s and is highly respected, and is currently chipping away slowly, and covertly at Mikhail's Empire, hoping to take it apart totally.
Have been operating in Vice since the 1910s, they have only recently dipped there hand into the flourishing drug trade. They are having huge troubles with the Rusgova Mob, and the FiB are currently investigating them for racketeering charges and drug distribution, it is believed that within a month a key witness from the Ferragamo's will testify, and maybe bring an end to the floundering organisation.
The Bayou brothers, from New Leon are working on drug trafficking and mostly stick to operating in the Glades, working with the Sanchez Cartel and using tourist paddle steamers as their transport. They also bring drugs in from Asia via the Calm Sea cruise comapany they have shares in. Although the 4 brothers may appear simple, they are vicious and a strong sense of family and loyalty remain eminent amongst them.
Cuban cartel are a large local force, taking in drugs and using the glades in an alliance with the Bayou Brothers to help ship cocaine and heroin in. They can mostly be found in Vice Port and their HQ are in the Cuban slums in South Vice. They also control a large container ship that is hidden in the Jem Glades, disguised as a run aground ship, which they use as a covert business location.
Taken from my post in the CELL PHONE topic.
How about you have a really simple phone to start. Like a Crappeo phone, no camera, nothing. Just calls and texts. It can't even use cheats. Then, after about Mission 5, you get enough money to purhcase (a mandatory mission nessecary phone purchase) and you then get one with cheat capability, and the ability to call special phone numbers (911, pizza, taxi etc.). Finally, after about mission 20+ and then you are pointed to a phone store.
Here you can purchase better phones. Like a phone which is the exact same as the previous, except it has a camera. Then you can purchase one with a better cam, stores more photos and can text (you could receive texts, but now you can use pre-established answers to get replies.) Finally, you get the best phone (The iPhruit, $6000 a little pricy!) which has email, internet, MP3 (Songs on Indepence FM or your Hardrive can be played from here at a reasonable volume) radio (ingame songs) more special numbers, better backgronuds, excellent camera, unlimited photos, more special numbers and touchscreen interface.
Some of the numbers you could call would be pizza (whoever's idea this was, great job!) to get them to bring cheap health replenishes to you, taxis if you are far away from one and need it, maps (show bus routes, and other points of interest i.e restaruants, bars, dealerships, properties for sale etc.) Then (I'm quite proud of this one!) you can target someone, then call 911. Select police, and when they ask fro the problem, you can dial 123 and the come to arrest the person targeted!
You can arrange meets (not just to go out with friends, you can arrange side missions to begin from your current location without having to drive to a far away place.) You could even browse the web, go to Crappea and order furniture, and find it delivered at the selected safehouse! That would be great! You could perhaps organise a meeting to test drive a car at a dealership (chances to nick rare or even dealership unique cars) and select positive, negative, neutral or something else answers to friends questions, which affects there respect or like of you.
Now I know these things sound crazy or too hard to impliment, but imagine if R* did this it would really increase re-playablility. And just think, if they do this, they could add this sort of detail to many aspects of the game, it would be fantastic.
Safehouses and Customisation
In GTA: Fortuna, you have exactly that, a fortune. So what better than to spend it on that the safehouse! You can order furniture to be placed at your hideout via the internet or via your best phone which is unlocked at the end of the story. Once you have ordered the furniture, if you are at home and you leave the safehouse, upon your return you will find the items there. Better beds mean you can control what time you wake up at, better coaches mean you gain small health boosts from sitting on them, the better the coach, the higher boost.
Tv's and computers with access to more websites can also be purchased. The theme of the safehouse can also be changed, (Similar to Saints Row 2) with the themes, Dump, Squat, Dirty, Messy, Normal, Organised, Rich, Mansion (amazing interior). Certain safehosues cannot be upgraded (safehosues earned though missions) but buyable homes can be customised. Some also allow for more garage space to be bought. Furniture and the Tv and other items can be moved around in the buyable safehouses, so it can be re-organised to make it look better or even fit the quick gamer, placing the health resotring itemms by the door.
Safehouses can be bought and sold via Vice Realty, an asset you can buy for $350,000. Once bought, you can trade real estate and large amounts of money through it. You can't sell all the safehouses, only the ones availble via Vice Realty.
Gang respect works like this.
100%: Gangs love you, if in friendly territory they will send 2 cars of 5 guys to help you in shootouts, missions or cop chases. You can go to the gang leaders home and clubs, and hang out or do special side missions with them. Gang cars are unlcoked at your garages.
90%-99%: Gangs love you, and send 1 car of 5 guys to help if you are in trouble. You can hang out with the gang leader.
80%-89%: Gangs will send 3 footsoldiers to help you if in the area. From this point up, you can take territory for them.
70%-79%: Gangs like you a lot, and will help out if you are in trouble. They only help if you call them, but the charge is very low.
60%-69%: Gangs like you a lot, and will help if you call. You are still charged regular prices for use of their clubs and assets, but backup is slightly discounted.
50%-59%: Gangs like you quite a bit, they will help but only for a price. They accept weapons in their area, and if they are fired on they won't fight back.
40%-49%: Gangs like you, and if you are attacked by a hated gang in their territoty near some of their men, they will defend you. They accept weapons, but if you fire them they act more suspicous.
30%-39%: Gangs like you only a little, and won't defned you unless they are also threatened. If you draw weapons, they will tell you to holster them and follow you until you do.
20%-29%: Gangs are neutral, but the peace is tense. If you draw weapons on thier land, they attack with melee weapons. If you fight back, they attack with full force. They are suspicous when you use their assets.
10-19%: Gangs don't like you much, but they keep the peace. If you draw weapons and don't holster them, they will attack full on.
0%-9%: Gangs don't like you, and as soon as you un holster weapns they attack, and will stop when you holster them. They won't defend you even if they are being attacked, they will withdraw.
0%-10%: Gangs dislike you, and will make you leave their areas with punching or melee weapons. You can still use assets and clubs of theirs, but any fighting and they attack.
-11% to -20%: Gangs really dislike you and attack when you pass by, but don't pursue. You have to have killed a lot of them for this to happen. You can no longer use the clubs they own unless you make peace or fight your way in.
-21% to -30%: Gangs hate you, and will use full force to kill you when you enter thier turf. They chase you, but only a little. If they go into your turf, they turn back.
-31% to -40%: Gangs loath you, and if you pass by they chase you untilhey are kiled or you lose them. They fire on site and will sometimes fight your gang members.
-41% to -50%: Gangs want you dead! They sent 2 cars full of enemies to kil you if you get too close to the turf borders. All their men chase and try to shoot you in thier turf. This happens when you systematically destroy thier assets, and kill many members.
-51% to -65%: Gangs occasionally send 3 car hit squads to kill you if you are on the same island or area as them. They wil ldo everything they can to kill you, and are harder to lose. They attack your assets and turf too. Your gang members are also targeted.
-66% to -75%: They hate your guts. They send 4 cars and a chopper with an armed gunner to take you down. This is rare, but they will send 2 cars quite frequently. This happens if you take out their leader and don't take over the gang fast enough.
-76% to -90%: They send everything after you, and they even pay other gangs in the 0% region to attack you! They chase you in 5 cars and 2 choppers if you are unlucky. This happens if you keep attacking them, killing them but leaving them alive, barely.
-91% to -100%: They pay others in the 0% range to attack you as if they were -20%. They send 2 choppers, 5 cars and tip of the cops sometimes when you are doing a drug deal or something else, and they give you a 2 star or 3 if you're unlucky. The game becomes really hard here, you are constantly on the run.
To raise your standing, just bribe them, do jobs for them or give them assets or portions of your monthly asset profits. Once a gang is completely eliminated or sufficently defeated to a point of not being an issue any more, your gang hate/like is removed for that gang.
Car Dealerships in Vice City are totally functional. You can buy a lot of cars from there and have them delivered. Some of them are a part of vehicle garages, where you can store more than just 3 cars like at garages on your house. At garages you can also mod cars, but it is not as advanced as San Andreas. the modding is still very complex though, and Nitrous can be refilled at the Petrol stations next to Car Washes.
Back to dealerships. Once you steal a car and deposit it at Ocean Motors, you receive the option to keep it or put it for sale. Once on sale, you an change the price and sell the car. That way, you can sell high end cars and make huge amounts of money. At your garages at safehouses, if a car is blown up and you have completed the Towing side missions, it spawns back at the garage.
