Yes, finally it was announced today!

QUOTE
New York, NY March 23, 2009 Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Max Payne 3 is currently in development and scheduled for a winter 2009 release on Xbox360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Developed by Rockstar Vancouver, Max Payne 3 tells the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence.

The award-winning Max Payne franchise put players in the role of Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family. The latest installment delivers more of the classic elements and hyper-intense action that fans have come to love, while moving the story of Max in a new direction.

"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out.

Well...

Im staying slightly skeptical about this one since it isnt made by Remedy and possibly Sam Lake.
I hope they dont lose the atmosphere and pace of the first games, that would be a real shame.

Since it's being made by Rockstar this time, I wonder if it will be as well-optimised for PC as GTA IV was.

I remember the first two being optimized as hell. You could run it on max settings on a mediocore machine at the time of their releases.

Hopefully, this new one will be similar.

Chuck Norris? Nah, to me he looks more like that guy from The Suffering series. Just a little, I think. And a little like Bruce Willis.

Anyway, I'm excited for this but skeptical at the same time. I played both Max Paynes on PC so if they f*ck PC version up, I will not be happy.

F*CK YEAH MOTHERF*CKERS

Wait a minute, I have to finish screaming like a little girl.

Finished.
As you can see I'm excited. My favourite f*cking franchise with my favourite f*cking character continues! Hell, I'm probably even more excited than after hearing the announcement of GTA IV PC version.

I hope Mona has a role in this game.

Just read it on my homepage. I can't f*cking wait! The Max Payne games belong, in my opinion, in the list of best games ever made!

One thing worries me: 'Rockstar Vancouver' is going to develop it... not Remedy. Will they be able to follow the brilliant style of Max Payne made and established by Remedy?

The website looks already really cool (logo 'breaks' with the old Max Payne style ... but gives that 'Max Payne feel'... beardy Max looks pretty kick ass). But Max seems to be bald... or is it just me?

I can't wait... I'm already hyped up for this game. They may not screw this up!

My friends and I were talking about this at school today and now, I see that there actually is going to be a sequel... I mean, f*ck yeah. The first two were absolutely awesome, the best storylines and gameplay I have ever seen. So, hopefully, three should be just as good.

I don't know, having her "come back from the dead" (Yes, I know, she didn't die the first time, be we all thought she did.) again would kind of screw the story up a bit... I mean, just leave her be, don't over do it...

Damn, the official site isn't working for me, can anyone else check this?

YEEES! I loved the first 2, I honestly cannot wait for the third, bring on Payne! Will the original voice of Payne return for MP 3? I hope it will be a f*cking rebuild not a port for the PC mad.gif

Well, 1 and 2 on the PC were amazing, I don't even want to think about the console versions, the PC one just rules. Hopefully, it will be the same for 3. I have faith in the developers smile.gif.
Anyone think Euphoria and/ or RAGE will be going into 3? I would rather that over Havok...

I'm not sure if I'm excited or worried, I love Max Payne, I just hope this turns out to be as good as the originals, but considering Remedy aren't involved, who knows.

Extra reason to check the internet daily ... Max Payne.

and cold fusion 33: If I remember it right, Max Payne 2 has an alternative ending when you finish the game on the 'hardest difficulty' (Dead Man on Arrival? Damn, it's been too long!). In this ending you can actually see that Mona survives and Max lives on happy ever after.

I'm not fully sure though... I really need to play those games again!

Ah, I see... Well, in that case, then bring Mona back! I just didn;t want the old "Oh my, she's dead (Some years later) Oh shi... No she isn't. thing again, that would seem stupid and repetitive. Im sure the guys there will craft another masterpiece. As long as they stick to the gritty atmosphere, dark (Comic book) narrative and Max's wit, then Im sure it'll be fine.
