That's not my video, just some random thing I found on the YouTubez. I posted it because Beep always does that voice command and it's totally lame.
The game is really fun though. We had to take out that same leather-faced dude from the demo who has a key on his belt, wields a chainsaw and eats bullets for breakfast. Lucky for us, it was dinner time (it really wasn't). It was the usual Benny Hill style chase where Beep runs away from enemies complaining he's got no ammo and I'm shouting at him telling him it's his own fault and he's useless. Anyway, We (mainly I) put enough shots into the guy to take him down and he drops this key so I go over to get it thinking this guy is dead. At this point Beep has run off thinking the danger in gone. I pick up the key and the motherf*cker gets back up like Jason. I was holding a grenade and was right next to him so couldn't really defend myself so I got chainsawed in half... Again. We got through it eventually. It's a constant struggle but that's what makes it so funny.
edit: You are doing better. To be fair, I feel helpless sometimes. The ammo preservation is what makes it difficult (especially with you) but that's kinda what makes it fun. Also, just did some quick research and you were right about the treasures. Selling them is their only purpose.

PC MASTER RACE!
Seriously though, both the consoles look like a gimmick as oppose to anything slightly useful to devs.

@Tubbs: "Soap Opera" is a term for any drama-heavy show, therefore The Walking Dead is a soap opera, as is GoT
Also, they kill more walkers in the first episode of season 3, than the first 2 seasons put together. Jus sayin...
@Sweaty: You should watch Spartacus, it's
I watched half of the 1st season like a month ago, and It was so boring I had to turn my tv off just so SOMETHING would happen I've been told sh*t kicks off when the king gets beheaded but when does that happen, Season 2?
So Samuel L. Jackson is quitting acting.

I must've missed the part where they gave? Or are you talking about them giving us information that states all the things they're taking away from us?
There's nothing wrong with being a critical buyer Dboi, it will only make the products better in the end.

Only thing that perks my interest is the Kinect (Oh boy I'm expressing interest in the one thing that everyone hates on). Like it or not motion technology IS the way of the future and your keyboards, mice and gaming controllers will soon be ancient relics of a bygone caveman era in electronics. I can understand the hate though, humans oftentimes fear that which is unfamiliar or strange to them but I have a feeling they'll fall in line sooner or later.
In the end I'm likely not going to buy either of the next gen consoles. The specs on both are woefully unimpressive and while Microsoft is at least attempting to be innovative in some of its features and attempting to cater to more than just the basement dwellers that call themselves "hardcore gamers" I believe its too little too late.

This is what last generation brought us:
- High definition graphics
- Surround sound
- A better, wireless controller
- Party chat
- Playing games from the hard drive
- TV shows and movie rentals
- External and cloud storage
(yes, it also brought us day one DLC, online passes and other forms of fa**otry, but that was only during the final stretch)
I don't think anyone feared any of that. Now you're telling me that the main (positive) thing this generation will bring is Kinect controls? How do you envision that working anyway? Because I just imagined controlling any of the games I own right now purely with Kinect and my hands were constantly in front of my face. So even if it does work, accurately and lagfree (which is highly questionable), I would still constantly be looking past my own hands.
The specs being unimpressive is not something I'm concerned about. I've never been concerned with console specs vs. pc specs because graphics is not why I buy a console. The whole being able to fall down on my couch, grab a controller and start playing -part is why I buy a console. Apart from that, you can't compare them on a spec-by-spec basis anyway, they're completely different beasts. The closed-box format of a console gives it a significant edge over a PC with similar specs. Apart again from that, it's all in your head anyway. PC users were more than happy just a few years ago with the graphics consoles are producing right now, just like how the consoles a few years from now will produce the same graphics high-end PC's are producing right now. Similar to the whole question of buying a game at launch vs. waiting for Steam summer sales. You'll get the same thing, just a little later for less money.
That being said, the mere thought of the possibility of Sony following suit makes me think of finally casting aside the ease of console gaming in favor of the requirements, DRM, patches, drivers, tech-race and other bullsh*t of PC gaming because it will be the lesser of all evils. Although I do shudder at the prospect of coming home from work, ready for a relaxing gaming session only to be greeted by my game not working for whatever bullsh*t technical reason my PC manages to come up with.
Edit: Sweaty, that's not a "Summer is here song"! Try this:

Sure the likelihood of that may be hypothetically low, but there is a wide mixture of stupid, evil, powerful and intelligent people out there. Then again, people are more than willing to have a laptop with a built-in webcam (you'd be hard-pressed finding the laptop ideal for you, without one), but it's another reason why people might opt for a controller. Although to be fair, the Kinect could potentially see your whole room 24/7, so good luck having a clear conscience if you wanna froth over some good old fashioned HD-porno in the same room. So some would argue, that it not being an 'necessary' part of the machine, it should be detachable from it. I believe I read that you have to use voice commands to log-in/turn the console a few weeks back, which I hope isn't true, cause that would cancel out some of the benefits I referred to before.
A lot of the fear for the Kinect, is because it is branded as the Kinect. The Kinect tried to put a huge focus on a core-audience (for a market that doesn't run/work off one), following in Nintendo's initial success, but look at the mess they're in now. But that's the quirky-gimmick of motion/voice control in videogames for you, because there isn't a sustainable market for that (there is for traditional videogames however), again, look at Nintendo. With a huge focus on the Kinect, I think it has people in doubt as to whether it will damage the quality and focus of the games, meaning that the hardcore audience is much better elsewhere (there really isn't any depth to them at this point, and virtual reality is more than likely the better alternative if we want to see a combination of both technological marvel and gaming goodness). Which would leave Microsoft with out a carrot to lure people with, if it wasn't for the whole television-social angle, which is great, and there definitely is a sustainable market, but with the Kinect's relationship as a gimmicky videogame controller, it makes you wonder whether Microsoft and developers won't completely crap on any balance they could have with the actual games they put out. Especially as they've shown that the hardcore gamer is no longer their primary concern. So Nintendo are busy being a fumbling mess and the new Xbox could become a complete separate entity, leaving hardcore (console) gamers with only the Playstation 4 in that circumstance. Some of it is a bunch of 'what if's', but it leaves a cause for concern for those that are invested in the gaming aspect of the new Xbox.
As for the hardware thing, the architecture in these consoles will be second to none in comparison. Sure, the core components are nothing to jizz all in your wank-sock for, but the actual architecture that threads all that stuff together will allow developers to gain new tricks and tools that will allow them to manipulate hardware of both consoles and PC more efficiently, so therefore the PC and what developers can achieve with their games thrive off that, and it means the components will be used much more efficiently as well (meaning it will be more powerful than if you were to put in your computer).

As far as the privacy issues you're having Guru I'd be a lot more worried about smart phones than the Kinect. Just last week a old high school friend of mine who works for a software security firm showed me a app that can hack into peoples smart phones miles away and give access to just about every aspect of it, including the camera. And if your so worried about it then I don't see why you can't simply throw a jizz rag over the camera lens? Problem solved. Nice to see you posting outside the PFs and the V section though, keep it up.
@Booze-graphics are by and large not a huge issue for me, I play Minecraft for gods sake. Regardless, simple mediocre upgrades are not going to really advance console gaming as a whole only keep it barely afloat. In my eyes all both Microsoft and Sony have really done is give their respective consoles a pace maker and a hearing aid. Sure some of those things you listed have indeed helped keep the interest up but nothing was very innovative, all just adaptations of PC technology who had most of the things long before consoles.
@Sweaty-I notice a lot of folks around here act far differently in their posting behavior in regards to whether or not they see me online. So *poof*

I plan on sticking with the PC for the meantime (until the possibility of another Grand Theft Auto releases on console first), and gaming isn't really a huge passion for me like it use to be, but I did still tune into the Xbox One conference. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be a gamer, a nerd, or whatever, I just really can't afford to invest too much time into it. Gone are the days of playing Crash Bandicoot during breakfast before school.
The V section makes my brain hurt, sometimes I find myself asking why I even bother posting there.

I really wouldn't be surprised if the Kinect had a way of telling that the camera was covered or obstructed and won't let you play if it is. Real Black Mirror sh*t.
Also, anyone feel like playing any games tomorrow Gta perhaps?
Posted 07 June 2013 - 10:21 PM
And I don't mind if the console's upgrades are just PC features, if they're good features I welcome them, as long as the console still does what it does best: play games without any bullsh*t.

But now that I've read Booze's post of what the last-gen consoles brought us, I realize the Xbox One isn't bringing anything new except Skype Thanks for killing my hype Booze JOKES!
I'm still going to get both consoles, only time will tell which one I get first. Either way they're both going to have to fall of a truck
@King: I haven't seen or read anything about the PS4 so I didn't know that, but I wasn't saying the DVR made the XB1 better anyway. I was just saying it was a nice addition
@Cal: I'll be online tomorrow, are you still up for Gears of Whore?

I actually dont have any qualms about the Xbox One because i never loan my games out to friends and i couldnt care less if the Kinect has to always be on. I personally like Kinect. If i wasnt a lazy SOB I'd take mine out of the box and plug it in. If any body wants to hack into it on the XboxOne and see my fat naked ass playing video games, then so be it. they'll be the ones with major mental scarring that Shrinks wont be able to fix at all. Or maybe MS is planning on announcing ChatRoulette for Xboxone as well.
