You must check the release notes for all info, it seems they fixed some few stuff related to 9600 GT SLi under Vista 32 and 64 bits. If you also check the RN of beta version 182.05, they mention a "out of video memory" fix on xp 32 bits.

I had LOTS of problems with the 181.22's using GTA IV with Patch2, I changed to the 182.05 beta drivers & everything was fixed, im still using them but I will give these newer ones a try.

Thanks for the links Thales.By the way,did they "merge" the whole 8-series card type selection at the official site?First time was wierd not having to choose which card you actually have.

I did benchies with 181.22 and 182.05 as well.

However, 180.84 still gets me the best FPS.

I'll wait until someone posts before-and-after benches of these before downloading.

I installed 182.06 but I find I have lost a couple of FPS compared to 180.84, 30.45FPS compared to 33.79FPS previously. Also noted that the CPU load increased a lot, 79% compared to 63%. I'm not sure why that would happen, nothing else is running.
I tried it just playing in game and it seemed nice and smooth until I got a phone call and suddenly the game slowed down a lot, 2 FPS ish. After the call the game sped back up but it didn't quite seem as smooth as before.
I'll try it a little longer but I think 180.84 remains the best driver for me. I am using an 8600GT 256Mb (using system memory to make up for the lack of on card memory, -availablevidmem 1.4)

Hope this helps someone smile.gif

Can't remember earlier FPS exactly but I would say I gained 2-3 FPS from this new driver.
Compared to the last "proper" driver.

I got a 5fps boost over 181.22's but nothing over the 182.05 betas I was using, but thats to be expected, 181.22's also gave me slowdowns & crashing problems with patch 2 installed, not the case with the betas & now these WHQL ones.

That's wierd,i only get to choose the product type, product series, operating system and language. If i choose the 8th series the product simply vanishes leaving me with only one option. The 8th series, that's all.I don't get to choose my exact card type(8800Gt,8800GTX,8800GTS)you get the message.Same if i choose the 7th series, but the 200 series let's me choose from card type.Anyone else get this?

According to tweakguides.com, this driver appears identical to the earlier 182.05 Beta, with the exception of a single bug fix for the GeForce 9 and 8 series under Windows 32-bit. But i also didnt find any mention in 182.05 RN bout the 9600 SLI fix on Vista 64 bits (included in 182.06 RN), so im not sure.

Would it be possible for someone to do some before and after benchmark results, I'm just curious to see if there is any improvement.

Because they don't make a habit of fixing performance in games where the devloper deliberately slacked off and expected video card companies to pick up someone else's slack with new drivers.

I just shoved the new drivers on here, but before I did I took a benchmark :-

Benchmark with 181.20 driver

Statistics
Average FPS: 58.50
Duration: 37.06 sec
CPU Usage: 77%
System memory usage: 70%
Video memory usage: 98%

Render Quality: High

VSync: Off

Hardware
Microsoft® Windows Vista" Ultimate

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
Video Driver version: 181.20
Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

Benchmark with 182.06 driver
Statistics
Average FPS: 53.45
Duration: 36.95 sec
CPU Usage: 81%
System memory usage: 77%
Video memory usage: 97%

Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 1440 x 900 (60 Hz)
Texture Quality: Medium
Render Quality: High

So according to the benchmark I just lost 4 - 5 fps. I had a quick drive around and it still felt the same, still getting around 30 - 40 fps. I would say there is sod all improvements with this driver but it can't hurt to have the latest driver on your system.
