I watched The Drop, It was discussed here a couple of pages back, really good. Tom Hardy was the standout, such a good actor.

Ender's Game

enders_game_poster_mini_390.jpg

I went into this film not really knowing that much about it and really went in thinking that it's got Harrison Ford and Sir Ben Kingsley in and it's Sci-Fi, so it can't be that bad.  Actually I was right it wasn't bad at all.

Nice little mix up with the casting, with Ford playing the quasi bad guy, well technically he's good (even if Han shot first), but the character is morally blinkered by revenge, which is a little different from his usual roles.  The casting of Sir Ben Kingsley, whilst possibly a little misguided considering the background of the character, was maybe a little off, but was maybe a good choice, as the film would have been as too much of a Harrison Ford vehicle without another big name on the bill.

The story itself, harks back to the 80's with it being about kids being the focus, much like films like War Games, D.A.R.Y.L, Space Camp etc, more so the latter, possibly due to it being based off a book written in the 80s.  The premise is basically the kids are being trained to fight an alien species, which once invaded Earth, and the plan is to fight back to prevent it happening again.  The way this is done is through a series of tests to see how good the kids are and then a series of simulations of battles.  The implied idea is that the kids will be less emotionally involved and not as revenge driven as adults, although this isn't really that clearly explained in the film.

The ending does have a very good twist to it, which for the fear or spoiling it does make you think... and that's all I can really say, without spoiling it.

I would recommend it for a viewing; whilst it's not an epic spectacular, you won't feel that you've wasted time one bit.

I decided to re-watch the Wolf of Wall Street as I hadn't seen it in a couple of years. If anything it's better the second time around. You are more aware that Belfort was an embezzler who lost the money of many innocent people. The final scene in the movie where
Spoiler
The mass hedonism and excess that is the focal point of the movie is as such seen in a different light. You now ponder how his actions have affected others, instead of just focusing on the wild lifestyle.

Belfort is an unrealiable narrator, since you are seeing what has happened from his point of view you are seeing a skewed, more narrow view of events, maybe some things were embellished, maybe others were omitted.

At the moment I am reading Catching the Wolf of Wall Street which focuses on his cooperation with the FBI, recalling his exploits for them, there is some overlap with the movie and it gives more insight into what drives Jordan Belfort. I bought the book in a second hand book shop so I didn't actually buy into a Jordan Belfort enterprise, something I became aware of when writing this.

Great movie. It just sucks that it's in French, I had to resort to subtitles, lol. Hopefully it'll get an American remake soon, and hopefully it won't suck.

Just back from a screening of Terminator 2 which has been restored/remastered and I watched it in 3D. First 3D feature film I've seen. It was amazing to say the least. I didn't even know it was going to be in 3D until I arrived at the theatre and I was skeptical about 3D feature films but I have to say, I'm impressed. It also helps that Terminator 2 is one of my favourite films since I first seen it when I was kid and we rented from the video shop.

Here's a trailer for the remastered version. Check if a theatre is showing it near you. It's always great to see classic films in the cinema. I can thankfully add that to the other two favourite films I got to see in the cinema; American Psycho and Goodfellas.

Transformers Dark knight , nothing positive about this one. Sure Isabela Moner was a nice slutty looking preteen

95c10a7b70381f1a06c9eecec99b1f96--isabel

and Laura Haddock tits weren't bad when pushed up all the way up.

0496370.jpg

However if i want to see porn, i rather see some good stuff on pornhub. When i want to see Transformers, i don't want this bs.

Guardians of the galaxy 2, I just don't like the humor in these movies.

Logan 'Liked it a bit, nothing special though, the kid IMO ruined the movie'

Assassins bodyguard, best movie of 2017 so far IMO. Good humor, awesome non-cgi car action as well.

1013955_fr_the_voices_1421846396868-e142
The Voices stars Ryan Reynolds as Jerry, a mild mannered cheerful factory worker living in a small town. However Jerry has severe mental health problems which causes him to believe his cat and dog, Mr Whiskers and Bosco are talking to him. It's interesting watching Jerry's back and forth dialogue with his pets who seem to represent good and evil, Bosco wanting Jerry to do the right thing and Mr Whiskers with his hard Scottish accent constantly belitting Jerry.

Jerry finds himself attracted to a fellow colleague but things take a dark and bloody turn for the worst. Now he has to turn to the wisdom of Bosco and Mr Whiskers for help. it's described as a dark comedy but I wouldn't agree, I'd describe it as a dark surreal drama with the occasional blackly comedic moment, that's not a critisicm, it's a very good movie but from the description I was expecting something different, something tonally along the lines of So I Married an Axe Murderer.

It's worth a watch, it will surprise you, leave you wondering wtf will happen next, there's one particular scene with certain favourite song of Jerry's playing that will stay with you for the sheer surreal oddity of it.

I finally watched Interstella yesterday night, been on my IMBD watchlist for ages.

I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as I was hoping I would. The reviews I read and recommendations from family were all incredibly high, and to me it didn't quite reach the same level of excitement as everyone else.

Still well worth my time, though.

The last space film I watched was The Martian, which I definitely preferred.

It did not disappoint and I would recommend it. The transitions between the different personalities, especially when he is seeing his therapist and you see his facial expressions begin to change to a personality, is pretty awesome. As would be expected, even though the poster says "23 personalities", you only really see about 4 or 5, in total, but that's not a surprise and doesn't take the away from the movie at all.

I noticed that The Lord of the Rings extended editions are on Amazon Prime.  So naturally I opted for The Fellowship of the Ring last night.  Quite after 2 hours though, got the other half for tonight now!
