Credits to me and my site GTA-Expert.com, do NOT copy this without my permission smile.gif (original link here)

Excuse me for my bad english, my english-to-italian is excellent, but my italian-to-english isn't so good, I'll translate my italian tutorials for you smile.gif Hope screens could speak more than 1000 words biggrin.gif

I'll correct al my english errors with your help biggrin.gif

Make a pair of new shoes

You have to know: how to import/export textures with OpenIV/SparkIV.
| ~! Importing files with SparkIV !~ |
| ~! Importing textures (.png format) with OpenIV !~ |

Introduction
In this tutorial I'll teach you how to create a pair of shoes for Niko. In my example I'll make a pair of Blue Nike Air Max Plus (made in 10 minuts, so the quality is almost a sh*t but is for the tutorial wink.gif )
You could use Photoshop or another graphix program wink.gif

Export the textures
First of all, you have to extract "feet_diff_001_a_uni.wtd" from playerped.rpf (Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\models\cdimages[/i]). (See image here).

Then, you have to open .png file with Photoshop.

Then go to Google Images and search images for your shoes.
MUST: search a lateral image, a sole image
OPTIONALLY: a image from the top

For this tutorial I'll use this image.

You could work only in one of the two halves. Once you have finished you could duplicate the right shoe for the left one and vice versa.

Suppose to split the image with a imaginary turquoise green line:

Henceforth I'll refer on this image for the different parts.
In my tutorial I'll work on the right shoe wink.gif

The sole is easily recognizable and easily editable: you must find a sole image of your shoes and re-size it.

6 and 7 parts are between sole and lateral part: you must find a lateral image of your shoes and re-size it.

Now, let's work on the real shoe.
Also in this case, we could work suppose to split the image with a imaginaryred line. You could work only in one of the two halves. Once you have finished you could duplicate the right part for the left one and vice versa.

Let's go

Open the image found in google images and select Magnetic Lasso Tool. Magnetic Lasso Tool.

Then, select our shoe, without the part 6&7 (between sole and lateral part).

Copy and paste the level in our feet_diff_001_a_uni.png. We have something like this now:

Go to "Edit" > "Free transform tool" (see the image).

Rotate and re-size image in this way:

And apply tranformation.

Select rubber tool.

and delete the parts exceeding the shoe:

Now we have to adjust lower part of shoe and resize it in the right way.

Select Magnetic Lasso Tool and select our part:

Then, right click on the selection and create a cut level.

Resize it, reducing a little bit:

Then adjust upper part: select Smudge Tool and use in this way:

Select rubber tool and clean:

Now we have to unify the two parts in lower part of shoes. Use Smudge Tool from lower part to upper part and correct some mistakes:

Now, increase smudge tool size (like in this image)

Then use the tool like in the picture, covering the related part:

Click and use it from lower to upper part:

Now, we must still use smudge tool for the middle part:

Now unify two levels

Use rubber tool and delete exceeding parts:

Now adjust strings /laces parts. With smudge tool major size:

Use in this way:

Use in the right way, to allineate strings with other parts

Now our half is finished. Unify the level and move a little bit to the right.

Use Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal tool:

Move the new level in way to unify with the other part:

and remove exceeding parts with rubber tool. Adjust other parts and little corrections.

Now we have finished! You could also improve the logo making it bigger for a better view of textures in game.

unify parts and duplicate the new level in order to create the other shoe.

Here's an example of new shoes.

You could download it here.

Hope you like my tutorial and should be useful for everybody who didn't know how to create a new pair of shoes smile.gif
