Don't be a creep.

@IreneMiau: Enjoy having that touched up every year or so, though. Foot and hand tattoos fade pretty quickly.

Sorry that was distasteful of me I apologise and yeah they do fade much quicker than tattoos on other parts of the body. Its because the skin cycle is shortened in these areas do to being prone to sweat and pressure being exerted on the hands and feet a lot. That being said it also varies from individual to individual, I have a friend with a hand tattoo that was done a few years ago and it has never been touched up and has only faded slightly.

My eyes keep glancing over this topic and it makes me itch for a tattoo again.

I only have the one and it's just text, so I'd really like to get an image. Something I've always been drawn towards is a raven, but I'm still searching for the right kind of art style to be sure.

@TEoS...is that really your own?

I have a few questions. Apologies for the caps, the Marines Tattoo Policy is in all upper case.

According to the Marine Tattoo Policy.
"Sleeve tattoos as defined in paragraphs 5A are prohibited."

According to Paragraph 5A a sleeve tattoo is:

TATTOO(S) THAT IS VERY LARGE OR A COLLECTION OF SMALLER TATTOOS THAT COVERS, OR ALMOST COVERS, A PERSON'S ENTIRE ARM OR LEG.  A HALF/QUARTER SLEEVE TATTOO IS DEFINED AS A VERY LARGE TATTOO OR A COLLECTION OF SMALLER TATTOOS THAT COVERS, OR ALMOST COVERS, THE ENTIRE PORTION OF AN ARM OR LEG ABOVE OR BELOW THE ELBOW OR KNEE.

Yours is most definitely a sleeve tattoo which is prohibited. So that's very strange that they'd allow it as it's quite obvious and very large. Not to mention its easily visibly in standard PT kit.

I'm in the military not the Marines although I know a few and they're very strict on the appearance of Marines. and We are allowed sleeve tattoos as long as it's not visible when wearing uniform and it stops before the wrist, even then it's frowned upon

Secondly, why did you get a Marine Tattoo before even starting boot camp?

I've seen numerous recruits who already have military tattoos on their body within the first week of training. Not only will you look like a tool, you will be targeted by the instructors. Not to mention it's really common for recruits to drop out and discharge during training. Then they go home with military tattoos and haven't even finished basic training. It's just really stupid. One guy got sent home because he couldn't fire his rifle accurately enough to pass his test, he was devastated not mention he had a military sleeve done and last I've seen he's now a civilian supermarket employee.

I didn't get a military related tattoo until after my first deployment, at least if people ask I can say I'm a fully fledged and experienced member.
