Cheers,

It will run, but you won't get very good FPS with it.

We can't tell you how well it will run as you have to experiment with the settings yourself and decide on what settings are best.

But it should be able to run IV on low-medium settings. Remember though, this is an assumption only wink.gif .

Low, at best.
I'm sure you can get a better card for it's price, but I would go up to at least a 3850, which is about $60-70... I think?
What's your price range?
If you want to play GTA4 only than go for something high spec.

the thing is, it's a laptop, not primarly for gaming.

I'm happy with low smile.gif

Yeah, but it might not give you an acceptable framerate.
Is it your current laptop or are you buying one?
Playing on low is perfectly acceptable for me as well.

It's my current on, got it for my birthday, so I'm damn happy that my parents were kind enough to buy me a decent one at all. If GTA IV doesn't work on it, f*ck it! I'm still happy smile.gif

CanYouRunIt.com says I'll be able to run it. Just have to wait and see just HOW much it'll lag on Low...

Yeah, if it was made properly you would probably be able to play it nicely on low, but it seems a bit sketchy at the moment.
Post benchmarks, it'll be an interesting experiment, because a lot of the hardware I hear from is newer hardware.
I would post benchmarks with my 6800 128 MB, but it crashes when I try.

GTA IV only uses 38% of my hd3850 and it laughs at all other games. It's worth a try with your card since the 3850 is cheap as hell now (agp version is more expensive, though, so hopefully you have a PCIe slot like I don't blush.gif ) and you can just upgrade to that soon if you get trapped with a non-working GTA IV.

The verdict is here. I bought the game, it runs pretty smooth on everything low. I'm happy.

No benchmark, but here you have 2 screens of how it looks. Everything on low>playable most of the time.
