Hello, I just bought my new PC today but I haven't install Windows yet since I'm thinking whether to use XP or Vista.. I'm also wondering if this specs can play GTA 4.

AMD Athlon 64 6000+ X2 Dual Core AM2
512MB nVidia GeForce 8600GT
2GB DDR2 800MHz
Hard Drive, 160GB
22x Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive

Can I play it with Medium settings?
What should I use XP or Vista?

Have you thought about having Dual OS? If you play older games they may not run in Vista. For instance Vista won't play the Scarface game

I'm stuck with Vista because my Xps 420 came with it, had a few bugs sorted out and haven't had that many issues with vista anymore. So if you don't play older games, you won't have one of the biggest issues i have had. So i would say Vista. XP is not much of a resource hog as Vista but it's coming along nice and has some nicer features than XP.

Add 1gb more memory and go Vista (x64 if you can)
XP works ok too and is ok, but I totally recommend going dual-boot with xp and vista. (both OS's have their advantages and disadvantages)

And I'm pretty sure you can run the game on medium, but it's totally up to you if you're willing to play it as a slideshow...

He means the game might run but the fps MIGHT be low, making the game look choppy

Sorry to get off topic. So is XP or Vista better for GTA 4?
