I just send this email to Rockstar, I hope an answer :
"""Many players have a problem with graphic flickering and Z-fighting textures :
After having tried everything :
Full Uninstall Drivers (with DriverSweeper or DriverCleaner) and re-install (with or without CCC) : No Change .
Re-install or update DirectX : No change .
Change Resolution or Quality setting (to Low) : No change .
Verify or change the MipMap Detail Level to full Quality : No change .
Disable all background Applications/software : No change .
Re-install the Game + Patch : No change .
Clear Cache and Delete temporary files : No change .
Increase RAM : No change .
If you can fix the problem or find a solution that would be cool, because the game is really ugly and almost unplayable Thanks in advance """

Hmm, perhaps if we all promise to buy the game again, R* might just fix the problem promptly.
It's not as if it was one system or type of hardware that this showed up on. What the freaking hell where the testers doing?

I sure hope that people looking to purchase gta4 take a look in this troubleshooting section (so many problems, most with no answers).
If I hadn't been such a fan boy and bought it on release day, I'd be a much less stressed gamer. GTA4 has taught me something useful, from this day forth, for all big game releases, I shall add one week onto the release date, and spend that time checking forums in future. Gotta try and get something positive out of this whole shamozzle.

| Exactly the thing!|
So far only HD26xx, HD36xx issue... either everyone else has their hands full with other crap, or the problem is native only to this series of Video Cards.
Happens on my HD 3850 when I try to use omega or cat 8.6
Not with cat 8.12
Why am I using older drivers? Because stupid PC keeps freezing. Makes no sense.

I have the same problem of flickering shadows, the "P" button "blur effect" helps it a bit when moving. I'm using a 8800gt w/ 180.84
