Heres the source that I got this info from.

http://www.eurogamer...ticle_id=323971

Article:

"Players are reporting that Grand Theft Auto IV on PC has some major reliability problems - but Rockstar is on the way to the rescue.

"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible," a Rockstar spokesperson told GTAGaming.

"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual.

"There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website where there are many useful FAQs, and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered," added the statement.

The problems appear to revolve around lengthy validation and astronomic graphics settings that not even the best PCs can utilise. One Steam forum member summed the problems up eloquently.

As Kotaku points out, the Steam forums are not the only ones awash with floundering fans: GTAForums and the GTAGaming boards both exhibit large mobs of disgruntled purchasers.

This is a shame, because Grand Theft Auto IV remains a classic game, although the PC conversion - as Kieron Gillen highlights in his review - has a few too many technical hiccups."

This is a releaf.. It feels good that they atleast say that they know what the problem is and that they are working on things.

"small number of fans" <-- thats just so people who dont know alot about these problems, wont think that they´ve screwed up.. which they kinda have.

Im happy! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

I'm sure that is quite the understatement.

I'm so pissed. I got this game to work smoothly, without lagging on a single core. Repeat - single core. I've seen only 3 cutscenes, I want to see what's going to happen next, but I have that damn texture bug! What's the point of playing, if you can't see where you're driving?
I really hope that the patch is coming out this week.

As was stated in another thread, that little post says NOTHING about a patch, it says they are aware of the issues and are working on them. This could mean many things although we all HOPE its a patch.

However the one sentence that worries me is the comment on "settings that not even the best computers can run"... Myself and many others now have tweaked the game to run quite well, mines running on all max except view distance @ 60 and averaging 40 FPS. I'm loving it. So my worry with that sentence is that they have intentions of lowering the maximum graphic settings to medium or something of the sort rather than fixing the very lazy and poorly optimized port.

My 2 cents.
