If you have XP go to Start > My Computer > Right-click "D" (your disk drive) Properties > AutoPlay (tab) > Click, Select action to preform > Open folder to view files.

I had a problem with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars not being read in my drive did the above and it worked. Hope this helps.Good luck.

That has something to do with not installed Service Pack 3 for XP. Try to install it and then retry the install.

In that case - sorry.
It's obviously a dusty CD - just clean it.
Also - it might be stuff with the copy protection....

I tried that once and got arrested oddly enough tounge.gif .

It is possible you just got a dud disc the manufacturing process isn't perfect (although it is a damn sight better than Rockstars programming ability). So you might want to consider taking the game back and swapping it for another copy.

Oh and don't be put off by retard assistants going "we can't exchange PC games" it is your right as a consumer to have a working product after all you paid for it.

I can't help you with the USB port thing, I won't touch USB drives with a barge pole. You could try restarting the PC with the USB drive in and see if that detects it.

Hello,
1. Try to clean the CD. Make sure there are no marks, scratches or blemishes on the CD itself, as this can impede data transfer.
2. Perform a thorough Scandisk. To do this go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/ScanDisk. Click the drive you want to check. Then, under Type of test, click Thorough. This will check your disk surface, files, and folders for any errors
3. Defrag the Hard Drive. To do this go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter. This will rearrange files and unused space on your hard disk so that programs run faster.
4. Delete all temporary files from your system.
Hold down the windows key and press the 'R' key, then type 'Temp' in the Run box that appears and click OK.
Please delete all files in this folder.
Hold down the windows key and press the 'R' key, then type '%Temp%' in the Run box that appears and click OK.
Please delete all files in this folder.
You may need to turn on the ability to view hidden files and folders to do this. To do so, double click My Computer, then click Tools and Options. Then click View and select the option to view all hidden files.
5. Close down all background tasks.
Hold down the windows key and press the 'R' key, then type MSCONFIG and click OK. From there click on the tab marked startup.
For Windows XP users click the button marked as Disable All, then click Apply and Close.
For Non Windows XP users, please remove the ticks from all of the boxes apart from the below four and then click Apply and close.
LoadPowerProfile
ScanRegistry
SystemTray
TaskMonitor
6. Copy the discs contents to the PC. To do this:-
- Go to the Desktop and right click on the clear space and select New > Folder
- Name this folder (it doesn't matter what you name it)
- Open the folder
- Double Click My Computer, open the disc you would like to install
- Copy the contents of the disc in to the New Folder (Press Ctrl + A in the Disc drive window, then Press Ctrl + C, then click on to the new folder then Press Ctrl +V)
- If you have a second disc, Repeat the process for the 2nd disc so that both discs are in the same folder.
- Once all the files are copied over, locate the file labeled setup.exe (this will have a icon with a blue square with 2 White triangles) and double click it.
The game will now install in the regular manner.
