I'm working on TC for SA for almost 2 years, and now all my progress is on hold because of handling adder by Alexander...

Here's my problem - when I use handling adder, new cars don't spawn at all, or have this weird error (see below)
user posted image user posted image user posted image user posted image user posted image
My questions are simple: how to fix those problems, and how to CONVERT standard handling line into new, "handling adder line" format?
I've already contacted Alexander about this, but to tell you the truth he wasn't very helpful. He did however mentioned something about dumping handling data from memory (???)

This is original SA handling

As far as i know, he stop working on his Handling adder because was very buggy and also difficult to fix, the current one around doesn't work.

Hate to say this, but you're wrong. I've already mentioned in 1st post that "original handling adder" handling works. And so all other handlings like this:

In your version, you're using decimal points (.) but Alexander has used commas (,)

Also remove the spaces after the equals (=) in case whitespace identifies a new line.

Try:

CODE
[MAIN]
Count=1

[CAR_IDs]
18631

[18631]
index=11
fmass=2090,0
fTurnMass=5894,0
fDragMult=0,39
x=0,0
y=0,25
z=-0,046
nPercentSubmerged=85
fTractionMultiplier=0,671
fTractionLoss=0,62
fTractionBias=0,54
nNumberOfGears=5
fMaxVelocity=176,5
fEngineAcceleration=8,0
fEngineInertia=20,9
nDriveType=4
nEngineType=P
fBrakeDeceleration=4,0

if you dont mind dude you miswrote, he is using (,) instead of (.)
for example : fCollisionDamageMultiplier=0,48

it should be
fCollisionDamageMultiplier=0.48

too much difference: 0,48 = 48 while the original value is 0.48

It works. I should have noticed that before suicidal.gif
HOWEVER, I'm now stuck with another problem. New handling have abnormal speed acceleration (0-300mph in just 3/4 sec.) and very unrealistic grip on surface (like ice). Also, in some cases - car turns rear wheels instead front (when turning left or right)

I don't suppose you can help me fix those problems as well?

Alexander's Handling Adder appears to be converting the values entered using a multiplier of his own creation.

His velocity is 0.874667704105377, but the default velocities in the handling.cfg are not in this format. I have no idea why he has changed it.. wouldn't it be easier to just edit the handling.cfg in a text editor?

One way you can find out is with some simple math - find the default velocity for the car in handling.cfg, then divide it by Alexander's value, then multiply that by your new value. So if the default is 160, and your new velocity is 176..

(0.874667704105377 / 160) * 176

= 0.962134475

Sorry. When it comes to math, I'm an idiot... wink.gif

I can only hope that someday, someone will create decent handling adder for SA (or converter tool to automatically convert standard handlings into new format). Until then, I'll just have to use standard handlings instead...

True, but let's be honest. Unlike other excellent mods from Alexander, this one is useless. Not only you have to convert handling format, but values as well. Can you even imagine how long it would take to convert 190 new handling lines?

The only (working) solution would be to create converter tool. That way you could import original and export new handling with calculated values...

What exactly is the use of the tool? I couldn't find any info on Alexander's website. Does it hook additional handling lines into the game as it runs, or does it just edit hadling.cfg for you? notify.gif If the latter, try Cerbera's CFG Studio.

STM, this tool (handling adder) is for adding NEW handlings. It hooks the handling from HandlingAdder.ini file. That's why it has to be in this "special" ( sarcasm.gif ) format. Anyway, I'll try to contact Alexander (again) and ask him about converter tool. It's my only option left.

BTW, I already know about CFG studio wink.gif One of the best GTA tools I've ever seen...
