Attach the vortex to the magnet and lift it a bit off the ground, get in and fly.

It will of course work with any magnetic vehicle, but the Vortex is the only vehicle that can propel itself through the air.
Aircraft aren't magnetic and neither are boats, - with one exception notify.gif

Bikes (except Quads) are magnetic but only without a rider, mounting a bike attached to a magnet will instantly detach it.
Bicycles aren't magnetic.

The Quarry and export crane are the only cranes with working magnets, - the magnet on the crane in LV doesn't work.
Another option is the Up, Up and Away Leviathan:

Apart from Securicar's the Leviathan can lift vehicles weighing 1500 kg. max (lifting a 1500 kg. vehicle will require some patience)

Although it's only available during a mission (w/o mods etc.), there's no time limit or movement restrictions during the mission.
And since it's a mission objective it won't disappear if left somewhere.

Unfortunately you can't do exports during the mission:

You can however use it to rearrange garage content:

The rope hasn't got collision, so it passes effortlessly through objects.

But until global warming sets in in earnest the usefulness is pretty limited tounge2.gif

Two magnets doesn't attract, but you can attach the same vehicle to different magnets

You can't lift or tow the Leviathan by it's magnet

Strange things may happen if you're fooling around in an attached vehicle and everything suddenly come tumbling down

The Leviathan magnet can be released at anytime by pressing the fire button, CJ doesn't have to be in the helicopter.

Notes on boats: The boats are "anchored" when their engines are off, they'll fiercely resist horizontal movement but can still be lifted up or down.
To release the "anchor" get in and turn the engine on.
The Leviathan floats, so it can be landed on the water.

And finally:
Always remember to carry a "rubber" when you're out having fun wink.gif

Here's a small cleo script that puts the magnet on the Leviathan unlocked by "Up, Up and Away" after the mission is completed:

It was used for some of the above screenshots

A cheatdevice can probably do the same for PS2 users

And sorry about hitting the wrong button before finishing the post blush.gif

A endless source of retarded fun colgate.gif
Just one thing though. Is it just me or when I steal that chopper in Up, Up and Away, the cars I want to lift are very heavy, like 10 times more then the truck you need to steal. It takes ages to get altitude

Nah, it's the same for me and others too. I don't know of any vehicle other than the armored van that it is programmed to lift to be any lighter.

Great work Phreak, must've taken a long time to find all that out.

I never knew the Leviathan could be landed on water.

Haha, that is an Epic find. I'll have to start up my SA that isn't crashing becasue i've been modding stuff to go and test it out.

Not only can you deactivate the magnet from outside Leviathan (by hitting fire), but you can also control the winch remotely.

user posted image user posted image user posted image

You can use that to get some insane insane bonuses:

user posted image

Get in the vehicle and lift it up, - spin around as much as you like and when you had enough lower it back on the ground to get the bonus.

If the vehicle hangs upside down it will quickly get damaged like on the ground, but you can still score quite a lot of flips

user posted image

Use "Fire" for emergency release wink.gif

Somehow you can also get driving skill from just hanging around:

user posted image

You can even control it from a completely different vehicle, - with SAAC it's even possible on foot.

The Barracks isn't good for carrying loads though (dodgy collision).

Update: The DFT works a lot better

user posted image

Although it's a bit tricky to get the magnet to let go of everything lol.gif

The BF sticks surprisingly well on the back. The Tank was too big though.

BUMP

Very nice. I was just starting to experiment with it, and you explored all the possibilities already. But I think you has overlooked one thing:

Unfortunately you can't do exports during the mission:

As a matter of fact, you can fly the Skycrane outside the mission. You just cannot save it as the hangar eats magnets. Not completely sure about exports, I competed all the lists already.
You need to dip the Leviathan in the water. As this heli floats, you need to hit the water upside down:

Be carefull, do not let it stay on it's back for too long or you lose it forever:
user posted image user posted image user posted image

You cannot undrown Leviathan, it floats just under the surface:
user posted image

But, if you are quick, you can turn your heli back and take off, to use it outside of the mission:

Interesting!
Does it need to be undrowned or can it self-right as the Skimmer?

Neat trick.
Not by itself, no. You must "help" it. Use the directional keys, just like you sometimes can rescue the car, that has fallen on it's roof. You must be quick though, if Leviatan sinks too deep you cannot overturn it anymore.
As you can see on my last screenshot, the "Mission Failed" is just dissipating.

LOL, I just played with this save.
If one do have some trouble with landing a Leviathan on it's roof, one can just destroy the Security Van. Either blow it up or dump it into the water. The mission fails and you can use the magnet still. Untill you try to put it into the hangar, that is.
