I started playing today and I decided to take the beautiful comet that Brucie gave me. While driving I was looking for the plates (license plates) and, HOHO!!! surprise surprise!!! there are no plates!!!. I just noticed and I know this is, maybe, old.

All cars I've seen with plates, the plates all say "Liberty City". Maybe it's a small detail that they earnestly forgot about?

i dont think they forgot, i think they had more important things to do than make alot of different plates. they probably think we wouldnt care if they all have the same plate. and honestly, i dont mind all cars having the same plate. smile.gif

Honestly, I didn't noticed that some cars had no plates at all until reading this thread. You can't really give them crap for not including plates, it's so insignificant.

It wouldn't have been that hard to randomly generate numbers and letters, but they're only license plates.

Knew about this once I started the first mission on April 29. I wanted to see the liscence plate on Roman's car and there was none.

It was something hinting to the fact that HE WAS A FAT TRAITOR.

The thing with the licence plates is, even though it would be nice for real random numbers, you ( well I ) don't even look at the plate, my eyes are averted to the wonder that is the city and sights.
It's rare that I look at the Liberty City plate.

So IMO real numbers aren't really needed.

Couldn't care less about plates. But with the direction (realism)
R* is going, I bet the next GTA has individual plates.

Maybe the will even let you personalize them
(Huh R*? What about that idea.)

Mine would say "ISHOOTU"

I don't think Rockstar would bother adding proper license plates unless they could be tied into the gameplay somehow. If they're just randomly generated letters and numbers with no real purpose, it's just a gimmick, and doesn't really add anything to the game.

It can add fun and humour to the game, remember certain cars in SA, they had some genius plates.

It might not add to the STORY but it would add to the game.

I wonder how many people here actually know that San Andreas had randomly generated numbers/letters for the license plates....also, there were plates for san fierro, los santos, and las venturas, like NY has plates for Queens or Brooklyn.

"lOLZ DLC NEXT GEN REALISM"

they did it in 2004 but they couldn't do it in 2008, lol.

Yeah, they did it in 2004 but not in 2008. Pretty stupid really. But then again, maybe we're stupid for bitching about it?

Yeah, there were certain cars with funny plates on too.

Cant remember what they said though, I remember one was the nurse girlfriends car at the top of san fierro.

There are license plates, its just that they all read LIBERTY CITY. This kinda annoyed me. In SA, all of the license plates had random plates on them. Right? Or at least important characters should have them. I remember in SA, Sweet had GROVE4L and Big Smoke had 2TMFK. Cesar had one too, but I can't really remember what it was. Something to do with the VLA.

lol probibly because they use it for street racing so they cant catch them. no number plate means all the cops have to go on is a gold comet....if it was real life anyways.

Couldn't do it? More like DIDN'T do it. Come on.

I don't care if there are plates or not, is it REALLY detracting from the game in any way? I think it's strange that they left out that little detail but how is it hurting anything? Maybe they were focused on everything else and honestly forgot about it?

I would be sort of cool, though, having to track a target down by running his license plate number in the LCPD database and finding out where he lived.
