ps3 on a laptop

I wuld like to use my dell inspiron 1525 as a moniter fro my ps3. I have no idea how to though and would appreciate advice. PLEASE!

The chances are you can't, most laptops only support video out (meaning you can connect them to other screens), and not video in, which would let you use it as a display for a separate device.

is it possible to connect my desktop monitor to my ps3 and use that though?

Yes, it's possible. You need a HDMI to VGA/DVI adaptor. And for sound use the green and blue cables (not sure) or an optical cable (not sure if it's called like that).
