Vote + discuss.

Blast from the past: predicting IV's location.

[EDIT] If you want to start a serious, well-thought-out topic discussing, say, the pros and cons of a particular location, that's fine. Just keep all general chit-chat and such in here.

I paid good money to have them set it in Monkey City, and it's not even an option?

Sloppy.

San Andreas , GTA is based on American Culture so no London, no offence... So they made a remake of Liberty City 3 times now and San Andreas only once, VC twice... It's San Andreas' time to shine now!

I voted for Vice City, because the GTA III canon has gone 'Liberty City - Vice City - San Andreas,' and so far the GTA IV canon has been 'Liberty City'.

See my logic?

I think it would be interesting to have next GTA in Carcer City, so I voted for Detroit.

All of the above and then some. (Philly? Seattle? Houston?) Fly between cities on airports, no need to waste space trying to fill in dead zones in between. Several cities, several characters, several storylines. Make it something you'd have to "play through" a dozen times or so before truly having seen everything. If Rockstar did stuff like this they'd buy themselves more time in between releases. Some people get bored quickly after having finished a single, often rather short storyline.

I voted for Vice City

I think it would be nice to go and make a return to Vice City. Perhaps the main character could be in the same sort of starting situation as Niko (Forgiving my spelling if it's wrong. I don't read much about IV). It would also be nice to see Vcie City completly redone, with some more islands or a bigger map.

At least one return to San Andreas is needed. The rest, Vice over Liberty, then any city is fine, even a completely made-up one.

One question to everyone voting for Vice City - should the whole 1980s thing be kept or do we go with a different period? (Vice City '08 - Foreclosure Edition?)

I vote Europe[U], R* said they didnt make GTAIII a strong comparison to NYC compared to which GTAIV acheived, so i believe that has been accomplished and there is no need to keep with the old cities. However, the fact that GTASA hasnt been replicated like LC and VC stories suggests there could be a return to ol' SA, but that would be pointless seeing it was only created a few years ago.

I feel there is a need to change continent as the USA has been sucked dry, i don't know what they call the crime Grand Theft Auto in Europe but it seems GTAIV's characters point to a more European style series.

Yeah good point. I'd say it should be more of a modern period. Like GTA IV.

London... HAS 2 BE!!!!!!!!! Imagine (who ever the main character is) Pushing people off the London Eye or Causing Mayhem on the Tower Bridge!!
Then going for Fish n' Chips after getting away from the Cockney Police..
It would be great, R* did a great job on LC and i think if they did London it would be extremely good

I also may add that VC would be great on Next - Gen but San Andreas was huge!!! Loved the Casinos always gambling in them.

I voted Vice City, it seems like the most popular choice so far. Rockstar could extend it and make it much more dense and detailed. I feel that how ever nice a current-gen San Andreas would be, it's "too big." By that, I don't mean it wouldn't fit onto a DVD9; I mean if it's as detailed and "big" as anyone would hope, then it could cause problems - especially for a stable framerate.

London could be good. It's definitely got the crime factor any GTA game should have realistically, but I wouldn't have it as a top choice (even though I'm from the U.K. myself).

Rockstar could take advantage of the fact that The Getaway development has been stopped. Nonetheless, London is boring, dreary and dull, keep with the beaches of USA.

I'm 100% sure that Vice City wont be the next GTA.I voted London because R* are related with it.A modern Vice City would be boring because there is nothing interesting there nowadays, an '80's Vice would be again boring because thy've already made two in that era.So Vice City will\would be worse than GTA IV(well IV is not bad for me, but there were so much complains about it).

Vice City, considering the sequence in the GTA III Trilogy. A return to Vice City would be good, set in the present time.

Somewhere in Europe. It's a possibility that R* will set the game in the U.S again, but I doubt it. It's getting boring IMO. I want something new when I play GTA, and R* keeping on using the same locations over and over will just get boring over time.

Liberty City recreated in IV was ok, but that's because the old city was utter bollocks. Vice City on the other hand, was awesome. It had the cars, the songs, the atmosphere, it had everything, R* will never be able to recreate that. Besides, if they set it later than the 1980's, it won't have the same touch to it.

Los Santos real counterpart, Los Angeles is getting recreated in "L.A. Noire" which is also a R* game, so I don't think they will use SA again.

I don't think that "GTA: NeXt" will be set in London though, because "The Getaway" games are covering that city pretty damn good. So either Paris or Athene or some other big european city would be a good choice, because it's never been done before (at least to my knowledge), and it will probably boost up the sales of the game too, because they differ from the other GTA games.

The most likely location is somewhere in the former colonies of Britain, but not Britain itself. Think of London, the culture of driving around London is horrible. Imagine having to cruise through narrow streets when escape cops, other bandits and whatnot. Sounds fun, maybe, but after it while, it just gets annoying.

But... I could see GTA going to Canada. Oh yeah, damn Canucks.

There's a remote chance that R* might take up a portion of San Andreas and develop it to the present year. I would like to see how SA feels post-2008. Perhaps, something similar to what they did to LC in IV or even better.

I'd like them to have 2 games in this one's canon.

GTA IV, with a DLC expansion pack including Vice City.
Then another San Andreas, with an expansion pack for Hawaii.

I would LOVE that.

GTA is international, the last protagonist proves it. I'd love Eastern Europe, but London is awesome and chances are 50-50 that it's London or VC. Why Vice City? GTA 3 was followed by Vice City, LCS was followed by VCS. LC has always been followed by VC.
