I was meaning the giant clear plexiglass on the side there.
I've never seen a late model have one of those.
All the ones I've seen roll with just a back spoiler, no side wing.
Like so:

Just strange to me is all.
Maybe larger ovals?

It's not a late model, it's an open wheel modified. But yeah, I've never seen one on one there that giant monstrosity on it. I wonder if it's even attached. I can't think it actually races with it on there.

Never see one with anything more than this.

Late model without fenders. tounge.gif

I'm going to look into and see if it has a purpose.
Could be some tracks that require it.
Dunno, BUT I MUST FIND OUT!

Continuing the discussion of the Dictator-driven limos like the Hongqi HQE from the "5 cars in your garage" thread, I've gotta say I've always got a kick out of the big Russian ZiL's.

It's hilarious how little they changed. The first two are late 60's and the rest are all early 70's-2010. They barely changed at all in 40 years. All massive (6.9-7.7 liter) carbed V8's, have archaic 3 speed autos, and they weigh over 3 tons. It's like a pre-downsized Cadillac or Lincoln made in the 21st century. Still carbed, still massive, still slab-sided, etc. Awesome.

I think it would be cool to do the whole hot rod limo/hearse thing with one like you see people doing with old Cadillacs.

Massive blower sticking through the hood with dual quads and a big scoop and some side pipes on some massive, armor-plated, Russian limo.

I remember when I was like 7 or 8 and my uncle had an Esprit, was the fast real sports car I'd been in and it struck me how low to the ground you're sitting. I still remember it to this day.

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "If it's not broken, fix it until it is."

@Lurch: Thanks for reminding me how much I want an Esprit. cryani.gif

Education does not equal intelligence my friend, same thing I tell the highly-paid professors/chemists/bio-engineers/etc. that I work for.

If an educated person says something stupid, it's no less stupid than if your average Joe said it. wink.gif
(not that what you said was "stupid", but it really made no sense)

You can't get a degree in common-sense after all.

The question posed to me was ludicrous, and as such I gave a ludicrous answer. turn.gif

What question?

I referred to the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

To which you replied: "If you don't fix it, it will break."

One of those phrases doesn't make sense, and it's not mine.

Ignoring the Mangusta in the first 2 pics and focusing on the Paneteras, it's still the same basic car for 20 years. Seriously modernized the look by the time the SI came out, but looking at the back, you can still see the same basic body lines of the original.
