I'm re-running the PC versions of GTA, not sure yet, but I did find a big performance dip between Vice and GTA 3, however, I started with Vice and for the older platform I'm on, yeah, Dell Dim 4550, with 2GB of Ram, I still expected it to run smooth
nVidia Geforce4 MX420, 64MB ram, you're required to have 128MB for San An, but there's reported shared system ram of 128 in addition, considering it's nVidia, I expected no lags.

Resolution was set higher then my normal desktop, 32bit color, and draw distance was set a few notches below halfway full. It has a certain effect on the game, I'm not sure it looks horrible with the draw distance completely down to Min

About time. tounge.gif Brilliant time killer that game was, im hoping to play through it again within the next two weeks when I have spare time. Admittedly, the most boring section of the game was the city and prison (the last two places), but only because it was so much slower paced and difficult in comparison to early in the game. And its really gloomy. The most fun area in my opinion was the sunny resort at the start because it looks gorgeous and zombies are piss easy to kill. tounge2.gif

Still gotta finish Alan Wake first tho.. jesus it just drags on, I wish the gameplay wasn't so repetitive in it because I love the cutscenes & general portrayal of the story. Only about 5 hours in too, damn.

Another query, perhaps suited to GTA PC performance, but since Windows/MS driver for Xbox doesn't quite mate well to GTA gaming, can anyone recommend tips to get total XBOX360 controller button mapping for the PC versions, all of them? Is there anything allowing it? I'm just disappointed I have buttons I can't map

If I'm reading you right, you want to use your XBox Controller with GTA, the PC versions.

If your playing GTA:IV then the XBox controller is natively supported so will give you a fully mapped Joypad. If your playing the III era games (III/Vice City/San Andreas) then I would suggest getting rid of the XBox controller and getting a PlayStation2 to USB converter and using the PlayStation2 controller, although the "Digital" direction pad doesn't full map (at least not on my converter), these buttons would only be of real use in San Andreas, but they are only for recruiting gang members and changing radio stations so it's not like your losing much, in III and Vice it is the same as the Left Analog Mushroom so it just for directions like walking and driving.

I feel dirty for recommending Console tat, but it sure beats trying to play GTA with Keyboard and Mouse.

Hey guys I'm in a MMORPG mood at the moment (can't wait for GW2) so what's a good one? Which isn't WoW, LOTRO or RIFT. I would prefer no online subscriptions.

If you like Star Wars, I'd definitely recommend The Old Republic. There's a monthly fee though.

Not only that but I hear that Ubisoft will be putting some of their games on GoG. DRM free of course. Ubisoft of all people! Isn't this some kind of a sign? An ill omen perhaps? The end is nigh.

In amazon.com, in spring sale today (don't know the duration) you can buy IV for 5$ with lots of other games, like L.A. Noire around same price. The price is available only in direct download versions. That is about 3?

Happy camping, guys!

Yeah, it's what I've been doing, using the Xbox360 accessories MS driver with XP and the older GTA III, Vice, San An, they just run better on a wider array of machines, I lost my PS2 in a move, it seems, can't find those items, but I had a PS2 to PC driver and hardware dongle from Radio Shack, but of course, with Xbox360 so handy, it would be great if some in the modding community found a way to address it's shortcomings

Anyone good with merging Stalker mods? I'd love to have PLR's Realistic Weapons with AMK but I have absolutely no idea where to even begin. The severe lack of guides on modding isn't helping either.

Was a bit worried with them 'only' having until late next year, as I'm dearly wanting this to be such a rich masterpiece. But with the work now spread to Obsidian, whom have those people who'll surely be very invested and dedicated to making it shine, I'm sure they'll have enough time Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

Wonder if it'll hit $3m.. monocle.gif
