XP 1900+
512MB DDR
ECS K7S5A Mobo
GeForce Ti 4600 128MB
Soundblaster 4.1 Digital

Game runs fine in 1024 by 768 32 Bit, leave frame limiter and all the other options on and turn draw distance down to halfway when I hit the 2nd island, keeps it running fluent most of the time!
Before I had an MX 400 and boy did it suck bigtime, even now theres LOTS of room for improvement.

384 MB RAM
GF2MX 32MB
7200RPM HDD 30GB
Windows 2000 Modified to run with no shell

Runs ok at 800x600 16 bpp, with draw distance halfway down. I get slowdowns in the rainbut not too bad.

holy shyaaat!! how much did you spend on ur pc? sweet lil' system you got there...

my stats:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
256mb DDR PC2100
nVidia Geforce 2 MX 440 64Mb
60gig hdd
soundblaster 5.1 live!

game runs alrite at 1024*768 with everything maxed and tweaked (about 20-25fps). ive eliminated lags but when i just hit staunton from the bridge, the textures take about (4-5 secs) to appear. other than that, the games okay

i thot of getting a geforce 4ti 4600 but i think ill wait out and get a new motherboard that supports agp 8x when it comes out

Pentium 4 1.6GHz
TNT2 M64 32MB
512 MB of RAM
42XCD
IntelliOptical mouse
Inspire 5300
Sound Blaster Live!

The game runs about 30-80fps on 1024x768 32bit resolution. Before I got the sheepy patch, it was 15-50fps. I am using fraps to record my fps. The game runs fine except when I am at Staunton Island. I get about 20-40fps. Mostly on 25fps when I look up.

AMD Thunderbird 1.4, 256mb DDR, GeForce 3,
7,200rpm ATA-133 60GB hard drive

I find the game runs good and smooth with frame sync, and frame limiter turned on, and 800x600x32 with a lower draw distance

AMD Duron 850Mhz
256MB Ram
Geforce 2 Ti 64 DDR RAM
10 gig HD

After first loading a save game it will be choppy driving around for a couple of minutes and will become really smooth, however changing to another island becomes choppy for the first couple of minutes in that island. Overall, it runs fairly well in 640x480 all details down.

:( my specs:
intel celeron 769mHz pentium III
30gb hard drive
64mb ram(expands to 512)
intel 82810E grafix chipset,32mb video ram
windows ME
48x dvd\cdrw combo drive.

gta3 doesn't give me the performance of other high-res games to date,my usual fps is 4-15.My grafix card gives me exeptional performance on other games such as max payne and nba live 2002,which have very realistic grafix!!Far better than gta3.I am using 3d-analyse and the gta3 advanced options, along with sheepys mod.Still nothing drastic!
For those of you experiencing similar problems, try to edit direct-x refresh rate to a value like 70-120,also you can change your monitors refresh rate to optimal(before you do this make shure your moniter supports that mode)go to deaktop properties, settings, advanced to see.Now after this my gta3 runs at an increase of 4-9 fps and this is even at high resolutions and maximum draw distance!!BUT ithere is always room for improvement!

pc's that almost respond to minimum requirements
seems to run smoother than pc's between minimum and
recommended specs.(p3450-500mhz,128-256mb sdram,16-32mb video memory)

check the pic for me specs:

The game runs very nicely 95% of the time, with everything on max, res at 1024*768*32bit. (Nearly always at 30fps, using FRAPS. Turning off frame rate limiter hits 60-65, but when it goes to a new area there is a noticable slowdown for a fraction of a second, which makes the game weird) Occasional twitch when something new is loading. At 1152*864*32bit there is more twitching but it is still very playable.

PIII 500mhz  100mhzbus
2x agp Matrox G450 dualhead 32MBDDR (latest drivers)
512mb running at 100mhz
SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold (no hardware support for dx)

game runs fine althought a little slow in 640x480x16 with alll the options off, using the gta advanced options program i bring the draw distance down an extra time, and it runs perfect, unable to put trails on still,

Windows98 and XP are both unplayable, windows 2000 runs fine

XP playable if i disable soundcard in device manager, but who wants to play without sound :p

Note in 2000 i can run it at 800x600x16 fine

Using the latest matrox drivers did make the game a lot smoother

Here are the specs for both of my computers:

1st:
Intel Pentium 4 2.0A GHz
MSI 845E Max
512MB DDR266 DDR
MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 128MB DDR
Onboard integrated AC'97 Audio
Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB ATA-100 hard drive (7,200 rpm)
U.S. Robotics 56K modem
Windows 98 SE

GTA3 runs like a dream on this computer.  There's no lag... I don't know about the frame rates, but I won't care as long as it is smooth to the eye.  I run GTA3 at 800x600x16 on this computer.

2nd:
Intel Pentium II 233MHz
Asus P2L97
160MB PC100 SDRAM
ATI Xpert 2000 Pro (ATI Rage 128 Pro) 32MB SDRAM
SoundBlaster 16 Audio
Fujitsu 3.2GB hard drive
56K modem (some crappy brand)
Windows 98

Heh... GTA3 runs like a piece of junk on this computer... like 5-6 frames per second... I could play it on this computer for about 5 minutes, then it just crashes back to the desktop.  Oh well...   :nervous:

My specs:

256MB SDRAM
Celeron 850Mhz
Geforce 4 Ti4400 128DDR
Creative Vibra 128
20Gig

900mhz AMD thunderbird
Abit KT7-RAID
two 15.2Gb IBM 75GXP's
384mb pc133 SDram (upgraded from 128mb pc133)
Ati Radeon 8500le 128mb (upgraded from radeon 32mb sdr)
vortex2 sound (i dont like my sblive 5.1 digital)

after getting more memory and a better video  card, this game runs FAST and SMOOTH at 1024x768x32.  there is no slowdown in any area of the game.  the  hardrive never blinks either.  it is gta3 bliss!

Although you have a good video card, your Celeron (I call them Celery) is bogging you down... also how much RAM do you have?  If you have less than 256MB of RAM, things are going to slow down.

AMD Athlon 1Ghz
384MB SD133
K7S5A (or so)
40GB Samsung HD 7.200
GF2 MX400 64MB
SB Live 5.1
Win98SE
30.30 Detonator drivers
(no diff between 29.42 and 30.30)
640x480x16

GTA3 ran great while in Portland only, once I got to Staunton it was laggy everywhere, all the time.

Then i installed 3D Analyze and defragged the HD once again and now it's smooth as silk...   :)
