Did it live up to the hype? Do you think it is worthy of the perfect score it has been getting?

I don't believe it lives up to the hype, but it's still a good game.

I also don't believe it warrants a perfect score, because I believe in scoring progress over time, and frankly there are lot of elements that have not been improved.

Problem is, I am mainly a PC gamer, so I am used to much larger advancements that come along with better hardware.

I've found the level of detail astounding! Every ped seems different, individual, and the city itself is breath-taking! I was wandering the back alleys around Dukes just now and happened in on a chat between two girls aboot how they started smoking!

As for Niko and the missions/story, i have very rarely found myself caring so much aboot an in-game character and his friends before. This games is truly something special. Not only does it live up to the hype, it exceeds it.

Quoted ftw. Many people might feel the same way. It just takes some getting used to; from the graphics to the controls to the combat. It's all a new experience, which imo, having played it considerably, makes it better.

I thought there was something wrong, the night time was like ridiculously dark, to the point where all this so called detail was non existant, then I paused and sorted out the brightness and contrast levels. wink.gif

I'm loving it, awesome, so far I just passed the Jamaican Heat mission. smile.gif

I am still getting to grips with the controls though, everytime I get in a car I instinctively go to press x.

YES! i have said so many times that scoring a game as perfect is bad for so many reasons.... one being that you are saying the game is PERFECT and it obviously isn't... don't get me wrong, it's good, but seriously, not perfect

Four hours in it has exceeded my expectations, and I'm hard to please. Like the other guy said, sorting out the display and audio sucks every time a new GTA comes out. I'm currently overwhelmed by the audio. Radio, dialogue, soundeffects, GPS voice, ambient... Jesus!

Now that I've seen for myself, anyone who complains is officially a c**ksucker. The game is excellent. Driving is new, but brilliant, in my opinion.

And the peds! They're so strong! I beat the hell out of a guy, he fell to the ground, laid there awhile, started moving and got back up.

A lot of websites that gave the game 10/10 have said the score doesn't equal "perfect". It just means the game pushes boundaries and sets examples above any other in it's field. A game everyone should experience at least once. That sorta thing.

Honestly, at this point (just getting to the last Vlad missions): NO

At this point, I think it is just like all the rest. The graphics and city models are excellent, but I think the decision to have it take place in NYC was a mistake. It just does not feel fresh enough, different enough from GTA3 and from SR. I keep having deja vu back to GTA3 and SR.

Maybe when I get over to Algonquin and Alderney it will be newer.

I love the game but setting the game in a crowded city like Liberty takes away driving along open expanses of land and that's something I loved doing in San Andreas.
