Territory Glitch Cheat-Device Code: PS2

hi,
i made some PS2 cheat-devices ( GamsShark , CodeBreaker , Action Replay MAX...NTSC / PAL ) codes to activate all the territories in san andreas with 3 waves of attack ( PC USERS: see links at end of this post ) but just like the original territory glitch, the codes also glitch the game at some points, any of you who are familliar with the original glitch know what im talking about...mainly it can sometimes change cars/peds that spawns in the streets and messed up gangs stats.

the codes below will give a high density of 32 (50) to territories and 3 waves of attacks.

the original glitch was made on version 1 of the game by flying way-off the map for hours. it would give you at most 178 territories with a density of 01, its very weak and it will give you only one wave of attack...

also doing the original glitch takes hours...inputing the codes only take about 10 minutes.

NOTE : pictures and videos in this post were made during testing.

TERRITORY GLITCH CODES
thoses codes are meant to mod the gang territories all around SA .
this tutorial will be divided by steps to follow for proper way to activate those codes. they are meant to be activated and saved one by one ... however ever single step is optional , its up to you .

TESTED on NTSC v1, PAL v1, NTSC v2 and PAL v2

NTSC v1 and PAL v1 = original versions
NTSC v2 = special edition and greatests hits
PAL V2 = platinum edition

NOTE : the codes are savable ( unless noted otherwise )

here you are given 3 options ( A ,B ,C ) pick one.

note :
- like stated above , the codes glitch the gangs stats they may not be accurate ... but the codes do activate the said numbers of territories .
- thoses codes can be saved , once done theres no need to use them again.

- TERRITORIES = 380
this code will activate all 380 territories and split them between ballas/vagos ( however gangs stats may add-up to 378 ... i dont know why , gang stats glitch i assume ) but the code activate all 380 territories). and the gang-war will have 3 waves of attack.also colors for territories on the map will be strange cuz of the territories overlapping on each other.

STEP #3 :
- REZONED TO GANGLAND
the main problem with the territory glitch , is there are somes zone where gangs will never spawn. this code will change thoses to "GANGLAND" so they will be gang owned...however it will forever change the zone ped group,so expect to find gangs and prostitutes in airports,desert,industrial...etc
////////////////////

note :
- no need to use this code if you picked option C in step #1 " TERRITORIES = 245 ( city's ) " because it does not add gangs in thoses gang-less territories.
- this code can be saved , once done theres no need to use it again.

thoses codes are for restoring default density's in said territories ... its needed because the condenced codes from step #1 , #2 , #3 did overwrite some of thoses.

thoses codes will set proper gang-war and hood under attack in thoses gangs default territories , along with a map territory color mod.
////////////////////

note :
- use " restore rifa,da nang,triad,aztecas density's in default territories " code above once , its needed to reset density's in default territories.
no need to use again once saved.
- thoses codes are cannot be saved , they must be on to work !
- however , the gangs density changes can be saved.
-mafia was unused in default settings...see next codes.

walk in a rifa , da nang , triads or aztecas default territory and kill 3 ballas or vagos to trigger a gang-war ,
also kill remaining ballas / vagos in streets to get to 1st wave ... thats when THEY ( rifa, da nang , triad , aztecas ) will spawn , enjoy the war !

hood under attack :
once you won a rifa , da nang , triads or aztecas default territory , this territory may get attacked ... if it does it will be THEM ( rifa, da nang , triad , aztecas )

gang- war :
walk in a rifa , da nang , triads or aztecas default territory and kill 3 ballas or vagos to trigger a gang-war ,
also kill remaining ballas / vagos in streets to get to 1st wave ... thats when THEY ( rifa, da nang , triad , aztecas ) will spawn , enjoy the war !

hood under attack :
once you won a rifa , da nang , triads or aztecas default territory , this territory may get attacked ... if it does it will be THEM ( rifa, da nang , triad , aztecas )

?? = density or color %...can go from 00 to FF ( 00 to 255 ) see default settings to see how the game is set (below) i used ballas/vagos lines and set them to 32 (50) in my territory glitch codes v1 & v2,so if you want to change the densitys in them change the 32's for another value.
also for somes reasons any changes in gangs & dealers density may affect the last four digits (peds&cars and peds ??) i dont know why,anyways this is what cause the glitches in the popcycle spawning.playing around with thoses should be fun for testing...

Cars and Ped Type: Special Notes

Types over 19 have a hex flag attached to the byte. For the most part you can ignore this because the Gang Flag is set automatically when the gangs are added. Grove Street has an additional flag that prevents foot cops from spawning as random peds. I'm not sure about cop cars, Grove Street doesn't have random traffic.

Flag 0x20 = Gang Cars and/or Peds
Flag 0x40 = unobserved, cleared if set
Flag 0x80 = no cop zone

Unknown Ped Type Notes - end of record

Hispanic Dealer - frequently seen in zones with (ped ??) unknown ped type 4 (last field in record)
Biker Dealer - frequently seen in San Fierro zones without additional settings

Residential Rich Zones: PRP1, PRP2, PRP3, YELLOW, and PARA (probably others)
No luck using unknown ped type to restore normal car and ped densities. Eventually rezoned to type 12 - Entertainment Busy

Unknown Ped Types 10, 9, and 1 are likely to restore fairly normal car and ped densities in many residential zones.
Unknown Ped Type 10 - possible Biker Dealers in LV

Gang Map Colors

Red, Blue, Green, Alpha: I suggest ignoring these values. Testing on PC suggests that the game engine will change these to the appropriate settings based on the densities of the zones. I'll try to confirm this on PS2 during my next round of save edit testing. Set the gang densities and let the engine do the rest.

Update: Sorry, this has already been confirmed by current data. Glitching a turf adds a density of 1, and not much else. The engine applies the colors and gang flags.

I'm still not sure how to enable gang wars with cheat codes, but perhaps this save will help you track it down. I enabled the gang war byte (01) and in the next three bytes I placed a unique marker. These bytes are marked as "align", and usually don't do anything; gaps in memory so things line up in 4 byte structures.

The Hex code for these 4 bytes, the enabled gang byte and 3 align bytes, are:
01 4F 53 52

The ASCII equivalent for the 3 align bytes are:
OSR

This string of 3 letters is unique in the save file. The byte before OSR is the target variable.

Alternative Rezoning Strategy

ric's method of altering the zone is far more flexible, but there is another method to alter the zone types and densities of the 3 major gangs. I've posted a method for PS2 player to extract the save file from most formats and edit with a program designed for PC save files. The tool seems to be working, and provides a utility for clicking on the zones, selecting the zone type from a menu, and editing the densities of Ballas, Grove, and Vagos in each zone.

However, there is no method to alter the unknown ped type to tweak the ped densities, and no option is available for other gangs or dealers. about enable gang-war code i havent look into it yet,but i will.for now im using a alternate way to activate it

police mission mod = DOBERMAN (press R3 in any police vehicules)

this will activate the doberman mission at any time in the game...i mainly used it after gang-war is disable (green sabre mission) but it can be done at any time.this is a way of doing it...but not the best one.ill start searching for the enable code.thanks for the bytes that will help.

ok..just so you know,
the original glitch made by flying way-off the map for hours,will give you at most 178 territory's with a density of 01, its very weak and it will give you only one wave of attack...the territory glitch code v1 & v2 will give you 371 or all 380 of them with 3 waves of attack.it as a density of 32 (50) its very high,regular strong territory's have a density of 28 (40)

also doing the original glitch takes hours...inputing the codes only take about 10 minutes

do the math,200 more territory's + high gang-density =.....fun,fun,fun.if you like the gang-war aspect of this game.

anyways just try the codes you'll see what im talking about

Another advantage to this method is you can change a few zone types so gangs will spawn in the desert and country regions, preferably a zone with a few ped paths.

yes,and since the territory glitch code is savable,we can do small fix codes to make it better...we know "peds&cars" is savable,but it as flags attached to it,so when saved and reloaded whitout code,will it revert to what the flags tell im to ? if so the changes should be done in gangs & dealers density % so it gets another flag...and what about "peds???" are the changes savable??does it as flags??...much testing to be done here.

that was for the savable part...we can always do "always on" code that would need to activated each time you start the game...with this we can change any value.so fix code shouldnt be a problem...but will they be savable? i dont know yet,but ill get there.

right now im hunthing the gang-war toggle, im trying to get this code ported to pal as well as other versions of the game,im trying to figure out a "dealers everywhere" condensed code,im trying to do some testings on various density settings (for that i need to argue with my girlfriend to get tv control) i also do the "territory's starting adresses list"...all at the same time. add the fact that i work 6 days a week...and sometimes needs to sleep a bit.

I know dude its still nice to see alot of old faces here still though. Oh yeah i also discovered somthing that relates to this that you might want to know. When a hood gets attacked i've found if you lure them to one of the turfs accquired by the territory glitch and then kill the gang memebrs there it makes the density brighter which means it can be attacked by the ballas for example. I did this with a turf i got where the lowrider garage is i took over willowfield and it kept getting attacked so i lured them there and killed them and gradually i've made it a normal turf like the rest.

this can also be done with the "hood abuse" glitch...do you know it?? basicly all you need is button cheats

-infinite health
-weapons 3
-car fly

when you get "hood under attack" stick remote explosive on all gangmembers that attack your territory,and fly away to any territory and detonate...it work almost all the time.if done right.

There it is. The last line in the code segment below changes the stats display. It was one of the final pieces to the puzzle of getting the gang war testing working properly. This should be easier to locate than the Gang Wars Enabled flag since I suspect you have codes for other stats to use for an offset. But then again, without the gang war flag this bit won't help much.

i did look into the dump to try to locate it...no luck so far,but i didnt had much time to do so.

i did port the codes v1 & v2 to pal format.
pal ppl have fun.

props Ric but you knwo the water territorys can be taken over just get a big boat do recruit anyone cheat recruit 3 ballas or vagos and then take them over the water and just kill them then just move near to land and then kill the 2 waves.

Water territories are a bitch though if the "gang waves" spawn underwater..it's a good idea to move as far away from the water as you can and still remain in the area you're trying to take over. I tried to take Verdant Meadows and had a "gang wave" spawn somewhere in the Restricted Area that I could not get to, so sometimes CJ gets screwed even on land. sad.gif

i've found a useful glitch with the freeze everything code edison carter made once you start the war freeze everything then when the gang members spawn immediatly unfreeze everything then they die and it saves time.

there are many ways around to take over "over-water & no-peds" territorys, the restricted area is special,i think the gangs spawn within the underground base...anyways here's the way i use to get thoses "hard to get" teritorry's,its a code made out of popcycle codes and weapon mod codes from skiller...basicly its changes almost all peds into armed gangs members, even better you can select what weapon they hold.its not savable

the POPCYCLE codes can be used to input gangs digits.but thats just a temporary fix...im still working on the territory starting adresses list...its huge work,379 of them.once im done, i want to start looking into fixing "no-peds & gangs-free" territory's, ORIONSR sent me some fixes he did on pc, i want to try them out and see if its savable on ps2...but that will take some times,its a on-going project...

I'm not sure of how your methods alter the gang weapons, but this information is stored in the save - like when Grove gets the upgrade from the tags. It is my understanding however, that this information is altered by the scripts on occasion so it doesn't stick.

I'm not sure of how your methods alter the gang weapons, but this information is stored in the save - like when Grove gets the upgrade from the tags. It is my understanding however, that this information is altered by the scripts on occasion so it doesn't stick.


the code above "almost all peds = armed ballas/vagos" just change peds i.d. in the popcycle group,while the code is on....

so i think each zone can call more than one group at time...gangland+???,so the problem have 2 source..1st is gang density and the other one is what peds groups it will call (peds&cars and peds???) but can they support changes,without the engine reverting them to fit the gang density input?...just like colors.

about the weapon change,its just a peds weapon mods..not sure how its work,its a code from skiller.i think its just like the "peds have weapon button cheat"...i didnt mind much,cuz popcycle group i.d changes are not savable either,but the game see the modded peds as active gangs member and thats whats cool about it,so its just a good way to get gang members everywhere...for now,could be use as "always on"codes to mod the peds group i.d.

another good way is using ballas/vagos pocycle group i.d codes to add gang members into it,usually thoses codes only used the 2 first lines and the rest where unused...its impossible to tell where thoses will spawn...in peds,in car,in gang-war,but there are more gang members for sure.

i also used them to make gang-war easier to trigger

I'm confused about what you are doing with the popcycle groups. The popcycle information decides which groups will spawn for each zone type. If I specify a cars and peds type of Entertainment Busy, it will spawn dealers and gangs if there is a density over 1, cops, a few from the business group during the day, lots of casual rich, a few casual average, and the rare entertainers with their Turismo's and Bullets, mostly at night. So, goal #1, set a cars and peds type with gangs included.

Problem: adding gangs reduces normal cars and peds. The zone type/popcycle are not changed, the zone type just has a gang flag added to the normal type - a very confusing programming choice, but the zone type is still the same. This seems to confuse the engine, and examining the original zones leads me to believe that Rockstar never got this working the way they had hoped.

Solution 1: Change the unknown ped type. No one really understands what this does, but changing this field has an influence on the peds and cars, so play around with it and report any observations that might be useful.

Solution 2: Use a different zone type. Some zone type never spawn normal peds and cars after the gangs are added, so use a zone type that doesn't have this problem.

So, change gang density and the engine fixes colors and flags, but doesn't change the zone type for gangs. If the gang density is removed the engine will unflag the gangs and the zone type will be back to normal. All of this information should be retained in the save.

Altering the popcycle: On PC it is really easy to add gangs to a zone by altering a text file. Just change the gang field from 0 to 100 and the zone type will support gangs. Same thing on cars, change a few settings and different groups appear. Alter another file and the same group will have different cars to drive around. Changing the text files on PS2 is pretty difficult, but I suppose you could change this information after it's been read into memory. It just seems like an awkward method that would lead to a temporary fix. I would think changing the zone type would be more effective because the information should be saved.

dont get me wrong here,i aint playing around with the " peds popcycle group i.d's",guys were talking about ways to get "over-water & gangs-free" territory's....so i posted thoses codes i was using with the "original territory glitch" where it was hard to trigger gang-war,thats all.

that said,there is no doubt that the density codes are calling to them,i know that cuz i modded the "unused gang 9 popcycle group" for triads, then i changed the density for it in battery point,went there and triads were all-over the place...so lets not put thoses aside , even if not savable,they mod the peds group,it might be usefull later...to do cheat device "always on" codes

of course the next logical step is to adjust the zone type and play around "peds??" ill do lots of testing this week,now that im done with the adresses list.

ok,iv started to do some testings changing "peds&cars and peds??"...this is great,just like orionsr said, it change peds group in the territory's,much fun ahead!! (orionsr,sorry it took so long to get there...im a slow worker!!)

first thing ill do, is to write a code with all of orionsr settings...

Fisher's Lagoon is type 5 - Residential Average, a type that doesn't usually have problem with gangs spawning, but the other peds tend to be a bit sparse. Type 5 seems to be a bit odd. Turf glitchers report that gangs are not present in many of the type 5 zones, but there is nothing in the data that would indicate why. My other theories are that the turf glitchers haven't noticed an occasional gang member driving around in a car since these areas tend not to have ped zones, or a Type 5 zone that overlays a desert or country county might play a role in gangs spawning.

I find steve-m's path map to be very useful for determining where CJ is safe from footcops spawning in restricted areas. Perhaps it would be useful for determining which zones should remain under Balla or Vago control so you can use it to chain gang wars into neighboring zones.

I suspect many of the standard tricks for taking over remote turfs will still be helpful. Starting a gang war in one zone and then dashing of to another zone can get gangs to spawn in remote areas and they can be lead to even more remote areas. When the gangwar times out, kill the followers to start another war and then lead that group farther out into the boonies.
