I just don't think they should have the balance be so heavy in one genre, they tend to do that with GTA4, but I like the ones that do stand out like Jazz and ambient Journey!
I also like LCHC because it turned out better then I expected it but I listen in small doses to it! haha

LCR is my favorite but I also am listening to Tuff Gong, and the like. A little of everything, but the forced Pool Hall station songs are the most painful to my ears. It wasn't very good in my Humble Opinion

Even though there's no "metal" station, I wonder if they're going to lump some heavy metal into the hardcore punk station.

or just get rid of the rubbish hardcore station biggrin.gif man it sucks icon13.gif

Could have been worse, and I don't think it sucks, I just love more Hard Rock / Heavy Metal that was and has been named in numerous threads prior, as well as the back pages here.

I sincerely hope someone at Rockstar glances at some of these HOLY suggestions we've made. I just can't imagine it being cost prohibitive to license, and as much as I like the classic 80s and 70s tracks, the whole M E T A L genre is on par to how great those genres are with virtually no mainstream airplay to boot!

I think that's why Rockstar have been holding back, as it's a real underground scene to this day. I'm in it for life. It's no phase as far as I'm concerned!

I wish S L A Y E R had a video for their Fight Till Death track... one of the most melodic, killer riffs there is!
AND of course, made it into a GTA, that would RULE ALL!

Let's keep suggesting material for Rockstar's sake... They'll get it eventually. It can't be ignored. So much area for METAL HUMOR, as both Spinal Tap and Bad News (Brian May produced, BTW!!) proved!

I'll get a clip of some Bad News up icon14.gif

Here's to hoping that Sam Houser and crew don't feel the need to assimilate the music more closely to the next GTA's setting, though it will have a bearing in some way. I think this one they wanted a real close bearing to the story's Eastern European feel but not with all the selections. Anyway, I think Love Fist should return with new songs, as cheesy as they are, I prefer them to Crow 2 to 1!

By all means, we want more ideas for any future GTAs, since they negated them in "4".
IIRC, the lead singer in Nevermore was the guy from Forbidden Evil? I forget at this point in time, but I wanted to add... Here.

A legend in the Heavy Metal community died the other week. This is the second show [tonight on FM radio KFAI] in his honor since he succumbed to Cancer.
Earl Root ...and The Root of All Evil. His long running show on KFAI Fm (dot Org!) has offered for 20 plus years, 5 hours a night of metal, metal, M E T A L!
His show will continue but without his familiar voice so I plan to add some archive audio on line for those who missed out on the craziness he provided. Not only going to record conventions and finding rare LPs and CDs, he played guitar and started a record label... He leaves behind a wife and son

R.I.P. Earl Root! Rock on the Stairway to Heaven!! AND the Highway To Hell icon14.gif

user posted image Earl in a rather amusing moment!

WTF is gay ass punk brit metal?
if you are referring to the hardcore punk station (LCHC) which has nothing to do with metal and is a genre routing from New york city's pun scene, then you are a moron.
Punk rock is > metal also, bitch.

Punk from the 1970s is very much a part of what METAL encapsulates.
I mentioned in the music forum, if you're a black metal music fan, there's a revised book out called Lords of Chaos, it chronicles the inception of diabolic forces in modern music, often times, only as an image and not intended as a real mission statement.

King Diamond for example, people were forgetting on YouTube, he took influence from Alice Cooper and Queen. His theatrics and singing clearly show that as well.

A band like Bathory, they cover as well, Quorthon explaining the shifts in the band over the formulative years of the 80s. Venom's Abaddon is quoted at length, as well as Terry "Geezer" Butler about Sabbath's involvement (some quotes, I should clarify) That book really centers on the Finland and Norway BM scenes.

I think GTA and Rockstar will be sticking more to artists who actually do get radio airplay, in one way or another. Certainly at the time of their beginning, that could be contested.

As a devoted Metalhead, I had only contributed here in this thread at length because one hope was that Rockstar North folks would look over the topics and take some fan's ideas for licensed music. It was a sure sign after the game hit that the selections were slim on good stuff, but full on eclectic tastes, and one thing that Sam Houser willingly admitted to was choosing songs that he said RN felt would tie into the themes, if really more then one. Regarding NYC or the plot, loosely. The general feel of Niko and his plight in Liberty.

As long as it's PULL ME UNDER

I haven't heard that in awhile, but hard to say if you can get burned out
listening to it. With LRR, I don't listening to Genesis's MAMA
I am not a big fan of them taking Sabbath's epic Heaven and Hell and trimming both sides off it!
