I recently found myself liking with the TV show Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. I was wondering if there were any other forumers who like Stargate.

Ya, never ever wanted to watch the show, but the film was good. Kurt Russell and that bi-gender villain, entertaining flick.

Have been on a bit of marathon since christmas (am watching at least 3 episodes a night)

I have just started season 5 again.

Stargate is pretty sweet. A lot easier to watch while I was in high school and I didn't have many expenses or things to do. I will probably eventually buy the entire collection and the extra movies sometime. Maybe over the summer.

Used to watch SG1 pretty much every night about 5 years ago when i still had Sky One. Lost interest in it eventually and havn't seen much of it since.

Did Jack leave at one point? I'm sure i saw quite a few episodes where he didnt appear at all and i was like wtf?! But according to imdb he's still in it. What's the story on that?

I hate the show, but found the movie t be brilliant.

My dad collected the whole Stargate magazines which came out monthly for the past 5 years or so.

When he told me that he got the last on last month, I thought thank f*ck, only 60+ stargate dvd's scattered around the house.

Around 50 of which are yet to be opened.

I watch them (movie and SG1) occasionally when I have time. Used to watch them more. I still watch Atlantis every now and then.

You think they'll remaster it in HD?

I'm partial to SG-1, but I saw an episode of Atlantis and wasn't really blown away.

But then again, could be an error or something (but I hope not!)

Looks bunk to me, unfortunately. I hope it does get remastered, though!

Have you seen the Star Trek TOS remastered in HD? It's pretty awesome. The new special effects are a little lackluster, but it's awesome to see it in HD.

It's MacGyver shooting up aliens, what's not to like?

I only really watched it back when I broke my leg, and there was nothing else on on weekdays. Held my interest for a while, but when I could finally go back to school, I stopped watching it.

Yeah, I noticed that after a few episodes. All of a sudden, I said "wait a minute: thats MacGuyver!".

Just bringing this thread back to life. In the end it took me 5 months to watch all 10 seasons of SG1 / 4 seasons of Atlantis and the Ark of truth.

And to think when the show first started, I hated it and would refuse to watch it. Looking forward to Atlantis season 5 now.

What is a little annoying though, Sam Carter was perfect for SG1, but now she is in Atlantis, she seems pretty useless and does nothing, but I suppose she and Mackay are pretty much the same and they did not want to take the limelight from him.

roll on July for the new movie!

EDIT
Anyone seen 'A dogs Breakfast' loads of SG and Atlantis cast in. Well 5 people

Ark of Truth is a straigh continuation and the new Movie is set afterwards I believe so it doesn't ignore it but it is it's own standalone story.

Oh, sorry, I was confused. I remembered reading somewhere that Roland Emmerich wanted to make a sequel to the original film that totally ignored the TV serials.

I can't find any mention of that anywhere now, but I think it's probably for the better, after seeing 10,000 BC last night. My god, what a flaming piece of dogsh*t THAT was.

Yeah, it was bollocks. A very, very poor mans Apocalypto. Minus cool blood spurtage.

Anyway, I've been watching SG-1 every Wednesday night on Channel 4 at like 2/3am. It's awesome. inlove.gif

And Teal'c is amazing. "Indeed".

I love stargate!

-although I find the spinoffs a bit boring...

Great thing about stargate SG1 is that all of the ten seasons are really exciting to watch. And the action does not end in the tenth season. quite contrary, as the final season is really action packed.

Another great thing about stargate is that most alien races are above humans in it. So it's not as racist as, say, star trek.

I mean in star trek, humans are always pictured as the masters of the galaxy, while other alien races are always below humans. Even those races that are clearly more intelligent than humans.

Still, cannot really blame star trek for that, as the show was coined in the sixties...

I only watched SG-1 and I loved it. Never watched any of the movies or Atlantis etc.

Another sci fi series I really loved was Farscape
Cast_of_Farscape_season_2.jpg

The 2 main cast members of Farscape became SG-1 regulars in seasons 9 and 10. Ben Browder became the new leader of SG1 and Claudia Black was a regular in the final season of SG-1 after Farscape ended.

Anyone remember the SG-1 episode 200?? There was a Farscape parody lol:
