I'm putting Oi Polloi on down in Bristol later on this year. I'm so f*cking excited to not only be seeing one of my favourite bands but actually putting the show on as well! They're playing London the day before as well. With any luck I'll catch both their shows. I'm also hoping that they'll play Punk Illegal in Sweden so I can see them three times in a year! That's the dream, at least.

I can't stop listening to this band, same vocalist as Aus-Rotten but more awesome

you should really try to get that record, and Know your enemy as well. I almost like Behind Enemy Lines more than Aus-Rotten.

I've only got The Global Cannibal, which I like. I'll get round to downloading other albums soon, I still prefer Aus-Rotten although these are alot heavier and faster which I usually prefer.

Against All Authority is one of those bands that I've heard of, but never heard. I've got most of their discography on my computer for Christ's sake. I'll have to give them a listen when I get back on my computer.

I've been trying to get into grindcore more lately. I've got a few bands that I already listen to (Skarp, Phobia, Insect Warfare) but I want to find some more. Can anybody recommend me some good grindcore bands? The more political the better, of course. wink.gif

tragedy is more crust than grind. Same with Die Young as well.

I like Tragedy a lot, but they aren't grind at all.

Really the only grind I listen to these days is Magrudergrind.

Not the biggest Punk fan but the Beastie Boys started off as a Punk band as most of you'll know, in 1979 til about '84.

It's just my opinion, but I think the Germs are mainly known for having a junkie as a frontman who spent most of his time on stage getting sh*t thrown at him, or not being coherent enough to sing his own songs, rather than their music.

Case in point is that the band didn't even get noticed in the LA scene until after Darby killed himself.

Shows how big of a mark their music was at the time in the early LA punk scene.

Yeah, Darby's antics are the only the thing that make the band memorable. The music is pretty forgettable, although Lexicon Devil is definitely a good song (on record).

I recently found out The Mob are playing Bristol in two months! If that wasn't enough alone, they are being supported by Zounds, Rubella Ballet, Insurrection, Andy T and Steve Carr! It's a seminal anarcho-punk slumber party! I'm looking forward to this gig, even better I get in for free because the venue asked me to do the flyer for the gig. wink.gif

Saw Discharge last night. They were sick. Highlight of the night for me, though, was Smiler (hardcore band from Wales). The other supports (Bulletridden and Defcon Zero) were really good too. Overall it was a pretty nice night, apart from all the macho prick punks in the pits. I hate drunk punks.

Got given a hand screenprinted Discharge poster though, which was pretty nice. They're usually worth 15 but I got given one for free by the promoter (because I designed the original gig poster for them):

Ha, nice. I've never really been a big fan of Black Flag (a moral crime in most circles) but I think that would make a sick tattoo. I recently got a tattoo of Walt Jabsco (mascot of 2-Tone records) in black bloc tattooed on my leg. I'll post a picture some other time.

Going to see The Fight tomorrow. They're a amazing Polish hardcore band with a female singer. A load of my friends saw them at Scumfest last year and said they were one of the best bands on the bill. Really excited to see them. The support bands are pretty sh*t, but I'll probably be running around do other stuff so I won't see them.

Yeah it is very easy to see past The Germs as a sh*t band, which I agree they were a very sh*t band. but there is something in those lyrics and the way he acts that I connect with, therefore for me making it some damn good punkrock.

Lexicon Devil is amazing, the Melvins cover of it is better than the original. happy.gif

Dead Kennedys is still the only band I like. I can't even listen to other stuff anymore. DK are the most fun band ever. That's what I think most bands forget about; and that's the most important thing, is it's gotta be fun. Every single song they did before the Frankenchrist album is perfect. Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, In God We Trust Inc, Plastic Surgery Disasters, and Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death. Dead Kennedys aren't an ordinary band. Not only is FFRV their best album, but PSD is also their best album. I can't say enough good things man. Jello's country album he did pretty much counts as the seventh Dead Kennedys album it's so good. Prairie Home Invasion with Mojo Nixon playing guitar.

I just got back from Equal Fest in Bradford last night. Missed the opening night but made it in time for the Saturday gig. Got to saw some really good band with female members. Flue Sniffers from France were a pretty good anarcho-tinged hardcore band with dual male/female vocals, Pettybone are an sick all-female hardcore punk band from London, Last Legion Alive were a heavy metal-influenced crust band from Belgium and then The Fight (who we also put on in Bristol on Friday) are a amazingly powerful female-fronted Polish hardcore band.

After that gig we went to Wreck 'N' Roll Circus to see AOS3 and Spanner, two bands I'm going on tour with in April around Europe. Going to France, Belgium and the Netherlands and get to see some good bands like Usual Suspects (anarcho-ska-reggae-dub-punx), D'Onderhond (Belgian anarchofolk) and Cop On Fire (Belgian dub punk). Really excited for this tour. First time I've been to Europe since I was 14 as well, so that's another seller for me!

Citizen Fish are great live. I've seen them quite a few times now. They're playing Rebellion festival again this year along with Subhumans. Last time I saw them was at The Fleece, in Bristol along with Spanner and A-Heads. It was a good gig, if not for the macho drunk punks in the pit (as always).

A few festivals have started releasing more information about bands playing this year. Scumfest (London) has announced a second set of bands, the line-up now includes: Appalachian Terror Unit (US), Genital Deformities, FUK, Shades of Grey (SWE), Icons of Evil (POL), Meinhof, Unhaim (CHE), Green River Killer (ITA), Falling Down and Bulletridden.

Punk Illegal (Sweden) have also announced their next batch of bands. Their line-up now stars: Hellbastard (UK), Defiance (US), Rudiosa Inmundicia (AT), Simbiose (PT), Twopointeight, Confusa (FI), Vitamin X (NL), Juggling Jugulars (FI), Burning Kitchen, Exhale, Fredag Den 13:E, The Fight (PL), Nailbiter (UK), EPA, Tuna (BL), Monachus, Antidote (NL) and Meinhof (UK).

Putting on Appalachian Terror Unit on in Bristol the night before Scumfest, hopefully with support from Bulletridden and Murder of Crows (both local crust bands). Currently working on Oi Polloi gig which is in Bristol on the 30th April.
