nah, he isn't very active on forums and such, although he did post something on his own site 19th January this year.
He's probably busy with life. He'll return to GTAF one day, hopefully.
EDIT: Is there any possible way to fix the crash when getting wasted/busted because this dying is getting old.

Check the installation folder.
It can be
|C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\GTA San Andreas|
but needs to be
|C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas|

As I said look carefully!
Your SA installation is situated @
|E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto San Andreas|
Installer trying to install @
|E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto San Andreas\GTA San Andreas|
What to do:
1) If you have steam version, find somewhere gta3.img from version 1.0
size - 896 МB (940 064 768 bytes)
MD5 - 9282E0DF8D7EEE3C4A49B44758DD694D
2) In the installer window click to the field with path & remove 'GTA San Andreas' at the end. Install the mod
3) Install patches. Have fun!

Ok, nevermind. I installed TTDISA Patch and works fine now.

with the latest patch made by SilentPL, I can say the mod is perfect so far, runs really stable, I've made it to San Fierro without a single crash/bug.
though I don't expect to see any new update from Deezire soon, I really hope he will return and bring us some new stuff

The tag in Rodeo (Temple Drive Ballas tag), is a San Fierro Rifa tag instead of a Ballas tag. Is this a bug or an easter egg?

-------Bugs(Would have been fixed In volume II)
-Gang members voices don't compete with their own model
-Michelle in the hot coffee animation is bugged
-------Fixes&Improvements(Would have been in volume II)
- The Ambulance still has a texture bug after its rear door has been opened - part of the word AMBULANCE
is missing (this is a bug in the game, not the mod).
- Helicopters and Airplanes do not show the correct rotors when flying like they did in gta sa on the ps2
- The Sanchez still has blank grey/white areas where it seems that some individual logos should be
- The moon does not go through phases like it does on the PS2 version
- The noises made by CJ when he entertains a prostitute in his car are not heard in the PC version
- Occasionally the weapon icon in the hud may disappear for a short time if you are unarmed
-At some point in the mod redevelopment,Deezire thought of enabling a feature where you can buy drugs from dealers but didn't want to brake the storyline,however i don't know if he would have added it into volume II(Note the sounds and more remain in the game files)
-Rusty brown ring donut shop would have been enterable and obviously no more donuts as desserts(not sure about this one...)
-Zero's shop should contain some peds like the ps2 version of the game.
There are still some bugs i never discovered in this mod,so the one mentioned above aren't the only ones.

And i think he would have specially mentioned the user SilentPL for fixing the mod in the first place-My respects for that guy...I hope someone would think of adding/fixing at least some of what i mentioned

EDIT2: I have downloaded the End of the line fix made by Alt but there is a problem as I got the error after placing the file in my GTA folder: Sorry, can not patch this version of gta3.img. Please re-install TTDISA but I have just installed it!
Silent's patch fixes EOtL, mine too but in a different way.
There's no reason to use both fixes. I made gta3.img patcher because latest Silent's fix required exe from TTDISA & that was a problem for me ('till I discovered a very nice workaround )
So use Silent's patch as it's fixes a lot more issues:
|Changes in 1.2|
- Removed "Full" and "Friendly" versions of main. Now mod works exactly the same on XP, Vista and 7.
- Fixed 1.1 fix crash.
- All 23 loading splash screens now work properly.
- Integrated the savegame updater, so I will be able to mess with main.scm more in the future.
Changes in 1.1:
- Injected Darkpactor code - possibilities in fixing and expanding script with keeping compatibility on old saves are now much bigger.
- Fixed possible cutscene bug in Doberman.
- Removed unnessesary Virtual Protect setting in some places.
- Fix now supports Vista/7 ('friendly' version of main).
- Fixed crash in End of The Line.
- Fixed crashes in Karmageddon.
- Adjusted brief texts in Karmageddon - first one dissapeared too fast in my opinion.

I will certainly start again from scratch when I will have time since all I want from this mod are all the possibilites that were "forgotten" by R* in the final release as well as the additional dialogues and most of all I do not want to avoid the End of the Line ones. Last time I tried to install the unofficial fix 1.2. my game crashed after the loading screen but maybe I did something wrong but I am sure I kept the TTDISA exe

-No peds appear at zero's RC chop,nor cluckin' bell but they do on the ps2 verision (note they do in other restaurants...)
-Victum has missing clothes!!(i don't know about the other clothes shop,but what the hell!)
-when at 6 stars wanted level and the hunters helicopters come,they aren't coded well enough...(they hit buildings,drive insanely...)
