recently i have been visiting different areas of the forums, and noticing topics i never really noticed before, mainly because i have always viewed pinned topics as stale and/or boring rule topics and skipped over them. do you actually read or keep track of pinned topics in the different forums, or do you skim past them to get to the meat of the sections?

Depends on what they are. Things like vehicle chat or sports discussion, I do, but not so much in forums that have none that appeal. I treat them as regular topics.

I skip them, if I have read them before. If not, then I'll read the title, if it doesn't interest me, then usually I do not read it.

If I was posting in a forum I hadnt before, then yes I read the pinned topics.
If there is a topic that is pinned, like Footy chat, BF2 when it was, then yeah, I post in them all the time.

Im not sure it works in all forums though, sometimes pinned topics are just good to show rules and guidlines, then the rest of the forum to talk about the subjects.

Well.....if this was in the GTA IV section, "No" would have 75% of votes and Pirate Dog would have 24%.

I usually skim over the pinned topics to not look like an idiot later.

Way to ruin any chance of getting a reasonable result by allowing the funny to be an option. mad.gif

My answer = yes, I almost always skim over pinned topics these days.

pinned topics are always pinned for a reason, so I always stop to read them, just to see what's great about that topic.

I'm still discovering pinned topics everywhere. sigh.gif It's like they're invisible, I believe I only checked the ones here in Gen. because I was bored.

About sums it up and we can't forget topics like the 'Now Playing Topic' and the GTAIV wishlist.

In some sections I keep an eye on one or two. But mainly, no I don't look at them. I never even read the pinned rules until like 2 years ago, as I'm sure some mods/admins would understand by my past posts.

Oh, and of course, Pirate Dog.

Here I tend to miss them now. I mean I read most of the older ones a long time ago, so I usually skip right over them since it's so rare that there's a new one added. When I finally do notice a new one I will read it, assuming it looks like something that in any way relates to me.

That said, stop drinking. <3

I just caught Waddy and CharisL reading thru the rules of Vehicle Chat. It seems that reading pinned topics especially those about rules is a kind of new fashion.

I usually skip over them, except for the Wrestling Topic, which is the one I have my most posts in, so it's in the middle.
