I really enjoy reggae, but don't listen to straight up reggae as much as I need to. I find myself listening to a lot of reggae-influenced stuff all the time though.

Any Heptones fans?

I've been really digging them lately.

Anybody into Lee Perry/The Upsetters?

Eastwood Rides Again, that's a hell of an album. Return of the Super Ape has got something special too. Both albums highly reccomended.

Also, Tim Armstrong's solo album. I wasn't really expecting much because I'm not a huge Rancid fan, but I was really impressed with it, it's called "A Poet's Life". Anyone else heard that record?

I listen to dub, reggae and ska, but I do not know enough. Is Dancehall considered Ragga or Reggae? Does anybody like any of the "fusion genres?" (Reggaeton, Ragga jungle ect.).

Anyways,

Here are some of my favorites.

Desmond Dekker and the Aces - the israelites

Eek A Mouse - Ganja Smuggling

Dr. Alimantado - johnny was a baker

I Love Desmond Dekker. Did you know that in the 60/70s the was criticized for promoting "rude boy" culture, or the Jamiacan gangster/thug culture, sound familiar?

No, i didn't know that, lol. i don't think listening to Dekker would make you more likely to commit a crime, or atleast i wouldn't. but that has been the case all through out history hasn't it? i mean nearly every popular music style or lifestyle has always been blamed for every problem in society at some point of time confused.gif

Got a Niney the Observer album recently, Space Flight Dub is what it's called.

It may sound like bad 80's dub, but it's still cool.

Anyone listen to Slightly Stoopid? Not sure if you would call it straight up reggae, but it's influenced by it.
