The Google Maps API has been used to create maps of World of WarCraft and Middle Earth with a Google Maps interface. Nobody's done this with San Andreas yet? Better yet put all GTA3-generation maps in it for a Google GTA Earth. How awesome would that be? Especially if it could give driving directions.

Yeah! Great idea! Look, you know what? It won't be so hard, actually. And driving directions idea... Well, that won't be easy, but it's achievable.

San Andreas and GTA 4 will be helluva challenge in a Google Earth interface, but Vice City and III would be relatively easy. But the map that comes with GTA 3 for PS2 already has a Google Earth-ish layout.

You could always just use these instead of making one
The Java SAM and the Flash SAM

They are really useful IMO.
