I started listening to the Need For Speed soundtrack recently and I was kinda blown away by the style of the music. I don't even know what genre it is (dubstep?) but I love the dark atmosphere and the tribal drums. I would love to get some similar song\artist recommendations from you guys. Most of Photek's songs that I've heard aren't like this but I will give him a thorough listen.

It's quite the rare release I believe, limited pressing of 2000 copies. I've seen one go for about 80 quid on eBay but they're as cheap as £18.50 on Discogs, which is unusual considering Richard could modulate a fart and sell it as a 7" single to rabid collectors. Solid release though.

I'm still looking for a copy of Polygon Window on vinyl, but the average asking price is about 100 Queen sheets, I'm just not willing to pay that at the moment. Understandable considering it's long OOP but I am in no position to pay that much.

Ah, I didn't know that. 2000 copies is super rare. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one for the craic.

Yeah that's pricey for that.

I think I read that recently it's been the first time that vinyl has outsold CDs in possibly ever. Think it was James Hetfield that said that on Joe Rogan. I noticed a newer Tower Records open in the city and it has a nice vinyl section, practically the whole upstairs. I was thinking of beginning to collect.

It's set to be a billion dollar industry this year, which means extreme proto-hipsters will abandon it for fear of fueling capitalism and revert to cassettes.

I wonder how many people like me heard Joe Jackson's Steppin Out, (a pulse pounding, uplifting electronic track with cool, laid back lyrics) and rushed out to buy an incredibly disappointing album with no other electronic tracks.

Ah well, this is still an amazing choon and a nice video too:

Exploring more jungle and gabber tonight, starting with this 1997 EP by Black Knight titled Back To The "O" School. Its tasteful sampling and infectious leads are kept steady by a driving drum beat now so synonymous with the genre. Keep an ear out for those stuttering hi-hats. You've heard them everywhere.

It might've been close to the start of the downfall for Anjunabeats, but still a great tune.

Always big thanks for my buddy Spider-Vice, got me really into Trance.

In 1980, my Sony Walkman was home to Ultravox, Visage and The Human League (the Reproduction and Travelogue albums).

This was my favourite track from The League, from a year earlier with dark, analogue synthesizers and cryptic satanic vocals.

This was music before synthesizers became sickly and digital and The League became a horrible Pop Band.

Found this nice little tune (along with it's 033427 edit B-side) after trawling Discogs for some techno 12" releases. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was from 2006. I usually like my techno from the mid to late 90s, but this could quite easily pass for a cut from Gerald Simpson back in his 808 State days.
