Tyson destroyed Wladimir. I along with a lot of people didn't believe this was going to happen, but did know he had the potential especially since he's much younger. Classic boxing fight. He played smart, even gave him a wobble in the 9th round but he kept the pace up, frustrated Wladimir so much that he looked a shadow of his old self. The bonus thing is that we now have a champion who is british and is a real character, it's gonna be real entertaining now.

One of the greatest fights I've ever seen.  Too bad Canelo/Chavez a week later was a huge disappointment.

Conor vs Floyd. This'll be quite the circus. It would be nice to see Conor knock the guy out, but I'm afraid it'll end up like "the fight of the century".

they're going to talk a lot of trash.

they're going to strut and dance into the ring.

then they're just going to hop around and jab at each other.

nothing is going to happen.

Floyd will win on a split decision.

fans will bemoan their wasted time and pay-per-view money.

Connor and Floyd will laugh their way to the bank.

the once great and proud sport of boxing will sink further down into it's cold, damp grave.

This ain't gonna be a fight. Floyd's gonna take this in points undoubtedly. But I'd love to see Conor get really frustrated at some point and just does a spin kick and knocks Floyd out.

You think the fight is going to be close enough that one of the three judges gives the fight to Connor? Connor might win a round but no way in hell he wins 7 or more even if the judges from last weekends Pac man fight are the judges.

Only chance Connor has is to catch Floyd with a left hand early in the fight and if that doesn't happen Floyd out boxes him for a clear cut descion or he accumulates enough damage that the ref stops it in the later rounds.

The one part of this fight that intrigues me is how long is it going to take Floyd to figure out Connors style. Floyd is the best defensive boxer of this generation and arguably the best ever but he has never fought someone like Connor before. The angles and footwork that Connor is going to show Floyd is something he has never had to deal with or has ever seen before during a fight. Floyd is good enough that eventually he will be able to adapt to Connors style but I imagine it is going to take a few rounds and how much damage can Connor do in those rounds? Another thing to consider is Floyd won't be able to utilize the clinch to rest like most boxers do because Connor is better in the clinch and if he is smart he makes Floyd carry his weight whenever they clinch and that can wear a fighter down especially since Connor will be a lot bigger than Floyd on fight night.

My money is on Floyd winning a decision but I think Connor has at least a slight chance to win by KO if he can bully Floyd in the first few rounds and land one of his devastating left hands clean.

Personally I wish they would fight under a modified Thai boxing rule set which allowed elbows and kicks and wear 4 oz gloves instead of 10 oz gloves. That would never happen because Floyd has issues with his hands and it would significantly decrease his ability to defend and counter punch but it would make for a much better fight.

I agree that Floyd has better chances to win. How many professional boxing fights did he had and how many McGregor? Correct, MrGregor had none. The rules of boxing are completely different from the once from UCF. In an UFC fight Floyd wouldn´t have a chance either.

It´s like the world best soccer team is plays soccer against the world best basketball team or vice versa. At least it still will be a big show and entertaining.

I will bet 20,-€ on McGregor, just for the small possibility and the much better betting quote.

LOL Connor has no f*cking chance in the world. not a punchers chance, not a notadamn thing.  Ortiz, Pacman (hurt shoulder i know), Maidana, Canelo (basically same size as mcgregor) and Cotto were all supposed to  have the one shot power to knock out Mayweather, the problem is no one can hit him, by the time they can its usually in the later rounds when their power has waned and he can take the shots at that point. McGregor does not have good boxing hand speed. Plus Floyd likes to fight in the biggest ring possible, so the first half of the fight McGreogor is just going to chase him around and exert all his energy. Its going to be like every floyd mayweather fight a blast until the first bell rings then a giant snooze fest, they should charge for the lead up to the fight not the actual fight.

Well first of all your split decision prediction is idiotic seeing as McGregor will more than likely not land anything significant let alone win a round.

Also, the whole boxing is dying sh*te that casuals spout is misinformed bollix let me guess you're an American? Boxing is actually thriving globally & will never die.

OT

McGregor has practically zero chance did you see him against Van Heerden? who's a decent welterweight? the guy looked embarrassing any competent journeyman would beat McGregor.

You think the fight is going to be close enough that one of the three judges gives the fight to Connor?

no.

what I think is that boxing is a corrupt and failed sport and they will do anything for the sake of ratings and Payperview sales. they think it looks more dramatic if the decision is split even though it's already agreed that Floyd will win.

Well first of all your split decision prediction is idiotic seeing as McGregor will more than likely not land anything significant let alone win a round.

yeah like I said bro, I'm not actually betting that Connor would win anything, I'm betting that this dumb sport is corrupted like it has been for the last 20 years. I'm betting that they will make it look like a split decision just for keeping things interesting. because they can do whatever they want.

Also, the whole boxing is dying sh*te that casuals spout is misinformed bollix let me guess you're an American? Boxing is actually thriving globally & will never die.

the fact that I live in the US has nothing to do with this.

boxing is dying and it's killing itself.

it's been dying since Mike Tyson retired. the fighters have gained more power than the governing body itself and so the best fighters don't face each other anymore. they only pick safe fights that they know they can win. there's nothing exciting happening at the top levels. it's just a boring sport these days. judges are paid for and bought off. unless there's an obvious KO, decisions are agreed upon before the outcome.

there's more exciting drama in professional wrestling than boxing today...

All those fighters you mentioned are boxers and fight like boxers and that is the only advantage Connor has because Floyd has never seen anyone standing across from him who has the same style as Connor. Connor is going to be throwing punches from angles Floyd has never seen before in a live fight and it is going to take him a few rounds to figure it out even though he is the greatest defensive fighter of this generation. My brain tells me Floyd takes a few rounds to figure Connor out then boxes circles around him but I've doubted Connor before and he always surprises me.

Floyd is also 40 and hasn't fought in a while and history has proven speed and chin are the first things that go. That split second of a difference that Father Time has taken from Floyd could be the difference between him shoulder rolling away from a punch and him eating a punch that shocks the world.

At the end of the day this is a fist fight and anything can happen in a fist fight.

McGregor being from city, no doubt I'm rooting for him. I'm not convinced he'll win but I will say it may look close at times and I can picture there being controversy if it does go to decision. Who knows this could be the start of a trilogy if it ends close in anyway and of course the all the parties due to make millions off this fight.

Overall if McGregor loses, he still wins outside of the ring.  He's launched McGregor promotions, he's going to nearly bag 100 million for this one fight and he's only 28. It doesn't affect his MMA loses and he can always fall back on the notion that he went above and beyond by stepping outside his discipline in to another one to fight the undisputed boxing legend. It wont hurt his credibility, well maybe slightly but not really. And I couldn't see any other MMA guy get a fight like this. He talked and fought hard to get this going planting the seed a couple of years ago to make it happen. Very smart.  I think he's in a pretty good position.

Conor losing wont be as bad than if Floyd loses. If Floyd loses that's his legacy tarnished somewhat. He'll despise that one in "49-1." The likelihood of that happening might be slim. As others said, there are certain possibilities of MCGregor getting a left in and KO but all those possibilities are very slim.

For the first time watching Conor smack-talk in this lead-up to the fight, I felt he was doing it because that's his thing. I wasn't entirely convinced in his confidence and what he believed in to be hones, unlike the way I've seen him before.

Im not so sure about that, pacman is a fighter who fights and punches from all angles, he always been like that. He really didnt have a chance in their fight, but his bum shoulder was most likely the reason why.  I believe Conor has the power, but if you been reading all the sh*t, he's been trying to get the gloves changed to 6 or 8 oz, which makes me think he doesnt have the power in 10oz gloves as compared to the 4oz mma gloves.  The only chance would be for conor to get him with in the first 2 rounds, which i dont think he's fast enough. People forget Mayweather is the best defensive figther in any combat sport, i dont think conor will touch him until the later rounds. He's gonna bite like everyone does and chase floyd, its going to wear him out.

also mayweather being 40 i dont by that noise. Just look at B Hop he had a good reign after turning 40.

Spoiler

I don't think he is worried about the gloves because of power issue I think he would prefer smaller gloves because it would take away one of Floyds defensive weapons. In boxing you can cover up with the gloves and use it to avoid strikes and the smaller the glove the less surface area there is to block so punches can get through the guard easier. The have done sports science episodes on punching power and the results showed the size of the gloves didn't really have that much of an effect on punching power.

I don't see Connor gassing against Floyd because he is used to 5 minute rounds compared to 3 minute rounds in boxing and MMA is the harder sport cardio wise. Connor can also use his MMA experience in the clinch against Floyd. He won't be able to strike but he will be able to get overhooks and force Floyd to carry his weight and that is something Floyd won't be used to do and it can be extremely draining on a persons cardio especially if they aren't used to it. To people who have never grappled the clinch looks like a place to rest but in reality it's the complete opposite and boxers are used to using the clinch to rest for a few seconds.

I don't agree with you about Manny throwing punches from the angle Connor does. While yes Manny does throw from non traditional angles he still fights like a prototypical brawler and Floyd had fought brawlers before plus Pac was way past his prime and hurt when they fought so it's hard to really take anything from that fight.

Floyd is no doubt the best defensive boxer of this generation like I've said in all my post and he has been boxing since he was in the womb so it comes naturally to him at this point. Connor isn't going to be able to touch him much but he still has a piston for a left hand and it will only take one to alter the fight and if he hurts Floyd he will pour it on and try to finish the fight. I don't think that happens but you never know so that's why I'm not completely counting Connor out. If the fought 100 times Floyd wins 99 of them easily but come fight night Connor has the power and the just don't give a fook attitude to shock the world.

The sh*t talking will be far more superior than the actual fight itself. I'd like to see Connor win, but the only way that happens if he manages to catch Floyd and knock him out.

No need to really dissect this. He either wins by KO or loses trying to keep up with floyd.

even the sh/t talking at the press conference was lame.

it was forced and fake.

it felt like they were struggling to find the anger in their voice because they have ZERO reason to dislike each other. they're basically the same person, just different color skin. they're both getting a huge pay day regardless of the outcome. they're not threatening each other's respective standings or ranking because the fight is happening outside of their normal league. it's all a joke.

the PPV tag should 150 dollars but they've slashed it to 99 bucks because they know that nobody wants to see this...
