I would say at least 40%. Think about it, alot of Highschoolers play GTA. (Even though there not supposed to, and that includes me! moto_whistle.gif )

Also, do you think that mature adolessons should be allowed to play GTA?

Also, I've changed my question, if you want to post, post how old you are! Once the poll is added and you don't feel like revealing your age, you can use the poll.

Thanks for Adding the Poll Moderator!

I'll say 60-80%.... And it's hard to say weather a teenager should be playing it because every kid has a different maturity level so that's a tough call.

Its not really a question of maturity. Its a question of legality. At 16 you could be more mature than a 25 year old, but it wouldn't matter because GTA is only supposed to be sold to people over 18. But what do you mean by your question? What percent of people that are over 18 play GTA?(60-80) Or do you mean under 18 that play?(40-60)

I mean the percentage of Underage players. 60 representing that 60 Percent of players are under the age of 18. I've met people under that age that shouldn't have those kind of games, ever. And I've met mature people under the age of 18 that have been playing them. My mom got me GTA 3 when I was 11. monocle.gif

And I'm talking based on maturity, not age.

Actually, in the game industry now days there is a big difference in the demographic compared to the earlier years of gaming.
Gamers on average are now between 25-40, and the group is dominated by males, unsuprisingly. Although, there are more female gamers than one thinks.

I'm 18, though you don't need to be 17 or 18 in Australia, and probably many other countries.

Here, it is MA15+, although some games are edited (hookers are taken out here), however, GTASA was left original - oddly.

But the point here is that whilst there may seem like a lot of kids playing GTA, you must remember that older players are less likely to spend time registering and participating in online forums over the game.

I'm 21.... but I dunno. I mean I think alot of people 18-27 play it. But I'm sure there are alot of 15-17 year olds that play it too. I think i was 16 when GTA3 came out, and I played it.

Its only because we don't have an R rating for games, so anything that would usually get slapped with an R rating gets refused classification and thus Rockstar need to remove the element that causes the R rating and remove it so it fits into our highest game rating. MA15+

If we had an R rating there would be no problems at all.

Then there really should be an R rating such as MO 18+, otherwise it's basically censorship.

Not many european countries censor games. It's only germany and a few other (that I know of). Besides, you are a very censored country compared to others in many other ways, except gaming.

I'm 20 and I'm from Germany. Here the GTA series is rated 16, except GTA III (18). But it's completelly censored. It all started back in 2001 when GTA III was released. The so called BPJM, the federal institution the checks the games for ratings, has forbidden GTA III. So R* had to censor it. So in the german version you can't kick anyone lying on the ground and peds don't have any money. And of course NO BLOOD. But there is one clou about that. You could simply change the country setting of your PS2 and guess what? Yeah right, you had the uncensored game. When the people over at BPJM noticed their mistake, it was already to late because they're not allowed to change the rating or the content of a game that has once been rated 18(Ohne Jugendfreigabe). And surprisingly this whole thing happened to the first version of Vice City(16) too... But after 2 weeks you could only buy the completely censored version of the game. But I was fast enough sly.gif Well SanAndreas was a little different. There is blood in the german version but that's it. So I had to order it from the UK.

At the moment noone knows what changes will be done to GTA IV for germany, but I hope the BPJM realises that censorship achieves nothing as long as you can order it from any other PAL region.

Back to topic, I was 15 when I first played III, now I'm 20 but I'm still not able to buy a complete version of IV in stores here. That p*sses me of. So I have to order it again from the UK and might need to wait a long time for it to come(SanAndreas came about a month after the release date)

We're all armed by thirteen, do you really want us drunk, too? LOL

I don't want to turn this into a nationality thing, but I got a funny story. I went to the Netherlands once and I met the uber-liberal girlfriend of a friend and she fully hated America. I just listened to her rant until she said that America was racist. I started cracking up because every person I had seen while staying there had been totally blonde eyelashed and ginger. Not a variant hue among 'em.

Anyway, my point is, perspective is everything.

Also, I'm 27 and I'm still going to get my mom to buy GTA IV for me.

Exactly, the law is wrong really, I am under 18 and I am mature enough to realise it's just a game and not to copy it. I must be the maturest person I know that is my age, everyone else just asks silly alot of the time and can't be sensible.

You might say that the "law is wrong" but classification by age is the easiest way of determening who should be able to play violent games or watch violent movies. It is kind off silly but can you come up with a better solution biggrin.gif

I'm 22 BTW. I find it very interesting how different communities classify videogames featuring "adult content". Whether these games are determined a threath to society or it's not a big a deal, thei are just videogames. The funniest part, I in my oppinion, is the different views on which of the game's elements that are considered the most "destructive". The "hot coffee" scandal made rockstar pull back san andreas in the USA. Why? Because "the world's most violent game", which allready had the "mature rating" had a "sex simulator" featuring naked women and sex possitions. Here in Norway the entire "scandal" was brougth up in the media as a joke, and the game wasn't even considered taken off the shelves. All this despite the fact that porn is banned her in norway. I find it extremely ironic that sexual content can be viewed as a greater threat than simulating violant acts.

I played GTA 2 for PS1 when it was released in 1999 and I was only 13 at the time, but GTA III was way worse and I was 15 then.

16. But with the things i can legally do at 16 in the UK, i think anyone 16+ should be able to handle some virtual reality.

well, apart from those who are f*cked up.

I'm 26 next month. I've been playing GTA since the original. I don't know how old I was the first time I played, but it really never made a difference to me. All I wish for is for R* to make the GTA series an AO rated game. Everyone will still buy it or have thier parents buy it plain and simple. That way R* couild use whatever content they want.
They say a AO rating would effect sales because stores like walmart won't put it on the shelves. BS I say. And I ask, how many people in here are under 18 and purchased thier copy of GTA online?
GTA would still rock sales charts anywhere it is sold, even with a AO rating.
