Black rims. Nothing looks cooler then a black car or black SUV with black rims.

Well in the trailers the license plates are just clean. Reason idk y maybe cause it was a debug version but if not then it means we can custom our License plate like we saw in GTA San Andreas when we meet certain people. Though the Paint and Spray is out of the game now, it was meant to get away from heat. But There is going to defiantly going to be body shops in the game. especially Nitros for the Racing Missions which I NO IS going to be in game.

I've noticed the boss muscle cars in the trailer, so I hope that we will have the ability to do some under the hood modification, suspension mods and the like to increase the speed and handling of the cars. I can't wait for this game, that stallion looks great. I can't wait to see what other 1970s esque muscle cars will be in the game.

Also having your car not evaporate when you take 10 steps away and turn your back would be good.

I agree!

all the mod ideas are great and realistic. also they shouldn't leave out modding motorcycles cuz there are motorcycle shops in New York. like the one of the late Indian Larry cry.gif

What about if it mixed the Saint's Row modding, Midnight Club's modding and Need For Speed Carbon's AutoSculpting? It would f*cking rock to mod even a manana!

Unlike SA, I believe ALL cars should be modifiable.

Put some nitro, slap on some decals, and set up the hydraulics and we're good to go.

Ok After San Andreas added the feature modding cars in games like hydrolics, spray paint, rims and etc. how will GTA 4 up the anti from that last game? Possible car tattoo folder uploads like the User Track Tittles? Official R* releases to add more to edit the cars even more? Submit arts to R* and the Winners are in an official download on the web for GTA 4? Give Ideas how the car modding engine might work in game and plus will other mod features from other games appear in GTA like neon lights under the car or on the hood? Also will R* go far enough where we can mod Boats, Helicopters and etc?

my idea was that of xbox 360 market place a mod would be like 10 20 g

OK, I hope we can mod pretty much every vehicle in the game, but although I agree with those who want real in depth mechanical fettling, I think this would be too complicated and technical for it to be readily accessible.

My idea: there can be several chopshops, modding joints etc, around town. I mean seriously, would you expect to find diamond encrusted Asantis in some slummy ghetto modshop? ....Thought not.

There should be high class joints (expensive, the top dollar Bling), lower class joints, (cheaper, tackier fare), places specializing in wheels (for a truly huge selection), perhaps something *similar* to a Pay & Spray, but where you choose and customise your own colours & finishes in real depth (you can't evade the police this way like in previous games), showrooms where you can sell (or buy) your rolling gin palace, places specialising in more Ricer type modifications, custom lisence plate shops, shops selling lots of little gadgets and embellishments, custom interior specialists, insane heavy bass audio specialists, and also places specialising in different kinds of engine tuning (they do the whole engine, you don't have to do the detailed NFS fine tuning here, this is GTA after all). This would give us a chance to truly choose the best of what we want, going around town, and create something truly unique rather than just choosing the item at the top of the list all the time.

I also wanna see a really crazy modshop, hidden away somewhere, that will do insane things like install doorbells, potted plants, fountains, jacuzzis, fish tanks, chandeliers.... lol.gif

But ABOVE ALL, no matter how much or how little modding we actually recieve, I want it to FEEL REALISTIC.
Peds should gather around a heavily modded car, other modded cars can follow you around wanting a race, people should comment on your toy, you can take it to custom car gatherings, many of which take place for real in Queens...

Afterall, there is no point splashing out on bling- if there is nobody to impress.

Why does it for you guys always have to be OVERDONE, this is no f*cking race game or an friggin Gangsta game. this is GTA IV not San Andreas! we have already had a GTA game to Pimp your cars. and if you want a car pimpin game go buy Need for Speed. if you want it combined with pony farming, go and buy Saint's Row, or start playing GTA San Andreas over and over again.
modyfying your cars is just to extreme for GTA IV. remmember it will NOT be a Gangsta game.

There is no way in hell they will let Saints Row or Saints Row 2 for that matter have better customization than them, so i am expecting a phenomenal amount of customization, hopefully including very expensive extras such as oil sick, road tack, bullet proof glass and hidden amour plating, as well as the kind of customization that NFS Prostreet has.

Yes armored plates and bullet proof galss sound good to me, becouse in real time mobsters often use armored vehicles. but car pimpin just doesn't fit in the setting of the game.

I'd like to see...

Chips (for newer cars)
Bigger carbs (older cars)
Turbochargers
Superchargers
Nitro
Engine swaps
Better exhaust systems (with better sounds!)
Improved air filters
Capacity increases
Close-ratio gearboxes (quicker acceleration)
Convert to FWD, RWD or 4WD
Stiffen and adjust height of suspension for better handling
Convert to different suspension types (no more leaf springs on the back of that Idaho!)
Sports tyres for better grip
Seperate height settings for the rear to change the stance
(and loads of other mechanical things i can't think of)
Hydraulics
Neon underlights in several colours
At least 50 alloy wheels (some can have spinners, about 10 kinds of those)
At least 20 steels
10 cheap plastic hubcap covers
A full spectrum of respray colours (like selecting colours in photoshop)
Matte, Gloss, Metallic, Pearlescent and Flip (colour change at different angles) paint
Some cars can be changed to be 2-door, convertible, estates (station wagons) or saloons (sedans), vans, webasto roofs (glass and fabric) and stretched
At least 100 vinyls (special paintjobs)
Stickers that can be put in different places
At least 10 seperate front/rear and side bodykit parts per car (5 generic ones for all cars, 5 special ones for that 'class' of car)
2-3 Different kinds of foglights and configurations to put them on the front of the car. You can leave the covers on them (for show) or have them with covers off (and they work)
At least 15 kinds of spoiler
2-3 kinds of bonnet vents, different positions for them
5 kinds of airscoops for bonnet and roof (if it has a roof!). Bonnet ones include the 'big metal air filter sticking up through the bonnet' like the Diabolo stallion
Different textures for the seats (leapord skin!)
Put in racing seats and a rollcage to make the car stiffer and lighter
Cheesy acessories like furry dice, "fingers stuck in the boot", stick-on bullet holes (or make your own XD) and funny bumper stickers
Customise your own licence plate (IVRULZ)

That's ridiculous. It's not need for speed.

Notice in this picture, the express car service garage to the very right. Its front roller door is up and there is a turn off from the road directly into it. This may not confirm modification necassarily but very possibly something like Pay & Spray.

Some of you realise you're replying to people who posted over eight months ago? As for car customisation; I don't see the point to be honest.

Car modification is only good if there is a way to keep your cars. Maybe something like in Scarface where you could pay a (relatively) small fee to get any cars that were destroyed or lost during missions returned to you. Otherwise what's the point of paying all that money on mods only to lose the car in the next mission.

If there is a way to keep the cars then I'd like to see them make mods more pricey. I'd like to see it feel like an achievement when you get your first set of nice rims on your car, or get that paint job you've been dying to get. Rather than having so much money you have got several fully-modded cars. It'd be nice to get some average looking car and turn it into a beast throughout the game. Engine upgrades would be nice too.

something like Pay & Spray.

A. R* said no more pay n spray so this could very well be customixation shop.

B. This brucie character from trailer is said to be a car nut in his description on ign so this could mean customization and car missions!!
