Yeah. 48 seconds is good for 1 hour.
I hated the fact that changing clothes would take 3 hours, it would be like searching for a t- shirt in a needlestack in real life lols.

What are you talking about?R* didn`t made any game called Mafia, LA Noir is gonna be set in 1940s with a mafia theme but they never made a game called MAfia, only GTA had a Mafia theme in 3 and VC...IF you are talking about Mafia-The Cty Of Lost Heaven, R* didn`t made that game...Illusion Softworks did...

Hmm... I think I can remember seeing the R* logo at the intro of the Mafia game. Maybe I remembered wrong then... well whatever. My bad.

Well by the looks of the trailer, it seems like they're keeping to that.
Besides, what other method of time could they use?

I mean, real time second = game time hour is a bit...fast.
Real time hour = Game time hour is a bit...slow.

What other logical way is there buy Real time minute = Real time hour?

1 real Life second is usually 1 In Game minute, not hour.

It ought to be like Dead Rising. 1 hour equals 1 hour. If you want the clock to move foreward, just return to your safe house and set an alarm clock. Nico goes to sleep and then he wakes up when you want the time of day to be.

Something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R could be nice. It is like 1 day = 6 hours.

I hope that 1 day will equal about 40 minutes. 20 minutes of sunlight and 20 minutes of starlight sounds about right in my book.

If they are going to change it they don't have to double it to 48 minutes. What about like 30-35 minutes per 24 hours in game?

This really doesn't matter. It's not like we're gonna be playing the game and go, "Oh, it would be better and more realistic if things were on a solid time frame!"

There's got to be a degree of seperation between how much realism we want in a game and how much bullsh*t we want, too. I think it could be improved, and I also think it could be worsened, and with millions upon millions of GTA copies sold, why change anything when no one really cares once they're playing the game?

I want it to be twice as long as what it has been. so that means two seconds for one minute and two minutes for one hour and 48 minutes in one day. I think one second for one minute is way too fast.

It will be 24 or 48 or something divisible by 24. Its the only way it would
make any sense. The whole fourty minutes or two hours aren't really equivalent with actual time and it would be and odd way to count time.
And for anyone complaining about driving from one end of the map to the other in four minutes, its probably because you are speeding like a madman. If you travel at pedestrian speed, and don't pass anyone the whole way its more realistic.

You can cross the map in 4 minutes or less because it's really only 4 miles wide, no mystery there. The clock running fast doesn't make it "really" bigger. The illusion of greater size has to be achieved through map design; indirect routes and carefully managed sightlines.

I think they'll stick with the 24-minute day to keep the environment interesting and spare you from waiting too long for regularly scheduled events.

Keep it the same it was actually reaslistic cos when you think about it if it was real time you could drive from one end of the city to the other in 5 minutes and i dont think there is a city in the world like that

I like the 48 minutes=24 hours thing, that's perfect. But I think they could also make it so time advances just the way it does in real life, except that when you save or got to sleep it advances a large amount of time. This makes it much easier so you don't have to wait an entire day just to see Liberty City's skyline. Pardon my French, that's retarded.

i think a 48 or 72 minutes (2 minute and 3 mintue hour) would be a good length for a day in VI but definately not 1day=1day because it would be far too long and for example it was 6 am and u had to wait until like 2 am to do a mission it would be a complete p*ss take.

I reckon 1 Day = 60 Minutes

2 Mins 30 Seconds = 1 Hour.

The only problem that I see with using your system clock to calculate the time ingame is the fact that many of the missions will require a certain time frame to start and complete. Like all of the previews have said, one mission requires that you set an appointment that isn't started until a few days later, and as much as I'm all for realism in the GTA series, it would not be fun to have to wait 3 ingame days to just start the mission. Although the previews also said that you could complete other mission while waiting for one to start, so maybe it could work. I agree with the idea of having 48 minutes represent the entire day, it seems to be the perfect mix between the usual GTA fare and the increased realism R* is going for with 4.

I really hope it isn't in real time. I can just imagine the problems it would cause, like someone in the game would say meet me at 06:00am on Monday and you'd have to wake up and play it! I think the 48mins = 1 day idea is good.

i think the clock should be atleast 2x or 4x faster then real life time on gta 4. So either 12 hours or 6 hours, to me 6 hours would be pretty awesome. So say i was driving for saying 5 minutes, it would feel more realistic then having 5 game hours clock in.

Why are you all against real time ? Come on, you don't really think that we'll have to wait for each mission.
It's soooo obvious such system implies to be able to put the clock forward (when sleeping, saving, etc).

While that may be true, what if a mission calls for it to start at a specific time, and even sleeping or any other way to put the time forward could still cause you to miss the mission. I'm all for realism, but having to plan my gaming schedule to perfectly time the start point of a mission is something I don't see R* making us fans do. We all know how annoying it was to miss Joey's missions in GTA3 due to being a few seconds late at his door, and I doubt we would want that in a much deeper, interactive game.
