1 day = 24 minutes

in SA, a single journey can last all night, which ruins the realism
the 24 minute day ruins any patterns and paths NPCs take, they may take all day to drive home
what do you think about the 24 minute day, and what do you think R* will do about it?

And when It's daylight where you live, it'll be daylight in GtaIV and the sun goes down allmost at the same time , and then you have seasons right

So when it's winter it'll snow and stuff and when it's summer the sun will stay longer and the moon in the sky will dissapear really fast like in real life.
And then you have people that change right ?
So when you played the game for 8 years and you saw a little girl of 14 on the street and you know where she lives in NYC ( euh LC) and you go visit her 8 years later and you make love to her because she likes you and she is 22 now you know ...
Ok maybe that's allready a bit tomuch to ask from Rockstar , but maybe not huh.
Who would like to see the game time go as fast or as slow as real life , so one minute in the game is one minute in real life ...

Hmmmm cookie tastes nice

This is crazy ! ... Crazy ? THIS IS GTA IV !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I found out that the 24 minute system is taken from Shenmue (the greatest game of all time). |
Actually I'd say it's the best game of it's time , not really best game ever ...
Because you count everygame made public and you just go and state that Shenmue is the best between al of em , I'd say that GTA Vice City is the best pony farming FUN game , I got bored of San Andreas quicker than Vice City ,
Sorry y'all

EDIT: ok I ment to say Vice City is the best pony farming FUN game
I'll just leave the misstype in it because it's funny

i liked the 1 day-24 minutes old schedule.but 48 mins one day isnt bad as well Wait no it is worse.IO want 24min-day back!! |
Why's it worse.
Honestly I don't mind , as long as there is a cheat to make it stay at present time until deactivated, (rather than make it stay at 21:00, make it stay as the same time as when the cheat is activated).

t = day/night ∞ (1+ 1:d/n)
so
d²∫n² = √t²
Meaning that there are high chances that the 24m = 1h formula will be used once again.
...And there will be steak.
No but seriously, I hope they make it 2x longer than before.

Well according to my GTA TIME FORMULA I can tell that: t = day/night ∞ (1+ 1:d/n) so d²∫n² = √t² Meaning that there are high chances that the 24m = 1h formula will be used once again. ...And there will be steak. |
... You liar, that only proves steak will be included!!

I say bring on 5 seconds = 1 minute. 2 hours days would be nice.

If the game time goes slower it would give more realism, and would allow players to enjoy certain parts of the day cycle. So if it's fun to sneak around at night, we would have more time than say 10 minutes.
And in Oblivion you can simply wait somewhere to pass onto a desired time. Maybe

I want to experience a GTA rush hour, and it won't happen, if it takes like two minutes real time. The traffic jams would have to appear really fast and then - snap! - the cars would be gone again. Also, sometimes you want to do certain things in the night, for instance, and the dawn will come simply too quickly.
I've previously suggested that during the "most interesting" parts of the day (the aforementioned rush hours, for instance; maybe late evening/midnight, too, when people go to night clubs etc.), time should go more slowly. You wouldn't necessarily even notice it, cause it'd be like 1 game minute = 3 seconds real life instead of 2 or 1. I think that'd be a good compromise: a day in the game wouldn't last forever, but you'd still get things done.

Was kinda lame to be waiting at a red light for half an in game hour, seeing the sun going down behind the mountains in the previous games, or using 3 hours to change clothes.
Also was kinda confusing when you take a mission and the guy says "You got FIVE minutes!" and I'm like "Ok.. by that you mean 5 seconds or 5 hours?"
EDIT:
Mafia was NOT made my Rockstar afterall btw. -.- My memory is playing tricks on me.

But whatever the case, I think a day will have to be longer than 24 minutes b/c they will want you to have a more realistic but still fun experience in the game. I think they will slow the clock considerably to maybe 5'' = 1' or 2 hours = 1 day. This way you can browse the streets for a few minutes in the same level of sunlight/darkness, will lead to more realistic interactions with peds, etc.
Bottom line: the day cycle will be longer than 1" = 1'.

take a look at that...this gif is made from the trailer...re encoded at 1 fps. Keeping in mind that in the trailer, the clock on the ticker went by at a rate of 1 minute per frame...so taking the video at 1 fps makes it 1 minute = 1 second. As you can see, taking into account the jerkiness that the actual speed is pretty accurate. this leads me to believe that it's going to be 1 minute of real time = 1 hour of game time, so yeah 24 minutes in a day looks like its still going to be there

Your argument is indeed another proof...
Everybody liked that system, it worked great, I mean, why change it.

night time (like those are in real life). Player would have more time to do daily and night task. I think that it can also give dignity for lights and shadows.
So "sleeping" in savehouses would come more needful. It would be cool that you could set alarm in cellphone, when you want to awake
or "sleep" random time. It would be nice that there would be tire-meter (ok, "play SIM !!", but still). Tireness could effect your driving or aiming. So we came to this, why drugs and pills would be needed. (I know, this goes way too far from topic )

I thing that longer day-cycle would give better rythm to players. In previously GTA's there have not been meaning for which day-time it have been.
But still, I know R* will keep the old time-system, although they would have much realistic effect with these little spices. In other hand, appraising the interviews
of Dan Houser, he have said that there would be different traffic in different times in a day. That could mean that there would be longer day-cycle than before (maybe).
What you guys and girls think?

In San Andreas, you could drive from one end of a STATE to the other in about 4 hours game time ( = Aprox. 4 Real Mins...)
I think they should SCALE the clock to realism...
I.E:
Make the game time actuate...Time how long it takes to dirve (in real life) from one end of NY to the other, then scale it into the game to represent the same time...
It would work well with their "Realism" hopes...
