Maybe an first person view from "cockpit", and you could see the speedometer, RPM cauge, maybe turbo cauge, nitrous oxide cauge, fuel cauge and other sh*t.

Yeah that would be awesome. So many times in my GTA experiences have I been flying down a road and I would just wonder how fast I am actually going so I would love a speedometer. You could then adjust it too either MPH or KPH depending on your preference. I would go with KPH as I'm an Aussie.

The speedometer is a good idea. But actually there are mods for San Andreas that display speedometer. It can be analog or digital, km/h or mph. There is even a mod that shows firstperson while you are in car.

But realy speaking, NO! R* wouldn't put speedometer, I think. It uses to much space on the screen, and R* was always decreasing size of HUD in GTA games. I don't think HUD will be bigger in GTA4. It will probably just show time, or maybe not even that. Health display will be needed only when you are harmed, and money just when you're buying something or stealing money... You could view time and health by pressing the stats key (like TAB in SA where you could view muscle, stamina...) Example for this is that wanted stars in SA only appeared when you were chased by the police, while in LC or VC they were on always. I just don't know about weapons, they would be displayed, but probably transparent.

PS: I made up everything here, in this text, MYSELF, I DON'T KNOW THAT THIS WILL BE in the game, and I didn't READ IT ANYWHERE!

An optional, discreet numerical display in the HUD will be a great addition.

In car, all dials should move realistically. The coolant gauge could translate to car damage/ on fire...

Don't really care for a Speedometer, at least appearing on the screen (taking up space) anyway. I'd love it if you could view it once you switch to 1st person view inside the car, seeing the needle move and what not, like a realistic, life-like speedometer. But not on the screen though, when the view is outside the car.

Well, I wouldn't mind having one, so long as it doesn't clutter the HUD, which I think would happen if R* decided to put one in. The only reason I see to put a speedometer in is if we would be stopped on traffic violations, which would open up another can of worms, leading to a positive feedback loop of disastrous proportions.

Actually that would be pretty kewl. Just randomly placed in high speed areas. FLy past then look back to see how fast you were going.

Speed limit signs are making their first appearance in this franchise in GTAIV (check trailer 3) so that's another hint that they're more likely.

speed limit signs were in san andreas, so thats not new...but they should have just a little box that shows the speed, that can be turned on or off.

A question to those who are dying to have a speedometer: In past GTA games, did you ever think to yourself when running from the FBI with 5 stars "I wish I had a speedometer on the side of the screen to see how fast I'm going"?

It would be a nice addition.

Maybe it could make way for a Speed type mission, where you have to keep some vehicle above a certain speed, with out it exploding. I think there was a similar mission in Vice City.

if there's going to be gas it should be 50miles by the gallon for every vehicle so it wont be annoying to keep going to the pump or at least put a gas station every 7 blocks so it convient (i can't spell for god !@$% it) notify.gif

I really donít have a preference for a speedometer. If there was an option to turn it on i would only like it to be small numbers somewhere unobtrusive.

As far as my opinions on Petrol stations go, R* should not bother! i donít want to have to find a petrol station every time Iím on a mission, or a 'personal mission'!
