A friend of mine is leaving for Australia in two days. He's selling his 2010 520d (F10) for €16k... Such a bargain... If I had a spare 15k (he'd probably let it go for that much), I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Besides high mileage (105k mls), nothing! He's going to Australia in 2 days, so he needed a quick sale.

Doesn't matter anyway as it's gone now.

My missus said to me last night "if I'm getting rid of my company car I want a nice hot hatch to replace it with" so armed with a somewhat increased budget I'm now on the hunt for a smart 5-door hot hatch for around the £6k mark. We both love the Mk5 GTI and are hunting for a tidy one up to or around that. Looking at one this weekend plus a very nice Leon Cupra Mk2 with the K1 kit. Personally I hate the front bumper but a Cupra R jobbie is a bolt-on replacement.

Gotta be up for a drift event I'm working tomorrow. My buddy has his RB25 S14 working again. Got a few friends with some neat cars out. LS2 S13 and an LS1 tubed out S14 are a couple of the highlights of what my friends are driving.

Alright, so I'm helping my father pick out a nice set of rims/wheels. Can anyone recommend any that would look excellent on this truck? I believe he's looking for anything below 18 inch.

Well, I think that sums up modern car design pretty well, not one of those badges look out of place.

Tragic that that kind of thing still happens in this day of space-age safety, but at the end of the day, there's always still that risk. Probably one of the things that makes racing so exciting as well.

Spent yesterday at a hill climb. Quite a bit of nice cars there. A Mclaren M1B, a Delta HF Integrale Evo, a newer Lancer Evo X WRC car, a 914/6 with a 380 hp 3.4 stroker in it, an XKE with a 365 hp 4.2 in it, a nice older Lotus 7 race car (160 hp 1600 Kent in it), a newer Caterham with a 220 hp Zetec, a Locost with a 300 whp turbo BP, a 500 hp 13b-REW powered 1100 lbs open wheel car, a Formula Ford, a Formula V, etc

Gotta say, if you dig grassroots vintage racing, this was definitely the place to be.

That McLaren is stunning. I also really like the FC RX-7. Basically the eighties summed up in a single car.

What an eclectic collection, Lurch. Is that on the road where you were riding shotgun in the Miata?

Close to it. Probably 15-20 miles or so down the road. Edit- apparently it's 8 miles away from the end of the tail.

I know Garfield was considering one at one point. My only observation from very limited experience is don't expect anything dynamically interesting.
Think of it more like a two seat five series than a sports car. To be honest they aren't even refined enough to deserve the "GT" title. That said I do like them-good looking, quick enough and well equipped. Reliability isn't great, especially electrics.

Everything Sivis mentioned are the reasons why I'd stay away from most any recent BMW. I've always been a big fan of the older stuff just for its dead simplicity.

I really like the F type, the ass on it looks fantastic. The V8 sounds amazing also. Wish there were more such exotics roaming around where i live, it would please the eyes and the ears.

I had the 3.0S 380hp for one day. I could say it misses a bit of torque in traffic, otherwise it is gorgeous. It is definitely not a german car (look at 991 build quaility) but it has a lot of caracter, the car wants you to play with it, and so I did.

Audi has gone!

Sold on Wednesday via CHAPS to a colleague, had the confirmation Thursday, a call from the bank to let me know on Friday morning, and the colleague who just bought it came to pick it up not five minutes ago. I won't tell you how much for (but it's roughly in line with what you'd expect for a model of its age, mileage and condition), but what I will say is that I'm picking up the replacement in the midweek. I'll leave it up to all of you to guess what that might be based on the following clues.

1) It cost me slightly less than half of what I got for the Audi
2) It's from a very short (less than 9 month) production run of this particular model
3) It's forced induction, but not a diesel
4) It's bright red

Already got parts on order for it, getting it booked in for a remap which should see a power output of...well, let's see how the guessing goes.

Excited is not the word. In a way I'm almost glad to have got rid of the Audi- I've grown a bit tired of it over the last few months. I wasn't intending to sell it- those of you who remember, my missus was contemplating returning her company car and we were going to get her something cheap and saucy we could share. But everything is for sale at the right price, isn't it? wink.gif

sivis: I'm going to go out on a limb here, and, I know I'm completely wrong, but I'll guess... MKIV Golf GTI?

Also, it took my dad's 308 10,000km and three years before its engine started malfunctioning. I think that's a pretty slow onset for Peugeot engines, isn't it?
