Play as Darkel
Posted 11 April 2007 - 07:05 PM
Than replace them with the original player files (dont forget the player.txd in txd.img too) ! And finaly delete the file models\generic\player.bmp and delete the files in da "skins" folder! Enter in the game! Dont worry if you see in the "player setup menu" that Darkel is white (without textures)!! When you start playing he will be with textures!

For the topic, you can also play as the Pakistani taxi driver this way, you can't get him using the random costume cheat, for whatever reason R* disabled the costume. A gang uniform is always fun though - you can dress up as a Diablo or Triad and walk around the Mafia in Saint Marks at the start of the game, and they don't shoot at you!

And supposedly this cant be done on PS2.
Not practically, no, because that would require a modded PS2, an IMG editor that can read and edit the PS2 files, and at least one DVD burnt with the modded game on it.
You're much better off working with the PC version if you're into modding.

I do all the things you said, but the Darkel model just appears with the default player skin and is all messed up.

Secondly, do NOT take stef_92's advice. The proper way to modify GTA3 is to make all your model and textures changes in gta3.img. IF you have a txd.img and txd.dir, you should then delete them and let the game repopulate them with the appropriate textures.

Does that editor exists? I'm really into modifying a ps2 San Andreas. I dont mind if I spend a lot of dvds...

His is the same in the game, but in the picture here is MORE detailed !
What is that supposed to mean?
By the way this topic is just confusing me, What are you trying to achieve the methods are wrong to start with hence the broken textures.
Also what is the point of restoring Darkel into the game. Finally, why don't you use the modding forum for this in future.

Because I posted that at the first day I registred myself in this forum and I still hadn't knew the rules! So I think that there's nothing more to discus here!

I'm trying to make a mission mod that uses the Darkel skin, and I would really like a step-by-step instruction of how to get the Darkel skin, because the words "access the txd.exe skin folder" are just garblemesh to me.
What a noob.
and don't bump old topics.
