Here's an idea: Has anyone of the mods/admins traced the IP address back to New York or Edinburgh?

Well, first off, whoever deepthroat is knew that:

1. the game took place in NYC
2. he knew about the russian character
3. he knew about the skyline of manhattan in the IV logo
and etcetra.

obviously his tale about running from r* is fake. but he has clues in his writing..

I don't know if it's a hoax, but he did know about the trailer contents weeks before the trailer was released.

Scottygta4 is NOT deepthroat. He's trying to say all of it was an April Fool's joke, planned weeks in advance..WITH deepthroat.
However, I won't believe it until deepthroat confirms that himself.

And, wow, who knew I'd ever write anything with the word 'deepthroat' so many times?

P.S. omg its pyrohazard runnnn

Well if the IP do trace back to NYC, or Edinburgh here is the reason why.

Rockstar NYC is a new expansion to Rockstar Games in New York City. Plus Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland will develop GTA IV.

Here's my view.

deepthroat is real.

Scotty, however, is a kid who must have wanted to jump on the story, then after getting discovered by all of us to be a wanna-be, (and even being denied by deepthroat, himself), claims it was a scheme.

Sounds like Scotty is just a spoiled little child who won't admit his little plan was discovered. Scotty, it's a good thing April Fools is here. Otherwise, you'd have a hard time denouncing your "plan".

has anyone here thought that maybe gta IV will include all of the presupposed areas?

being liberty city, vice city, san andreas, london, bogota.

considering theyre working with a different engine that may (or may not) take up as many gigs as before, and now theyre working with dvd discs that are dual layered?

the possibilities are really endless right now.

I think there may be some truth to your post. Actually think about it, if R* is using euphoria doesn’t that mean they don’t need to animate every little thing in the game. If that is the case that would free up a lot of space would it not? If so, there could be more area for a larger amount of “world” data.

Just my thought

Both the IPs of deepthroatgta4 and scottygta4 trace to Australia. (If I remember the discussion correctly) However I'm certain scottygta4 is an imitation.

deepthroatgta4 = GTA
scottygta4 = Saints Row

What makes you think that this person, simply because they work for or are involved in Rockstar and/or their marketing team, that they have to be working in one of their offices? whatsthat.gif

According to deepthroat, you're nothing but a fake.

And being he's been more creditable, I'll believe him.
Besides, all you can say when someone goes on the offense towards your posts, you say, "If you say so, friend."

Damn this guys so full of sh*t and everyone is just taking the bait its ridiculous, the only thing this guy "revealed" was that GTA4 is set in NY, and even saying he revealed that is a stretch considering there were probably a couple hundred thousand other people who had gut instincts that it was going to be set in LC

If you actually consider believing all the crap about running from Rockstar and people trying to kill him (I assume it gets more absurd but I gave up there) you are gullible fool... perhaps a complete moron.

You got me there. Simply turning my comments around on me without describing how I fit that description or even hinting on any supporting information.

I'll have to remember that one, and the other 100 kiddy ways to "prove" a point on the internet. sigh.gif

So i totally agree with you, it's obvious that this is from R*...
By the way thanks to them to keep us entertain .

My point being, after admitting that you had little knowledge of the piece in question because you "gave up" reading it, you still decided to label everyone with an attention span longer than yours a moron.

Now, your definition of moron may be somehow skewed. I believe mine to be accurate.
And you seem to fit that definition.

I only had to read a certain amount to realise how ridiculous this story actually is. I scoped over the rest and it only seemed to get worse. You see what I did? I used logic and common sense, opposed to just blindly following him along and wasting my time until someone has damning evidence which can disprove him (some things can't be disproved, you have to use probability). Call me what you will, but when you realise how stupid this all is, I sure won't feel like a moron.

I must admit, it was probably foolish of me to try and logically denounce the legitimacy of this story. Some people want to believe it. Ignorance is bliss. smile.gif

I guess reading it all in one chunk does make it all seem like a spy novel, forum style.

Let the speculation continue I say. Let's debunk the dis-believers...

Anyone analyzed the play list much?
What cryptic clue could it behold?

http://www.radioblog...com/open/82615/

I like the fact that there is a song by a lady called Lorie. She's been described as the Britney Spears of France.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorie

Also, there is a song by a lady named Ayumi Hamasaki.

http://en.wikipedia..../Hamasaki_Ayumi

Both songs are sung in their native language. French and Japanese.

of course they could just write out all the game features in a list but that wouldnt spark as much interrest as a well written story/riddle

they are marketing professionals and experienced storytellers and these posts have R* written all over it, the hype, the jokes, everything

if it was just some employee leaking info he wouldnt create a story like that, would he

being sceptic is good, im a sceptic person too but after reading all of his posts in a row i have no doubts its made by R*

I actually think your missing the point of this elaborate story. Sure none of these events really happened to the guy but they do tend to hint at a very GTA style story. Also it would not be the first time a gaming company has employed someone to come on to boards and get involved in the community, and R* are known for taking a different route to other companies in many aspects, marketing included. Sounds very much like something R* might do to help build more hype. I dont think its as cut and dry and your suggesting or that anyone is a moron for believing that he could be someone employed by R*. One things for sure he did state it was set in LC/NYC and it turned out to be true, yes many others guessed it might be too, but not quite like this guy. Now maybe this guy is nothing more than a good story teller and making everyone who believes it look like a sucker but there's also no good reason or proof to disbelieve any of his clues so far either, so I'll just wait and see what else this guy has to say, particularly just before any more trailers, screenshots or other info is due to be released.

This person is obviously a Rockstar viral marketer, remember how he hinted us about the IV logo with a Manhattan background?

What's with this Hong Kong sh*t? You know what's my best guess? His posts are describing the story of the game. But, yeah.

If you want to decipher the playlist just look at the amount of nightwish there, a big band from finland - hardly hit it big anywhere else apart from a few films in US a couple of years back. But i doubt we'd see finland, so i dont think that this playlist hints towards any sort of location

Whoa, grandthefter, damn, just when I thought I "figured" that out. sad.gif

Rhapsody, der Verfall, Nightwish - European music: A EUROPEAN RADIO SETTING? This stuff is also kinda mainstream in the UK, they've got a pretty big power metal scene! They don't listen to that stuff in the US.

Also, Spanish music - a Bogotan station?

Rockstar Employee. Has a certain lease to give a certain amount of info. (Eg: He 'saw' a picture of GTA IV logo with Manhattan skyline) Also he's not confirming anything, just suggesting.

Why? Well because it causes mystery, hype, blah, blah. Rockstar emloyee having a bit of craic with fans on the forums. It's nothing more than that.
